WHO ARE YOUR AUTO-BUY AUTHORS? (siobhan)

MANDY: Simone St. James, Elizabeth Acevedo, and…I think that’s about it. Even with my favorite authors, I tend to get picky, so I don’t always pick it up.

SHA: Renee Ahdieh. That’s about it. I usually shop by synopsis not author.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK GENRE NOW, AND WAS IT DIFFERENT 5 YEARS AGO? (alex)

MANDY: Ummmmm, hmm. I would say probably contemporary now, and it was probably mystery that was my favorite back then. I still love mystery, but I’ve really expanded and don’t get to it as much as I normally do.

SHA: Right now, it’s fantasy with occasional shifts towards contemporary. But five years ago *checks calendar* oh yep, we were deep into vampires then. Paranormal. (Actually, still fantasy, but I added a few years to make this more interesting.)

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK TO SERIES ADAPTATION? (charlotte)

MANDY: I don’t think I do? I can’t think of one that I’ve read and then really enjoyed. Hmm. I’m still going to keep going.

SHA: A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket.

WHAT IS YOUR NEW FAVOURITE TV SHOW? (siobhan)

MANDY: I’ve been watching a lot of fantastic ones with stuck at home. Three that I loved was Veep, The Outsider, and Disney Fairytale Weddings. All of them were brilliant!

SHA: All Rise. Watching an Black woman power-walking to the front of a courthouse (because she’s a judge) in a well-pressed suit and heels to bang her gavel and silence bickering men (lawyers *eye roll*). Oh yes.

WHAT SUPERNATURAL CREATURE DO YOU THINK WE NEED TO SEE MORE OF IN FICTION? (charlotte)

MANDY: Can I say Bigfoot? I always love me some Bigfoot.

SHA: Witches! I want witches! *stomps feet*

WHAT AUTHOR WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE BOOKS FROM? (charlotte)

MANDY: Mason Deaver! I’m waiting for their next book in so much anticipation.

SHA: Um, Renee Ahdieh?

NETFLIX OR HULU? (tyr)

MANDY: Both. But if I had to choose, Netflix gives more of a variety…but I do enjoy some Hulu things, for sure.

SHA: I don’t even think I’ve seen an advert for Hulu before. It has to be Netflix for me.

WHAT IS YOUR PERFECT BLOGGING SETTING? (alex)

MANDY: Curled up on the couch with music playing hat brings on the energy.

SHA: Okay, picture this. The window is open, letting in a warm breeze. It’s 30 degrees outside (Celsius). Mid-afternoon. Yes, I want to be outside soaking in the sun, but the beautiful weather invigorates me as I throw an overabundance of exclamation marks into my newest blog post. (and them remove too many and sound like I’m writing an essay, oh well.)

COKE OR PEPSI? (tyr)

MANDY: I don’t think soda, but if I have to, Pepsi.

SHA: Neither. I don’t drink soda, coffee, or tea. Or alcohol. Feel free to take the next five minutes to ponder, “But then what does she drink? How does she have fun?” It’s okay. I’m okay.

HOW MANY BOOK SERIES HAVE YOU STARTED BUT HAVEN’T FINISHED? (alex)

MANDY: Does this include book 1 books that I started, didn’t enjoy, and gave up? Because I think we might be here all day. I did try to combat this earlier this year with the Complete a Series or Two Challenge.

SHA: Oh no. I can’t bring this number up in polite company.

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING? (tyr)

MANDY: My friend and I discovered the book world, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how I wanted to be a part of the community and that I had to take part of it somehow since it looked so amazingly.

SHA: Because I wanted to create something positive in the world. I hope I am still doing that. (:

  2. Ahhh thank you so much for nominating me! ❤ I am honored!
I also love the Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. And I can’t wait for Mason Deaver’s next book! Haha I also have SO many series that I’ve started and not finished…oops 😅
Very excited to answer your questions – thanks once again! ❤

    1. You’re welcome, Margaret! How could we not, you bring so much joy into the book community. Shall we just start with your amazing Women’s Month Read-a-thon? (that I fail at joining even tho feminist books are my absolute fave). Can’t wait to read your answers.

  3. 😀 It’s so fun to see how our tastes change over the years! I also went from mystery to contemporary (and fantasy, always) over the last couple of years.

I love the idea of writing on the couch or bed, all comfy and tucked in. But in reality, I can only focus properly when sitting at my table. Lol

Ahah, omg.. the started series will haunt me forever. I actually sat down and counted them all this year… I’m not sharing the number. *facepalm*

    1. It’s hard not to love contemporary now, too, since the quality has gotten so great!

Haha, I *wish* I could curl up in bed and write a post. But then I would… sleep XD So we’re the same on this, only focusing at a table.

Yes, let us never share the number of series we have started and never finished. *pledges*

  4. These are great questions! I love the Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation too, both the film and the sNetflix series actually. And I’d love to read more from Mason Deaver. I really enjoyed I Wish You All the Best!

    1. Ooh, a fan of the film! Usually people try to distance themselves as far as possible from the film. I think the film was funny (and good in that respect)– but I appreciate the TV series more for how it sticks closer to the source material. Just a big fan overall! Thanks Azia!

  5. This was so fun to read! 🙂
I like to blog on the couch with my favorite music on. When it’s Sunny outside, I tend to not blog at all and bask in all the sunlight while I can.
Soda, coffee and alcohol are not my favorite either. I don’t drink it at all (sometimes coffee without caffeine though) I do drink looooots of tea. Even in Summer. Tea = ❤ haha

    1. Thanks Jas! I am the absolute same when it comes to sunshiney days. I hate to know I spent the whole day inside, on my computer, when I could have been lounging outdoors. I can accept that love of tea, haha. I’ve grown into a love of cold tea, but that may be as close as I get. Oh well!

  6. Aww yay I really enjoyed reading this. I feel like I have auto buy authors but it’s not so much just because the books are by them, it’s because I adore the sound of everything that those authors write 😅 ooh I still need to finish ASOUE (the adaptation, I have read all the books). I was watching it with my sister then she got super busy so I never finished it.
Ooh I do really want to see The Outsider sometime but I’m trying to hold off so that I can read the book first.
And I’ll have to look Mason Reaver up as I haven’t heard of them. I do have all of Renee Ahdieh’s books on my TBR though!!

    1. I agree with you on the “sound of the authors” thing, Charlotte! (If I’m understand right, that is.) I love their prose, the rhythm to their writing–so I’ll buy anything they write. Ah, since you admitted to me, I will also admit that I have yet to watch the latest season of ASOUE. We need to get on it!

      1. Yeah their writing styles are ones that I adore. Plus some always have such awesome ideas too.
Hopefully we’ll both get to soon then. I hope you love the latest season.

  7. Aah, thank you for tagging us!! I love the questions you gave!

!! Sha! I always forget that Canada doesn’t have Hulu. Well, until I go to Canada and then am unable to continue watching the shows I’m in middle of while I’m there 😅 I’d still choose Netflix over Hulu though, partly because of the variety, but also because I do adore several Netflix original TV shows. Ooh, I’m now imagining a supernatural team-up book with forest witches and bigfoot. It needs to happen. I loved reading you answers, great post!! ♥♥

  8. If the choice is between coke or pepsi, coke is the only right answer in this household.
People in my family who choose pepsi over coca-cola are shunned. (ie. my dad)
Know if you add Kolashampan as an option….totally different story
