Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Breaking the Spine where each week we discuss upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Broken Things by Lauren Oliver
It’s been five years since Summer Marks was brutally murdered in the woods.
Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend. That driven by their obsession with a novel called The Way into Lovelorn the three girls had imagined themselves into the magical world where their fantasies became twisted, even deadly.
The only thing is: they didn’t do it.
On the anniversary of Summer’s death, a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls Mia and Brynn back together once again. But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods all those years ago—no matter how monstrous.
Okay, like, basically any novel that has shady things happening in woods, Mandy will always be there? Like, I just need to continue my fear of closely congested tree areas and just keep the mystery going. I have enjoyed some of Oliver’s books in the past, and one of them really did throw me for a major loop, so I’m intrigued for this one. This one sounds quite a bit different than the usually mysteries, and that cover is so much love for me.
What do you think? Is this on your book TBR as well? What books are you waiting for this week? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
I liked this book, but I am a fan of Oliver’s. I hope you enjoy it when you read it.

I’m not the biggest fan of these types of mystery stories but I’m trying to be more open to new stories. Plus, that cover is gorgeous 😄

I think any book where the main characters are inspired by or might be influenced by their favorite book is something I’d be interested in. This sounds like a dark take on that, so that’s going to be neat. 😮 I don’t think I’ve ever finished an Oliver book, so this would be my first one. She wrote Vanishing Girls, right? I think that one is on my tbr as well.

Yes, me too! It totally drives me into a book, too. And I’ve read only a few of hers, but I did read The Vanishing Girls a while back and thought it was quite intriguing. Hope you enjoy it! 😀
