Helllllllllllllllllllo there. It’s been like a hot second, I know. This month has kind of been a mess for me. I thought I was starting off strong and then I literally put myself into a book slump while I was waiting for my darling Renegades to come and then it took me such a long time to finish and now I can’t seem to get my act together. I’ve literally only read 3 books this month. THREE. If you have seen any of my monthly wrap-ups, you are probably fake dramatic gasping now, because you know Mandy does not do less than 15 at least. I don’t know what’s happening, but I’m just taking it book by book day and hope I can get back into my groove.
Currently Reading
Sparked by Helena Echlin + Malena Watrous
I’m reading this for a blog tour right now, and it’s okay? It seems like it’s going a bit slow and there are some major cliches, but there are some definite interesting parts. Also, where was this book when I was doing The Villains Read: Hades because I discovered some fire powers??? I’m just intrigued to see where this leads because the concept is cool and the setting is on fire – but not literally.
Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp
This is…odd so far?? I don’t even know what to do with it. I cannot pinpoint quite what’s going on. It feels a little We Are Okay, but with a murder mystery potential, but it’s just kind of weird as well?? I have no clue where this one is going, but I’m going to try. XD
Next In the Royal Lineup
The Grisha Trio
I’m going to try my hardest and binge read this series in one go. I obviously need to get my act together and finish up my Leigh Bardugo collection since I consider her one of my favorite authors and I haven’t read like half of her books??? I need to get my butt together, and I’m super in the mood to read these.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand
I just keep staring it down and it’s staring me down and I just want to read a pretty new book even though it’s not out until April??? Shhhhhh, let’s see how much self-control Mandy has, but it’s going to be read super soon.
Hmmm. I have Before I Go, and you have me a little worried. I really enjoyed Nijkamp’s short story in Feral Youth, and was hoping for more of that. I guess I’ll just wait and see. Good luck! I believe you can finish both these books by the end of the month.

I’m really interested in how you’re going to end up liking it, Sam! I had a real hard time with it. I think it’s a story not for everyone, and I didn’t have the patience to muddle through it. I really hope you enjoy it and I’m going to have keep a major eye out for it. And thank you for the vote of confidence. 😉

I am reading Harry Potter (finally wohooo) and after that comes Cinder and in between those comes arcs and random stuff that crosses my way 😛

Ooooooh, Cinder is SUCH a good read, so I hope you have a wonderful time for that! And is this your first time reading Harry Potter?

I have my eyes on Marieke Nijkamp. I can’t wait for your review Mandy. I’m currently reading Beartown by Frederik Backman
Love it!

Did you read her other book? I think it’s called This is Where It Ends? And ooooh, how is that?

Reading slumps happen to everyone, especially around the holidays. You’ll get back in the swing of things soon enough!

I didn’t think about that, Kiersten, but you’re so right! Holidays bring the slump. And thank you for the encouragement! 🙂

I have been in a bit of a slump this month as well. Always happens to be this time of year!
I love those editions of the Grisha trilogy. I have only read the first book many years ago. Need to get my hands on these copies!

Yes! I’ve beginning to see that! Maybe it’s book burnout from all the reading we’ve done throughout the year?
And yesssssssss. They’re so pretty in real life, too. Super shiny. It might be worth a purchase. 😉

I’ve been in a partial slump. It’s like I’m not fully in a slump because I’m still reading but I’m not reading as much as I normally do. 😕
I’ve to still read the Grisha trilogy myself. I’m the same with Leigh Bardugo. I tell everyone she’s ones of my faves and I’ve literally only read the SOC duology.😂

Yes! I think that’s the worst part because you know you’re not in a full slump, but you’re just not getting anywhere.
Lol YES. I feel so bad for saying she’s my fave and not having read a good deal of her books. Hopefully we’ll keep her a fave with them. 😀

Exactly! Haha. The book I’m currently reading I’ve have reading for the past few weeks. It’s feels like I’ve been reading it three years!
It’s like we already know her books will be great so she’s guaranteed a spot on our fave authors list!

Yes! I agree! And even if you’re enjoying it, it still feels like that.
And yes! She gets honorary spots. XD

I’m in the same boat as you at the moment. I don’t feel like I’m reading much at all, and I hate it, but I know I’ll grow out of it eventually. Sometimes we get really busy or distracted and reading falls by the wayside. It sucks, but it happens.
Don’t worry! You’ll be back in the groove soon, I know it. 😀

Yes, and I really hope you’re back in the groove, too! But yes, we have to remember we’ll get back to it eventually. Making me feel better already. XD

You should definitely read the Grisha series as soon as you can!! It’s what made me fall completely in love with Leigh’s writing 😍 I’m currently reading Batman: Nightwalker, and hoping to finish today!

Ooooooh, okay, it’s super moved up on the reading list now. 😀 And how is that so far??? I’m super excited for that one! 🙂

I actually just finished it! It was really good, as one would expect from Marie Lu! I think I’m gonna give it four stars!

Combining both of the books I am currently reading, I have read about……0.3 books. O_O *womp womp womppppppp* But this is not a month of reading for me so its understandable. It is, however, a month of my most anticipated release and I’m dying.
I do reallllyyyy hope you enjoy the rest of the books you have lined up! *cough* Grisha *cough* No pressure. Seriously, I don’t want to hype it up too much (bc it has its flaws…its a little-little tropey), but it was my first Bardugo series and I haven’t looked back since!
GOOD LUCK!!!

OH NO, RENDZ. I’m hoping at least one book can just sneak it in there by the end. But it is at least the wonderful release month!!
And thank you. And yes. I’m hoping it will get better the second time around. 😉

Oh no slump, go away! I’m a little worried about a physical book slump myself after Renegades because I have a bajillion books out from the library, I keep staring at them and I’m overwhelmed. I don’t know what to pick up. Yay Grisha! Sort of. I have also not heard of the others (other than the one you recommended, which I know sort of know of haha).

Oh no! That is usually the start of one. I super hope that gets resolved soon. D: Too many choices gets rough. D: D: D: And lol yes! I’m in the middle of it right now, and it really is such a good fantasy book. I figured the fantasy wizard would need to know more about it.

🧙🏼♂️ <- still working on that cool name, but that’s me, obviously
I keep them on a shelf in my room (behind a door) I opened it, looked at the 20ish books and just shut it again. I’ve been audiobooking though (that’s not even a word), that’s fine. I started reading the Silver Mask though, so hopefully it’s okay?
