Top 2017 Fluffy Contemporaries I’m Looking Forward To

The book gods have finally heard my pleas and cries, and 2017 is a possibly the year of adorable, cheesy goodness filling the shelves of YA. Um, do you know excited this Book Princess is for that?

Not even Jasmine’s knowing smile knows the excitement in my heart.

Anyway, I know I just made a post about all the books that I need for sure to read in 2017 – and not just the 2017 releases. However, this Book Princess needs the fluff. And here are some 2017 YA contemporaries that certainly are bringing the fluff and cheesy goodness to a book neighborhood near you!

By Your Side by Kasie West

This is coming out at the end of the month, and I already got my pre-order game on for it! It’s a book about two teeens getting locked in a library for a weekend, and of course, written by one of the YA contemporary goddesses, Kasie West. The fluff is surely going to be real with this one, and I mean, being locked in a library for a weekend? I don’t even need the cute guy to sell me on this!

#Famous by Jilly Gagnon

This is kind of a take on that whole Target Alex thing where a girl takes a picture of a boy, saying how cute he is and next thing you know, it’s a viral sensation. I’m hoping for some major fluffy humor and cuteness between these two, because I mean, look how cute that cover is and it just screams, fluff.

The Truth About Happily Ever After by Karole Cozzo

Okay, this is definitely my most anticipated adorable, cheesy goodness novel for 2017. It combines princesses and theme parks – two of my ultimate loves – and equals out to a perfect summer read. It reminds me of  How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True or Dream Factory, which did have a perfect blend of romance and cheese. I’m hoping this will finally fill the void these books left in my life and just brings on the perfect blend of fluff and humor!

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

While there has been quite a few diverse contemporaries in the past few years, this year, there is certainly quite a few more hitting the shelves including this adorable rom-com about two teens whose parents have arranged marriage for them. It seems adorable, and Rishi is meant to be wooing Dimple…am I the only one hoping for some funny encounters for this? A lot of hopes and dreams for fluff are being put into this book.

Geekerella: A Fangirl Fairy Tale by Ashley Poston

I’m not really sure I need to say more. Cinderella, fangirling, and geeky goodness? Yeah, fluff to the extreme, and I’m not sure my Book Princess heart can take it if this turns out to be as epic as it sounds.

Just Friends by Tiffany Pitcock

Smart goody-two-shoes girl is best friends with the playboy heartbreaker is a trope that has been around forever, so this book is definitely not bringing anything new to the YA contemporary section. However, this trope is usually one I enjoy with the whole best-friends-to-lovers thing, so I definitely don’t mind adding another one to the TBR.

Coming up for Air by Miranda Kenneally

This book sounds just plain adorable and like the perfect summer read. I’ve been pushing myself off from reading it since I was approved for it on Netgalley to keep myself from getting too excited for summer. This will be my first Miranda Kenneally novel, and I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on her stuff. The premise of an dedicated swimmer trying to get some last minute senior school goodness was just too cute to pass up.

Wesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn

Medieval themed restaurant and enemies-to-lover trope? Sign me up! Swoon Reads usually has some perfectly cheesy romance reads, and I’m guessing this book is definitely not going to be an exception. It seems like super fluff, and I really am liking the medieval themed addition…although I’m hoping the camper in the cover isn’t the restaurant. That would just be awkward on their part…well, their fake part since the owners don’t exist.

And last, but certainly not least, I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

Again, major yay for diversity, and this book that features a girl trying to impress a boy with Korean dramas knowledge. It sounds adorable, and the Korean dramas addition means there is definitely going to be some major humor involved. I can’t wait for this book to get here, because it sounds like just the right amount of humor and fluff (it already boosts a broody artist, fake car crashes, and boat rescues in the summary). I can feel the squeals already.

2017 is going to be such a great year for books, and these YA contemporaries are certainly adding to that. I simply cannot wait for these, and I’m already feeling the very intense feels. Ugh, why must the wait be so long for some of these. My fangirl heart can’t take it.

So, are you excited for any of these? Are they on your TBR…or possibly being added right this very minute? What fluffy books are you excited for? And by chance, if you read any of these yet? Let’s please discuss in the comments below, because my fangirling is at an ultimate high!

    1. It looks so cute, and I’m hoping that it will be hilarious as I think it’s going to be! Were the other too tropey/stereotypical for you? Or just not sound interesting? Sometimes there can be a thing as too much cheese. XD

      1. I’m just starting to read more contemporary and I’m not really a fan of cheesy romance. I don’t read romance at all and have no interest or desire too.

      2. Ahhhhh, gotcha. That makes perfect sense. Cheesy definitely is a hard section to get into. I think too many Princess movies made me into the cheese lover. What is your main genre that you read?

  1. Ohh my gosh! This list makes me want to read all the cheesy romances. Sometimes you simply need those fluffy feels. Makes me so excited for the books coming out in this year!

    1. Yes! When I was writing it, I had to keep telling myself to calm down the feels because now I just want to read a cheesy romance. XD But I so agree that sometimes the serious and intense books need to go on the backburner and just enjoy the fluff. Glad I got you excited (now I’m not the only one XD) since there are going to hopefully be some good ones!

  2. Ooohh these sound really sweet! I haven’t read a cute, cheesy romance in ages and I definitely feel like I need one.
Geekerella and Wesley James Ruined My Life sound (and look) simply adorable! 🙂

    1. Yessssss! I’ve been in a string of serious, sciencey books, and as you said, sometimes you feel like you just need one. XD I hope you get to one soon 😉
And yesssss, I can’t decide which ones I need the most off this list, but those two are definitely up there!! 😀

      1. When it comes to the fluff, I ADORE Jenny Han, Morgan Matson, and Jennifer Smith. I’ve NEVER read any Sarah Dessen. I know, SHAME! But heard hers are incredible.

      2. Ooooh, okay, I will definitely have to read a few of theirs then! I have yet to make it to any Jenny Han books, so I will try to get on that ASAP. Lol. XD I’ve only read 2 so there is some book shame for me as well. Along for the Ride and Just Listen really were quite good, though.

      3. Every time that I honestly feel like I make a dent in it…I discover I still have 500 more books to read. It really is never-ending as you said. D: How are you doing on your challenges so far for beating it?

      4. I’ve done three backlist books this month. I’m REALLY focusing on my ARCs and NetGalley challenge right now. Plus staying up on the New releases! 😅😅😅 So much fun though!

      5. Woo! But oh gosh. XD It’s super overwhelming when you throw in ARCs, Netgalley reads, the ones you wanted to read in the past, AND the new releases. Books, books, and more books. But as you said, super fun. XD Just makes it hard to figure out what to read next. I’m in that situation right now. But I’m glad you’ve gotten a bit further into the backlist!

      6. I always have a bad habit of not sticking to all sort of challenges, so I only did the Goodreads one. According to them, I’m 3 books ahead of schedule…which always makes me wonder if they’re excited for me or judging me a bit since it’s like, girl, you’re 3 books ahead of schedule. What are you doing with your life? XD

  3. Great list!! Cute contemporaries are my ultimate weakness. I don’t think I’ve added a book to my TBR as fast as I just added #famous, lol. I’m loving digital-based contemporaries right now for some reason?? And When Dimple Met Rishi is super high on my list, I’m so excited for it!

    1. Mine as well. They are always a must for me on the TBR. Lol I haven’t read too many yet, but I have started seeing a lot more and they look so good! And yesssss to Dimple! Why does it have to be in May? D:

    1. I’ve actually only ever read one of her contemporaries, and it was okay. Her other non-contemporary book, Pivot Point, was amazing. But thank you very much and hopefully you will like it when you get to it! 😀
