Can’t Wait Wednesday: The Kingdom

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg

Welcome to the Kingdom… where ‘Happily Ever After’ isn’t just a promise, but a rule.

Glimmering like a jewel behind its gateway, The Kingdom™ is an immersive fantasy theme park where guests soar on virtual dragons, castles loom like giants, and bioengineered species―formerly extinct―roam free.

Ana is one of seven Fantasists, beautiful “princesses” engineered to make dreams come true. When she meets park employee Owen, Ana begins to experience emotions beyond her programming including, for the first time… love.

But the fairytale becomes a nightmare when Ana is accused of murdering Owen, igniting the trial of the century. Through courtroom testimony, interviews, and Ana’s memories of Owen, emerges a tale of love, lies, and cruelty―and what it truly means to be human.

Um, like this is everything? EVERYTHING? Omigosh, I love me a theme park novel (they are my weakness) and then give me a princess??? PRINCESS THEME PARK WITH WESTWORLD VIBES??? I didn’t even get into Westworld, but omigosh, I vibe this so much. Plus add in a murder mystery vibe, and ya’ll I’m legit running around, arms flaying BECAUSE I NEED THIS SO MUCH. SO MUCH. ✔️ THIS BOOK IS SNOW WHITE APPROVED! Snow is the original princess, so she definitely needs to give her stamp of princess approval. Plus, does the model on the cover not remind you a bit of Snow White herself? Wonder if it’s a bit intentional, oui?

What do you think? Is this on your book TBR as well?
