#BookBattle is a monthly post where you vote for your most anticipated new release of the month (from specially selected match-ups, that is!). Which are you most excited to read and why?
That’s not all. If you release a review on any #BookBattle books during the month, post a link in the comments below to help readers build their TBRs.
*The point of #BookBattles is not to say “one book is bad and the other is good.” It’s to see what piques your personal interest. No criticism is given to any author(s)!

KINGS, QUEENS, AND IN-BETWEENS. Perpetually awkward Nima Kumara-Clark is bored with her insular community of Bridgeton, in love with her straight girlfriend, and trying to move past her mother’s unexpected departure. After a bewildering encounter at a local festival, Nima finds herself suddenly immersed in the drag scene on the other side of town. RELEASE DATE: May 7 2019.
LET ME HEAR A RHYME. Biggie Smalls was right. Things done changed. But that doesn’t mean that Quadir and Jarrell are okay letting their best friend Steph’s tracks lie forgotten in his bedroom after he’s killed—not when his beats could turn any Bed-Stuy corner into a celebration, not after years of having each other’s backs. RELEASE DATE: May 21 2019.

THESE WITCHES DON’T BURN. Hannah’s a witch, but not the kind you’re thinking of. She’s the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she’s ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. When evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, Hannah’s sure it’s the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: her ex, Veronica. RELEASE DATE: May 28 2019.

My votes are going to Nocturna and These Witches Don’t Burn. I’ve had them both on my wishlist for so long that it’s weird to think they’re actually coming out.

They’re here now! (Well, almost.) I remember hearing about These Witches Don’t Burn back in… November? It’s great hearing about cool books early on, but then you have to wait for sooo loong…

Nocturna and These Witches Don’t Burn! I think they’ll certainly suit my taste and I’ve had my eye on them for a while 🙂 Can’t say I’m looking forward to the ones in the 1st round *shrugs*

I’m currently fighting off a book slump by rereading. You know those sword fights in Parent Trap or whatever? Picture me fighting off the book slump like that… 😉 Except it’d be the invisible air. I can’t choose what to read next though.

Hahaha, you paint it like such a hopeless picture. But rereading is a great way to get through a slump. At least you’re reading. I’m still getting back into the book world after my hiatus, trying to remember what books are out/coming-out, so don’t look at me for suggestions yet!

LOL it is a hopeless cause for me in a short amount of time now. If I finish a book before break at work I can’t immediately jump to a new one. 😭
It’s ok! I did enjoy Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. I think that was the latest new to me book I enjoyed.

That would be hard, jumping into a new book during break. At least you have time to get a bit done.

Yesss, I am trying to do it anyway, but I just can’t for some reason. 20 minutes just isn’t long enough to get into a new one.

Agreed. After twenty minutes, you’ve only just warmed up.

I’m a bit late to the party on this, but I have to say the first ones in each battle are my preferred! Everything Grows, Nocturna and Let Me Hear a Rhyme sound great!

Maybe my subconscious was placing favourites first? Haha. I was definitely excited about Let Me Hear a Rhyme, still haven’t gotten my hands on it but it looks so so good.
