BPR was nominated for a blogger award?? & a thank you to those who nominated us!!

*internal and external screaming*

Um, this is a real thing??? I definitely don’t know how it’s real life, but Book Princess Reviews is up for a Blogger Award. Idk how this is a thing, but it’s a thing, and we are foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrr grateful. Trust me, we did not think that we would ever get here when this blog was started almost 3 years ago. Mandy just wanted it to be seen by like 5 people, and now we’re here, and we are the mind blown emoji faces.

For a little backstory, we have been nominated for The Third Annual 2019 Book Blogger Awards, which is hosted by May @ Forever and Everly. There is a whole long list of different categories with specific genres of blogging, age groups, and more with some truly amazing bloggers—some we know and love while others are brand new to us—in these categories! We were nominated for the Middle Grade category—perhaps due to our screaming over Rick Riordan, Sha’s love of Gail Carson Levine/Gordon Korman, and Mandy’s constant push to get the whole world to read Hurricane Season???

Due to the craziness that has been plaguing BPR these past few months, we missed our opportunity to do our own nominations. However, we wanted to give a special shoutout to the amazingly kind and epic bloggers who took the time to nominate us. We are picking one of our favorite posts of theirs to spotlight, so check them out below!

Jenna @ Book Mark Your Thoughts

Post: Matilda by Roald Dahl

Jenna is a sweetheart, and we have certainly always fangirled hard over Disney and more. Her blog is stunning, and she always creates content that is interesting and insightful (her bullet journals are like no other).

We had to include one of Jenna’s reviews, because they are so good! We love how she sets them up—the pros and woes—with adorable little teacup graphics instead of stars; bullet points on if you might enjoy this if you like x, y, and z; and a great layout/breakdown of important points in the book. Matilda is an iconic children’s story —and one of her favorites—so it was so refreshing to see a new modern take on a childhood love.

novels and waffles

Kat @ Novels and Waffles

Post: INTRODUCING THE BIBLIOSMILE PROJECT

We’re a bit new to following Kat’s blog, but seriously, it’s a masterpiece. Everything on there follows the waffle theme so amazingly well, and the AESTHETIC. Omg, it’s so much. Everything Kat does is so creative, and we’re so in awe.

Kat just introduced a new project to her blog called the Bibliosmile Project. It’s all about introducing light and happiness and smiles to the bookish community, and I love it so much. I can always need a little extra dose of happiness in my life, and this is definitely going to be it. Kat shared her own story about how books helped her get smiling again, and I can’t wait for all the positive vibes that will be happening with this project.

marshmallow harmonies

Rhi @ Marshmallow Harmonies

Post: My 2019 Pride TBR Recap ft. Seven Mini Reviews And Me Actually Enjoying Them All??

Rhi is always a burst of happiness. Her blog features so many happy feels, snarks, and stunning graphics. It honestly feels like it is made of marshmallows with how light and fluffy it is, but Rhi always brings the hard hitting book reviews, tag answers, and more – all with her wonderful voice and flair.

One of the things that I absolutely love about Rhi’s blog is her post titles. They are so signaturely her, and I love getting a sneak peek into what is coming my way. In this post, Rhi tackles some of her Pride Month reads, and I now want to devour them all??? She has full on convinced me, and this sampling is definitely an epic showcasing of Rhi’s amazing reviews and personality. Rhi is unparalleled at convincing readers to check out new books. I never feel safe reading her reviews, because I know I’ll want to pick up her recommendations a.s.a.p.!

starry sky books

Xandra @ Starry Sky Books

Post: Everything We Need in a Percy Jackson TV Show

Xandra’s blog certainly leaves us starry eyed. Her theme is delightful and whimsical and just the whole aesthetic is so much love. She is certainly a star of discussion posts, and I absolutely love reading her thoughts since they are always so cleverly written. And chatting with her is always so much fun.

I had a hard time picking the post we wanted to feature, because Xandra had two posts that I thought of instantly. I had to go with this one, because it was SO MUCH YES. Xandra said all the truth in this post, and I now desperately want this to exist. She made so many good points on what went wrong with the first adaptions and how important the new additions need to be. I was screeching in agreement the entire post.

siobhan's novelties

Siobhan @ Siobhan’s Novelties

Post: Beyond the Blurb | How Blogging Has Helped Me as a Reader

Siobhan is a queen of the tags and Beyond the Blurbs. We always know that going on her blog that we’re going to find fantastic tags (and books to stuff our tbrs with after reading her answers) and amazing discussion ideas. Her Beyond the Blurbs bring so many fantastic and needed points.

Ugh, I had such a hard time picking just one of her Beyond the Blurb posts, since she has taken so many fantastic topics. This post really struck a cord with me. It’s so true that blogging has definitely helped me as a reader, and all of the points that Siobhan listed had me screeching YES ME TOO.

Sophie @ Blame Chocolate

Post: Theme Thursday: Boarding School Books

Sophie has been around since, if I remember correctly, BPR’s beginning days. She is one of the sweetest, and she always brings a much needed boost and a comment full of cheer. If I spot a comment coming from Sophie, I know we’re going to have a great conversation – which totally continues on her blog which is full of Theme Thursdays, reviews, and more!

Sophie created an absolutely fun meme called Theme Thursday, which takes on super fun themes and bringing you book recs focused around that theme. I certainly can get behind a good theme, and Sophie is bringing super fun ones and amazing recommendations. I used to be such a big fan of boarding schools when I was younger, and this brought me back so much. I may or may not be scribbling a few of these down for sure. 😉

These were the ones that we spotted, though we might not have caught them all. We want to thank all of these amazing bloggers, and all of the amazing bloggers reading this. This blog has grown so much over the past few years, and it’s because of the amazing support, welcoming arms, and kind hearts that you have given to us.

We’re coming up on three years soon, and it’s so much. Thank you to everyone!! Now excuse us as we go cry in the corner.

      2. okay, i’ll move here then. it’s done. studying for the citizenship exam now. 😂

i mean, i don’t know if it’s the same where you like (in Victoria was it?) but all the libraries here are connected. So I can requested a book from one library and they send it over. So in that whooole library system, they are constantly getting new books. At the local library, no, not always.

  1. Firstly, congrats on the nomination! You two lovely ladies VERY MUCH deserve it! And congrats to the upcoming three years!!! That’s so fantastic! I will be having my 3 year February 2020 … times flies, eh??

Thank you SO MUCH for the compliments … I’m very much blushing over here ha-ha! I love fangirling over Disney things with you two (ummm Frozen 2 trailer?? SO GOOOOD) and I’m glad we have gotten to know one another over the years! I’m happy you like my Bullet Journal posts! I’ve been TRYING to get better and more creative ha-ha!

AND THANK YOU FOR COMPLIMENTING MY REVIEWS! I’m ALWAYS NERVOUS that they are either too much or not enough information. I’ve been working on updating and changing the layout for YEARS and I finally feel like I have a good system down … so I’m happy you approve. I also love your guys’ reviews … honestly, they’re so informative and the rating system is incredibly unique!

You also mentioned some AWESOME bloggers here, which I think’s fantastic. Thank you both for being beautiful humans! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Time really does fly. Can’t you just remember your blog when it started, your tiny little baby, and how big it has grown now? So exciting to see all the places something you’ve created has gone, and all the places it still has to go!

Ummm, ummm, but that second Frozen trailer? Why must Disney drop these tantalizing tidbits so slowly, so casually, like it’s not utterly SHATTERING OUR WORLDS? I’ve never been so teased in my life. What is your running theory of the movie right now? The more people to Disney fangirl with the better!!

It certainly does take time to nail the perfect review system down. I feel like I’m still changing how I write mine? I always want to have all the info, but also not write a thousand word essay, haha. But yours are right on point, take that compliment, it’s well deserved! and thank you, thank you!

Thanks so much Jenna, I’m blushing now too you’re so sweet. 😍😍 Mandy and I are just doing our best to spread a little joy, and a little Disney love. Good to know we’re succeeding!

      1. I know eh?? I honestly had no idea if I’d still be blogging at this point … and here we are! It’s pretty insane!

Oh my goodness … I know, eh?? I literally FREAKED OUT in the theater when I saw the trailer. I NEED TO SEE IT! I’m not sure! From the looks of it, they seem to be opening the world a lot more … which I think is super cool. That isn’t really done in princess movies (other than Mulan). I find that part intriguing. And I like the subtle hint of Elsa’s powers are NEEDED this time rather than shunned … but I guess some more magical force? Maybe a new magical land but with magical forces that aren’t under control?? You??

I think we will ALL still change ours in some way, even if it’s a SUPER small thing. I feel you with the “essay”. My reviews used to be HUGE! I honestly don’t even know how I had the time. But the other thing is large reviews can be good, but mine weren’t. I had a hard time finding a flow, so middle range seems to be my niche. And thank you so much! I hope I can continue to make reviews that are informative but also leave lots of room for exploration for the readers 😀

Well … you and Mandy are fantastic, and you both are DEFINITELY succeeding! See … this is why I love this community. I feel like everyone is just so loving ❤

      2. I think when I saw the trailer I was just shocked. It was soooo well done, and an actual teaser not spoiling just hinting. I’m expecting a cinematic masterpiece at this point haha. Even the music! And you can sense the sisterly bond has only grown, which is amazing that a movie is focusing on sisters. But… the plot? I have NO clue. Maybe they think they have another sibling out there? And need to find her?

I agreee, there is so much kindness and support in this community. And a space for all kinds of book lovers. It’s truly wonderful. 💛
