This was such a fun and interesting tag, so I thank Miss Abigail for tagging me in it! It definitely made me put my thinking cap on – even though it is quite unfashionable, but I tried. XD Check out Miss Abigail’s post here, and then check out the rest of her blog because it is quite entertaining and inspiring!
Let’s begin!
- Trump vs. Clinton: Name is your favorite character rivalry.
Okay, I’ve tried to think of one for a ridiculously long time, and I cannot think of one to say my book life. My thinking cap might need to be tightened a bit if the rest of this book tag is going to go well.
- Turkey Failed Coup: A book you started but failed to finish? DNF.
Oh, the list goes on and on and on. I have a habit of DNFing a lot with books. The quickest? Probably Kiss Cam by Kiara London. I think I managed about 3 or 4 pages before I knew this wasn’t the book for me.
- Pokemon Go: What book did you buy or read based on the hype? Did you enjoy it?
I have a habit of either falling into the hype or being a book hipster and avoiding it at all costs. The Lovely Reckless was definitely one that I fell into the book hype with. I definitely didn’t love it as much as everyone else seemed to, but it was an okay read.
- Stranger Things: What’s one book you want everyone to read?
Oh, the list goes on and on and on as well. Since this is the book that I’ve recommended to just about everyone, I shall recommend it yet again: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. It’s full of action, adventure, morally questionable characters, the feels, humors, waffles, and so much more. How can you go wrong? *tries to tamper the inner fangirl*
- Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Mr. Robot: What was your favorite book cliffhanger within a series?
Um, none? I hate cliffhangers. I yell at books when they do that to me, which leads me to book conversations and book rants about it. Me = not a happy Book Princess with cliffhangers.
- The Tragic Crisis in Aleppo: Name the last book that made you cry or teary-eyed.
Oh, huh. I have a habit of not really crying at books. I honestly can’t remember the last time I actually cried with a book. The closest I’ve been to one in a while, I think, was You Were Here by Cori McCarthy.
- Brexit: Name a book you have an unpopular opinion towards.
Oh goodness. Sometimes I’m Captain Unpopular Opinion time…okay, most of the time I’m Captain Unpopular Opinion with some of the most hyped up books. If I just have to pick one…I shall pick Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. I was just not a fan of this one and had to DNF rather early on.
- Four new elements discovered in the periodic table: Name an author you discovered/read for the first time this year.
- #AllLivesMatter: Your favorite diverse read.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo definitely fits this one perfectly. Six of Crows was my favorite read of this year anyway, but it truly showed diversity – not only with its LGBT characters, different ethnicities and religions, but also Jesper struggled with ADHD. So many times, authors can struggle with handling all of these elements, but Bardugo handled them with ease and wonderful ability.
- Zika Virus: A book that spread like wildfire.
What Light by Jay Asher. I hadn’t even heard of it until a few months ago, and every second I blinked, I saw it on someone’s blog and on the Goodreads recommendations. Perhaps because it was a Christmas read, but it was everywhere.
- Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY won the Oscar: What was your most anticipated book release this year?
Caraval. This book cannot get here fast enough. I just want to bask in the book hype and let myself be washed in the YA goodness.
- In Memorium: Name a memorable character death.
Spoilers, spoilers, and more spoilers. Matthias from Crooked Kingdom. *eternal crying for this man’s cold, cold soul*
- Samsung phones: One book that blew your mind this year!
The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St. James. I honestly expected nothing from this book. It was just a book that added to my Book Outlet cart to get to a certain amount, but when I read this, I was shocked by the depth that it had to it. It was a wonderful novel, and I was obsessed with it. It doesn’t look like everything special, but it holds a fantastic ghost novel inside.
Since Miss Abigail nominated four people, I shall do the same:
~ Ava from Reads, Rhythms, and Ruminations
~ Krysti from YAandWine
~ Rendz from Readingwithrendz
~ Tiana from The Book Raven
However, if you want to do the tag, please add yourself to the list, since it was quite a bit of fun! Just let me know if you decide in the comments, and I shall definitely check it out!
What do you think? What did your 2016 Year in Review look like for books?
I hate cliffhangers with a passion too… Why do authors keep on writing them??
Such a cool book tag! 😊

They are the absolute worst. I get you want people to go to the next book, but I’m more than fine to dive into a book later on even if it is wrapped up decently. XD What about you?
Thanks! 🙂

Totally agree! If I enjoyed the book, I will want to read the sequel, cliffhanger or not (although I could do without it). But if I didn’t, well, a cliffhanger is going to turn me off even more!

Exactly! They should leave enough questions unanswered to get me interested enough, but you made a fantastic point. If you’re not going to read a sequel already, then what’s the point of adding in that cliffhanger? 😛

I think deep down authors are a tiny bit sadistic hahaha
They love watching us suffer 😥

Lol. I think this is definitely true. XD They probably add in a “Muhaha” as they type it out, knowing it will hurt our book souls. 😛

Lol. Oh no! I’ve only read the first two books of Falling Kingdoms, but I could definitely see where should be evil genius author enough to do that. D:

Ahahaha oh gosh! I would at least try to hide the evilness, but I guess embracing it works too? XD Maybe I will wait a bit longer to finish out the series then…XD

Hahaha I don’t know if you can help it though! And yes, it might be her/their reasoning I suppose… Makes them all the more charming 😆

Ahahaha. Oh gosh, true. XD I can do this? But yes! Charming in the evil genius way >.>

Thanks so much for the tag! It seems like a lot of fun. Loved your answers. Guess I’ll just have to read Six of Crows after so many positive opinions! 🙂

It definitely is, and I can’t wait to see your answers for it! Thanks, and yes!! It really is deserving of all the hype…although if you hate it, can I blame someone else? XD

I know What Light was everywhere, haha. I even read it because I wanted a Christmas read. Sorry IMO the book wasn’t good at all. The cover is beautiful though, might be why a lot of people wanted to read it, idk.
I’m also really anticipating Caraval 🙂

That’s what I heard about it! I haven’t really seen a very positive review for it, but I think you’re right about the cover part. It was so cute and Christmasy that it definitely would draw a lot of people in. I will definitely make sure to skip it then!
And yes! I haven’t gone so far as to start counting down the days, but I’m getting close. XD

Haha start counting the days girl. No just kidding 😛 I know the feeling when you anticipate a book so much you are starting to count down the days haha.

Lol, I really should, though. XD I keep thinking it’s coming out earlier than it is and I’m like, no, just stop, you have a few more weeks to go. You must contain the fangirling. XD

Really interesting to find out you dislike cliffhangers, I’ve always been indifferent about them.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It might have to do with my impatience. XD But if you’re good with patience, I could see where you could be indifferent. XD

That moment when you read the CK spoiler and have to burn your eyes and memory…because I’m reading the book now.
Thanks for tagging me Mandy! 🙂
