Just in case you missed one of the one million times that Mandy has mentioned it, she went to Yallfest 2019 this year. As she was preparing for it, she realized just how much all of the elements of a book festival/con could lend itself to a tag. So, why not create yet another BPR Original tag???
RULES
.x. pingback to the creator of the tag, @bookprincessreviews .x.

.x. have fun! .x.
Author Lineup
Name your top 3 authors that you would like to meet.
MANDY: Rick Riordan, Simone St. James, and Elizabeth Acevedo
SHA: Renee, Renee, Renee.
The Official Schedule
How do you determine what books you’re going to read next?
MANDY: It depends on the month. Sometimes, I’ll try to keep more of a schedule of reads especially if it’s a readathon. But even then – and what happens most of the time – is I’ll go based off whatever catches my fancy and whatever mood I’m in. Definitely a total mood reader.
SHA: Currently, I’ve been looking at the library to see what is available. Then I read what catches my eye. If I have an ARC review due within two weeks, then that takes precedence.
ARC Drops
What ARC would you wait hours in line for?
MANDY: The King of Crows by Libba Bray. I NEED I NEED I NEED.
SHA: Right now, the sequel to Sky Without Stars. I need. the sequel. ASAP. (Between Burning Worlds by Brody & Rendell)
The Swag!
What bookish merch/pre-order incentives/etc. is your favorite?
MANDY: I always like the sound and look of enamel pins, but I really don’t do anything with them. Same with the art prints – love them, but definitely don’t use them. Book sleeves would probably be where I would be most excited.
SHA: The only book related item I use are bookmarks and book pins. But the pins can’t just be “here’s the book title slapped on!” In general I’m not a fan of book merch and have never received pre-order incentives.
The Panels
What topic would you love to see some of your favorite authors talk about?
MANDY: I think it would be interesting to tackle strength – mental, emotional, and physical – in YA fantasy. Most of the time, we see just physical strength talked about in our protags, but I really would like to see more authors expand and discuss how/why/we need more looks at mental and emotional strengths in this genre along with how their characters do it.
SHA: I’d love authors to talk about what convinces them a certain element needs to go in a book. How do you know THIS is right for the book, and not THAT? Why should a character prefer science to English class, or be completely enamoured with bad boys instead of the sweet boy next door? How does an author decide at the end of the day? (I feel like it’s a lot of guess work and trial and error, but I still want to hear the answers!).
Yallfest, Yallwest, BookCon/BookExpo, YALC, Etc.
What book festival/con would you go to if you had the choice?
MANDY: All of them??? Is that an option?? Probably Yallwest, because it’s not too far from Disney, and that would honestly be the trip of dreams.
SHA: YallFest because Mandy and I will FINALLY MEET IN PERSON THERE WOOO but also really okay YallWest because there are sights to be seen there and I could make a whole trip of it. BookCon feels too intense and I’m more a free entry, purchases inside type of person, ya feel?
tag…you’re it!
Sara @ The Bibliophagist / Kyera @ Kyera’s Library / Siobhan @ Siobhan Novelties / …and whoever wants to go to a book festival!
I’ve always wanted to go to a Book Festival! Really interesting tag idea. I’ll defiently take part if I ever get the chance to go to Book Con x

This is such a great tag, I can’t wait for King of Crows to come out and would sell my soul for an early copy and I’d love to hear what it is that makes an author decide on certain aspects of their story over another 😀☃️

Thank you, Michaela!! And omg, I’m totally with you. Maybe if enough people sell our souls they will grant us our wish?? And yes!!
