I was looking around for a book tag that was easy and sort of different than the other ones I had been doing, and this one caught my eye. I used to be soooooooo into paranormal novels. Like, back in the 2008 time, there were so many different offerings out there for them, and I devoured them all. Since Sha and I are rereading one of those classic series, I’ve been in a throwback mood and this just seemed like the perfect tag.
It was originally created by Katytastic, and you can see it here.
Vampire
I remember vaguely liking Vampire Academy back in the day, but by the time the middle of the series came around, I was just so bored. I couldn’t even deal. It just got to be so boring to me, and I just remembered I loved Christian and that’s it?
Werewolf
Haven by Mary Lindsey! I’m not a werewolf gal (something about big and furry doesn’t quite get my love going?), but this one was quite well done.
Zombie
Literally the last zombie book I read was back in that 2008 time, too. I wasn’t super into zombies, but I do remember reading quite a few. You’re So Undead to Me was me and my best friend’s book jam. Literally the only thing I remember was there was a guy named Ethan and he had bright green eyes and my friend was obsessed and we called him ghosting Ethan and I’m so intrigued again because whyyyyyyyyyy, us.
Ghost

Witch/Wizard/Warlock
The Wicked Deep is supposed to have some witches, and I’m stokeddddddddddd. I love witch stories – especially if it has the feel of the Salem Witch Trials.
Fairy/Fey
The latest one of these going around is The Cruel Prince. It wasn’t my jam, but I know it seemed like a true fairy/fey novel with cruel fairies that would eat your heart out.
Demon
Oh, gosh, I don’t think I’ve read many demon books in a long time and I can’t think of one to save my life. One book that does have some side demon action is My Soul to Take.
Angel
Lol, Fallen. One of the biggest regrets of my book reading life was reading this book. SO not pleasing. Just so many issues.
Alien
Pitch Dark! Scary, gory aliens in spaceeeeeeeeeee. It’s one of the few books that I’ve read that actually matched up the level of aliens.
Superpowered Human
Demigodsssssssssssssssssssssss.
Fun tag! Tagging myself.

Several of them I was like “Uh… I haven’t read any books about Ghosts except Harry Potter…” lol

Lol, yes! I didn’t realize just how many supernatural creatures there are out there and how many that I haven’t read in a large way before I got to this tag XD

I love me some night creatures!!! Although I don’t think I have read a book on zombies…NO WAIT I have and it was mehhhh, I haven’t read about werewolves yet, I think…yeah no I haven’t. Great answers Mandy!!! My sister actually had this phase when she only read paranormal–specifically angel– series and my goodness did she get addicted. It was never really my thing, but I picked up a few here and there.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss. There are some good ones. I remember there was a phase of zombie books. They were not very good at all, and I read like 4 or 5 of them that I’m pretty sure all involved like zombies attacking at a high school dance. But bad zombies. And werewolves I…I really have only read like…maybe 2? Furry men weren’t my jam. But ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yesssssssssss the angel books were hugeeeeeeeeeeee. Things just got weird with a few of them. XD

The single zombie book I read threw me of even. The zombies didn’t show up until the very end and that’s when the MCs decided to kiss (eye roll) bc that’s what 14 yr olds think about when they are about to be eaten…but then vampire hunters (?) swoop in and save them. (This book was the definition of the word mess)
Yeah, I’m not one for furry men either XD but I will take one with less hair and feathery angel wings XD

AHahahahah what book was this? I must know. It sounds so…intriguing and like the best sort of mess. Ahahahaa I shall too, Rendz. 😉

Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I was so confused reading this book. So, so very confused. The cool cover fooled me!

OMG, my grandma loves that author and keeps pushing her books at me. I might be stepping away from it now that you told me about this, lol. XD

Well I haven’t tried her adult books and I feel like this YA book that I read was in some way connected to her other series and I was just confused. I feel bad letting down your grandma 🙈

Ahahahaha don’t worry. The adult books don’t look promising as well. Grams’ best description of them are “weird, weird” books and IDK why she thinks it sounds good?

Omg, Moira, I feel the pain. I read the first one, and then I cracked open the second one and there was just this one line, like, hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo down there, and I’m like, nope. My apologies. Did it get any better?

Not really. There was some stuff I completely missed when I read them since I was pretty young, but then read some reviews and realized how bad they were. I also ended up forcing myself to cry at the end of the last one. Not my proudest moment.

Oh no, Moira. D: Books can trick us into being fooled by their goodness at one point and then realizing the terribleness of them lately. But at least it’s in the past??
