Another month down, and another month of Mandy being confused on what she actually read. Well, I guess this is still a thing?
🧚 fairy blessing: Our readathon is next month, and I’m ready for all of the spooky reads!!
🧚 fairy blessing: This girl had a much needed vacation, and got some good reading time in.
🧙 stepmother’s curse: Summer is officially ending, and I didn’t read, like, any contemporary books??? Also, like, this month was dismal, for real.

Best book of the month: Sky in the Deep. Worst book of the month: Lumberjanes Vol. 5.
The one bright light in this dismal end of summer month was Sky in the Deep. Yes, it was a re-read, but it was somehow even better than I remembered??? It full on moved up to the favorites shelf, and ugh, it was amazing being back in this world and writing. SO MUCH LOVE. Rules for Vanishing, The Girl the Sea Gave Back, and We Speak Storms were decent reads – good but not great.
This month was just a bunch of meh? Like there was nothing that wasn’t fully horrible, but everything was just okay??? Just super super super okay??? Ugh. I mean, great there was no sad ratings, but I want more.
👸 Next month, Sha and I are officially hosting Nightmare Before Book Princess Reviews aka Spooky September, our Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas themed readathon. We have 15 different prompts for you to read more spooky books before the official Halloween season begins. I’m so so so ridiculously excited, because I live for a good spooky book – give me some ghosts, haunted places, etc. and this girl is a happy camper (but based on all my spooky reads, I’mma be murdered out there.)
👸 I’m officially back in the blogging momentum! As you might have noticed, I had a few very bumpy months where I was up and down with my feelings on blogging. I’ve discovered that, like, IDK I CAN USE MY PHONE TO COMMENT AND BLOG HOP in a timely manner. Like, this is common sense, but it took this girl forever to get it together, lol. I’ll be popping up in your feed more often, which is probably more of a nuisance for you, lol.
👸 This girl did take a quick little much needed vacay this month, and I jammed in as much reading as I could. Is it just me or is the hardest part of packing figuring out what books you need?? I legit brought an armload of graphic novels and 3 other books that I tried to vary in case the mood strikes. I’m pretty sure it was heavier than my suitcase. I read 6 books and made an indent in a seventh, so that made up for some lapses in my other reading schedule.
👸 BPR was nominated for a blogger award!! Idk how, why, who, what, ANYTHING – but we were nominated, and I’m still screaming. So many thank yous for just the chance to be nominated, and your girls’ heads are still swimming in feels.
👸 I haven’t watched anything new after the stunning and crazy conclusion of my love, Dark. I’ve been watching Rick Steve’s Europe shows on Hulu to see all the places to add to my impossible travel bucket list and the rest of the random things my parents watch. I’ll be binging the Great British Baking Show since it’s dropping soon, and I’m thinking about starting Veronica Mars next. Has anyone watched and loved?
👸 And, um, this might be a thing?
A BPR princess might, indeed, be going to London, so any recommendations would be great!!
Sha and I will be participating in The Nightmare Before Princess Reviews Readathon (aka Spooky September) which is a Nightmare Before Christmas themed readathon. I’m so so so pumped, because it is official time for me to binge all the spooky books I’ve been counting down for. You can find the official TBR here for me, and our official announcement here.
Congratz on your nomination for a Blogger Award!
And lol, it’s always the hardest struggle what books to pack if you’re off for a vacay.. Especially on a plane with the weight and stuff…

I think it’s awesome that a reread was better the second time around. Good luck with the read-a-thon!

I’m so sad that summer is ending and I barely read any contemporary book, it’s like I break the oldest rule or something 😭 Also, A Nightmare Before Christmas-themed readathon??? I’m so in!
(I mean, I probably won;t be able to complete any prompts but I’m super excited!!!)

Congratulations on your nomination ☺️
So Ive literally just discovered how much easier it is to look at blogs on my phone too 😅 the one drawback is predictive text putting the odd typo into my comments which I always tend to notice after I’ve hit post 🙈
I hope you have a lovely time in London (: it’s not a bookish place to visit but I always think the Tower Of London sounds interesting to visit. Especially as they have a lot of information about the animals that have been kept there in the past. Including, of all things, a polar bear???

Ahhh sorry to hear that there were a lot of meh books for you in August! Hopefully you’ll find some new amazing ones soon 🙂 Haha I completely relate to struggling with what books to bring while packing 😅 ALSO I hope you have an amazing time in London!!! I think I already gave you some bookstore recommendations on Twitter, but I also recommend pretty much any museum (most of them are free!) but especially the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert. The Kensington/Hyde Park area is also really great for wandering around and finding beautiful, quiet spots to read if that’s what you feel like! Have fun with your travels, and happy September!!

Yes!! I’m hoping that the spooky vibes will bring some good ones. And it really is so hard. You have to plan for all the contingencies!! Thank you!! Sha sent some over to me, and thank you so much!! I managed to hit a few spots, but I’m definitely saving them up for the next time around. There are so much!!!

Ahahahaha yes! And lol, the BPR princess that went sadly did not come back with an accent so she is feeling a bit blue.

Figuring out which books to pack on vacation is so hard! Especially when you’re flying, like come on, this is my emotional support suitcase of books, what are you talking about weight restrictions? Yesss, Sky in the Deep is *so* good! Now I need to go ahead and have a reread too.
Hope you have a great September!! 💕❤

Ahahahaa ik!! Don’t the airlines know that we need options??? At least 10 pounds should be freed up for us. And omg the reread makes it even betterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Hopefully you do as well, Chana!! 🙂

I’m so excited for the Nightmare Before BPR readathon! Sadly, I can’t participate because my reads for the month are all decided already, but I’ll be living vicariously through you and all the participants :)) I’m also so so proud of BPR for getting nominated! You guys’ blog is so amazing and creative 😍
Lmao same. I can’t do ANYTHING related to WordPress on my phone. It eats my battery up extremely quickly. Plus, my phone just lags and breaks down when I try to blog hop or draft a post there 😦

Thank you!! And yes, we will try to have all the spooky vibes for you. And thank you so much!, Caitlin, that means so much!! ❤
And yes! I have to stop and do it in incremenets since my phone will start overheating or start over. But it's nicer with the Reader sometimes??? WordPress just tries to foil us everytime we need to use it, haha.
