#2020BookBloggerAwards: it’s nomination time!

You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!

Because the embarrassing truth is that this is our first year submitting nominations for the Book Blogger Awards. I don’t know what shenanigans Mandy was up to for the Awards’ first two years, but I know last year I only learned about their existence after the nomination round closed. (I hopped on for voting though!!)

This means we will be going extra hard for the fourth edition and sharing the blog love with as many of our fellow bloggers as we can spot. If we don’t nominate you, though, we do want to say to please please not take it to heart. We appreciate ALL of your hard work!!

A huge thanks to May @ Forever and Everly and Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books for hosting this year. We will not be nominating people for every category, so be sure to check May’s or Marie’s post to see the full list of categories. If a blogger has close to or less than 500 followers, spot a ✨ by their name.

Sorry if any names are spelled wrong / links are incorrect. Anyone else who has done a nomination post knows how easy it is to mix stuff up, and this block editor is not making things any easier. It was not intentional!

⇨ Lori @ The Reading Fairy : Lori forever has a diverse selection of books featured on her page. She is a teen blogger, and she always brings that perspective to the book blogging world, even with posts and points in her reviews about the pros/cons of being a teen blogger. β€” MANDY
↳ Hardships of Being a Teen Influencer

⇨ LaRonda @ Flying Paperbacks : Between amazingly thorough reviews, incredibly witty posts, a vibrant voice, and a Instagram feed that is so pretty it often feels ethereal, Flying Paperbacks is where it’s at for me. I absolutely adore LaRonda’s content, and it’s so easy to get lost in the world of entertaining posts and dazzling graphics. β€” MANDY
↳ Five Stages of Grief: Recommending a Book and they Don’t Like It

⇨ Kelly @ Another Book in the Wall : It’s not accurate but I sometimes think of Kelly as the Reigning Queen of Teen Bloggers. She started the Teen Influencer directory, and she’s shared a lot of the struggles for teen bloggers with us boomers. β€” SHA
↳ A Bookworm’s Guide to Removing Stubborn Stickers

⇨ ✨ Margaret @ Weird Zeal : Margaret is creative, constantly coming up with original content. She reps hard with feminist and LGBTQ+ books (in particular, though she reads quite diversely). And she posts so. Dang. Consistently. β€” SHA
↳ 40+ Queer Books by Black Authors to Support this Pride Month (and Always)

⇨ ✨ Alice @ Love for Words : Alice’s reviews are beautifully written and well-detailed. She reviews primarily YA, and I know that after reading her reviews, I’ve gotten the complete truth, and can spend my coin confidently. β€” SHA
↳ Book Review: A Song Below Water

⇨ Kaya @ A Fictional Bookworm : I’ve actually forbidden myself from reading Kaya’s book reviews too often, because she’s too good at writing them. She always convinces me to pick up new YA when I’m supposed to be keeping to a budget. β€” SHA
↳ A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Review! // one of the best YA mysteries I’ve ever read

⇨ ✨ Acqua @ Acquadimore Books : Acqua knows SFF so well, and as a person that is still a contemporary lover at heart, this blog is a lifeline for me when trying to see if a book is going to be worth going to. I absolutely love how in-depth the reviews get, and they have such a wit and winning one-liners. β€”MANDY
↳ Review: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

⇨ ✨ Fatma @ The Book Place : Even though this is not a genre that we love or dabble in, we have to give Fatma the props for keeping us engaged with insightful reviews that make us consider picking up a book or two. Plus, can we talk about how much we adore her blog theme based off The Good Place??? It’s adorable. β€” MANDY
↳ Book Review: False Knees by Joshua Barkman

⇨ Destiny @ Howling Libraries : When I want quick facts on a book (content warnings, major themes), I love Destiny’s review format. She shares quotes from the book and her main thoughts in a concise way that lets me decide quickly if I want to add to TBR or shuffle on my way. β€” SHA
↳ Girl, Serpent, Thorn: Blog Tour

⇨ ✨ Belle @ Belle Can Read : It’s majorly hard to convince me (and most people, I would think) to read a book review on a book they know nothing about. But Belle’s writing voice and captivating titles do it for me EVERY. TIME. β€” SHA
↳ Frankly in Love by David Yoon // a hilariously heart-warming story about fake dating and cultural limbo

⇨ ✨ Nadia @ Headscarves & Hardbacks : Nadia single-handedly (and unknowingly) added about ten books to my TBR in less than five minutes. She hosts #RamadanReadathon and creates amazing lists of book recommendations by Muslim authors. β€” SHA
↳ 19+ Books by Muslim Authors

⇨ Xandra @ Starry Sky Books : I’ve only said this to Xandra about ten times, but her discussion posts are worthy of sit-down time with popcorn. They spark actual discussions between Mandy and Iβ€”and if you’re not already a fan, you should be. β€” SHA
↳ What Do You Think About Spoilers?

⇨ ✨ Chana & Malka @ Paper Procrastinators : C&M come up with some of the most original discussion topics I have seen. I’m always interested by the thoughts they share and how it stimulates my own thinking process. β€” SHA
↳ The Art and the Artist: Can You Separate Them?

⇨ Ilsa @ A Whisper of Ink : There is something so calming about immersing yourself in A Whisper of Ink. It has a muted beauty that we want to live in with the pastel goodness, the adorable graphics, and the stunning post headers. β€” MANDY
↳ My Most Anticipated Book Releases for the Last Half of 2020

⇨ ✨ Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads : I was sold the moment I saw the header. The artwork on MR is stunning, and the little kitty on the post banners is literally telling me to click and read, like, right now! β€” SHA
↳ Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts)

⇨ Julie & Mary @ Struck by Stories : Someone needs to tell Julie and Mary that blogs aren’t allowed to look this nice, because the human eyeball is not prepared. Whenever I click onto SbS, I need a full moment to adapt to the beauty of the site. It’s just … so good. β€” SHA
↳ Book List: 50 Anticipated Children’s/YA Book Releases

⇨ Caitlin @ Caitlin Althea : There’s something right about reading one of Caitlin’s posts. Her formatting and prose work together seamlessly to convey her tone so she’s not just words on a screen. She’s Caitlin, right there in the room with you, sharing her thoughts. β€” SHA
↳ Caitlin Reads: 2020 Releases with F/F Romances

⇨ Kal @ Reader Voracious : I would not be half the blogger I am today if it was not for Kal. She provides fantastic guides & resources for free and self-hosted WordPress users. β€” SHA
↳ Accessibility Matters: How to Make Your Blog More Accessible

⇨ ✨ Alice @ Love for Words : Alice provides useful tips to get access to audiobooks, ebooks, and websites that will help readers. (I never say no to the occasional free good.) β€” SHA

↳ Book Bloggers Appreciation

⇨ Yesha @ Books Teacup and Reviews : Yesha frequently shares other bloggers’ posts to her Twitter page. I know I’ve gotten hits on my content after people spotted her tweet and decided to come over. It’s a super simple act but Yesha always takes the time to spotlight creator content and it’s appreciated!
↳ Happy and You Know It by Laura Hankin

⇨ ✨ Margaret @ Weird Zeal : Never mind that Margaret started her own read-a-thon for Women’s History Month, but she also creates original tags, has fantastic discussion posts, and comes up with amazing post titles. β€” SHA
↳ Women’s History Month Readathon Announcement

↳ Why I Never See My Family in Books: Blended Families are Families Too

⇨ Jenna @ Bookmark Your Thoughts : Bookmark Your Thoughts is a fantastic blog β€”and if you don’t know, Jenna is also rocking it on her Instagram. I feel like I want to live in her Instagram aesthetic, and most of my comments are just a mass of heart eyes emojis. She always manages to stay on top of book topics, show so much supportive love to her fellow bookstagrammers, and always finds the coolest tags. β€” MANDY
↳ 8 Books About Women Empowerment || Discussion

↳ Books Based on My Favourite Karaoke Songs

⇨ Xandra @ Starry Sky Books : If you’re having a bad day, Xandra will be the one to send you cute animal gifs and check in the next day to see if you’re doing better. She always has kind words and is one of the best friends you can make in this community. β€” SHA
↳ What Do You Think About Spoilers?

⇨ Rendz @ Reading with Rendz : 90% of the content Rendz churns out is her screaming about an upcoming Latinx book or screaming about a released Latinx book, be it MG, YA, or General Adult. She doesn’t care, if it’s Latinx she’s ready, and she’ll bring you the enthusiasm. β€” SHA
↳ The Representation Book Tag & My Very Near Future Latinx TBR

↳ Recreating our Favourite Book Covers

⇨ LaRonda @ Flying Paperbacks

⇨ ✨ Margaret @ Weird Zeal

⇨ Lori @ The Reading Fairy

If you made it through this nomination list and didn’t follow at least one new blog, I’m going to assume it’s because you’re already following everyone here.

In which case, you must then comment on at least one of the posts I linked up. Not this post! If I see you posting below, I will 100% ask which of their posts you also commented on. Because I know you read this far and saw my demands. and also, have you checked up on / contributed to the BLM progress recently?

Especially since I haven’t been as active the last 2.5 months … so thank you so much! You both (and others) make me so happy to be apart of the book community! I’m happy I’m finally starting to get back into things! So thank you so much! You two are ABSOLUTELY amazing … so keep up your amazing and positive atmosphere! And your amazing blog (I’m still SLIGHTLY mad I didn’t think of rating books by Disney Princesses first … just sayin’)! ! ❀ ❀ ❀

    1. why thank you Jenna!! We worked long and hard to try and get this list to where we wanted it– but we still keep seeing bloggers that we’re like, “Ugh, we should have added them!!” There are just too many amazing people in this community. But omigosh DO NOT SAY YOU ARE UNWORTHY O: (especially since a lot of people have been slowing down the past few months). We all have something to contribute to this space πŸ™‚ and you were nominated for a reason! Haha, Mandy got in with the Disney princesses too quick πŸ˜‰

It does feel nice to slowly get back into blogging. I’m glad I’m just easing my way in rather than going all out. And I know!!!!! UGH!!!!!
