Another month, another 30ish days of me not completing what I would like accomplished. LIFE. This is it, y’all.
I was aiming to read a lot of pride books this month, and I accomplished about half? Three were required reading for ARCs and what I had been finishing up prior, and others ended up being what was available from my library. I managed to tackle a lot of my TBR that I was aiming for, though. It definitely was a mixed bag of highs and lows, though, so well, you know.
🧚 fairy blessing: it was Pride Month, and I enjoyed some good pride recs
🧚 fairy blessing: I pumped out a TON of posts this month
🧙 stepmother’s curse: Sha is still struggling to balance blog and Australia life

*Please forgive if there are mistakes with the emoji reps! Sha did them last minute and has not read the books (except Romanov, and she strongly contests the DNF). If you spot an error, call it out in the comments.
There were definitely a few highs this month. While there weren’t any official favorites, Girls Made of Paper and Fire; Red, White, and Royal Blue; and Her Royal Highness were quite quite close to being it. I’m honestly not sure if I can pick a favorite out of them, because they just made me so happy to read them. I was afraid Red wasn’t going to live up to the hype, but despite having a few bumps, it was quite quite good. I WILL GO DOWN WITH THAT SHIP—and the other two books’ ships as well. Seriously, Her Royal and Red brought so much fluff, and THIS was how I needed to start my summer off.
The biggest low this month was Hot Dog Girl. What had a great sounding premise ended up being a mess because of the main character. I just couldn’t get behind her and the toxic behavior. These Witches Don’t Burn ended up not being a jam as much as I wanted it to be either. It was just a mess at times, and I wasn’t a super fan of the writing. The rest of the month just had some okay reads, which wasn’t too bad.
👸 We had a hiatus at the beginning of the month, which was most needed and definitely not used usefully for this girl, lol. Sha and I are still adjusting to the massive changes in our life, and we are still trying to catch up! We are definitely in a transitional phase, so bear with us as we are that little “page loading” thing that we hate when we run it into when our Internet is running slow.
👸 I’m also struggling a bit to equal out things in my life. I’m not sure if it’s burnout or I had some really good books or might have found a new show to love or work was too much, but I’ve just had a struggle to get myself seated and get the computer up. Therefore, blog hopping and moderations and comments have definitely fell behind. THIS GIRL IS TRYING. Just slowly, because I a mess. 😉 I’m hoping I’m working out of the funk, and that is my goal.
👸 I finished Brooklyn Nine Nine and y’alllllllllllllllllllllllllll. It’s too much. While season six wasn’t the best, I was still in deep with this show. Now I’m all caught up and idk when it’s exactly coming back and Y’ALL. I also got caught up on Buzzfeed Unsolved. Again, it wasn’t the greatest season, but the boys were great as usual. I was prepared for intense searching for my next binge, and the TV gods delivered in the form of an obscure German Netflix show that I had forgotten my love of.
👸 Have y’all heard of Dark? I’m OBSESSED. It’s this more adult version of Stranger Things set in a small town in Germany with time travel, mystery, soap opera level drama, and more, and it’s just SO MUCH LOVE. It’s creepy af, has an excellent cast, and despite twenty million things going on at once, it somehow makes so much sense and dlsneslgnraegkrea I JUST CANNOT WAIT TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. New episodes dropped this month, and I was like, kk, I’ll watch the season 1 finale and go into season 2…only to realize I remembered nothing of season 1. I just completed the season 1 binge, and I’m crying because this show is magnificent and I’m not ready. This girl <<right here>> is a total fangirl, and ugh. Someone love this with me too.
👸 Also, Bastille dropped new music this month, and omg, how I adore Bastille. *screams* Compared to the other albums, I forgot that like albums can just have 11 songs, so I keep expecting more. There are some songs that I know will have to grow on me, but there are some that I’m just screaming so much over. Gosh, Bastille is not only an aesthetic but just all the great music. “Doom Days” is literally on repeat.
Sha and I aren’t participating in a readathon this month, so, um, I’m back to being lost in the sea of all the many books that there are out there. Again, my goal is trying to read all of the books that are physically on my shelf, so I’m going to aim for that. However, I’m feeling a bit lost and aimless, so I’ll probably just screw making a TBR and just stare at my Goodreads and physical TBR until something pops out at me.
- The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan (…and perhaps the rest of the series if I can read it fast enough???)
- Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
- The Kingdom by Jess Rosenberg
- Always Never Yours by Austin Siegemund-Broka & Emily Wibberley
- AND IDK. I literally don’t know what to pick. Maybe it’s time to invest in a TBR jar, lol.
- I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver
- Don’t Date Rosa Santos by Nina Moreno
- Changeling by William Ritter
