🌞 Who has inspired you in your blogging style?

MANDY: Oh, oh, I’m not sure. To be honest, I didn’t read many blogs before I started. I was reading a lot of Goodreads reviews. I think I was influenced a lot by that and thinking I HAD to include a lot of background knowledge which I saw a LOT in reviews. But then I kind of just…fell apart and descended into me screaming – and I don’t want to blame that madness on anyone.

SHA: When I started blogging, my style was 100% college essay. Now I’m hugely influenced by some of my favourite bloggers, down to the way I format my posts and gush about books. Mandy’s fangirl voice with her extra consonants comes out when I’m in love with a book. I love Rhi‘s lowercase styling (you’ll see it often now), and how Kaya switches from large to small fonts. Xandra inspires me with her creative blog posts. I love how Destiny formats her reviews. I credit them for A LOT of my personal blogger growth.

🌞 What are some of your must read bloggers?

MANDY: Oh gosh, I have a lot of bloggers that I love looking for. Rendz @ Reading with Rendz, Kyera at Kyera’s Library, and Sam @ We Live and Breathe Books were the first blogs that came to mind. However, seriously, there are just so so many that I love and we would be here for dayyyyyyyyyyys if I went through them all.

SHA: I never miss any of Rendz‘s posts. I recently found Xandra‘s blog and every post is so good? Kathy brings the best discussions. And I have to mention my girl Rhi (again), I adore her and her blog.

*if we didn’t mention you & we frequently browse your blog, it’s not that we don’t enjoy! these are just some of our faves

🌞 What do you like to do in your spare time?

MANDY: You…you mean there is life beyond reading and blogging?? I didn’t know such a thing. Huh. But seriously reading and TV are my main forms, since I don’t have too much actual spare time in between work and here.

SHA: Watch too much TV. That’s a lie, there’s no such thing as too much TV. Hug my pets. Nap.

🌞 Who do you call when you need a ‘pick me up’?

MANDY: Sha, for sureeeeeeee. She always knows the magic words.

SHA: Mandy. She is perfect at pick me ups. idk how Mandy has a full-time job when 99% of her time is spent talking me out of my black hole of the day.

🌞 What is a go-to happy story you like revisit?

MANDY: The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller. It’s just so cute and funny and adorableeeee and it just makes me the happy.

SHA: I thought this said store and I had my answer all ready. Um, story. I don’t have a happy story I like to revisit. If something is happy, I’ll enjoy it, but I won’t re-consume it. I need characters to have a little bit of sadness otherwise I hate them a tiny bit. (unpopular opinion?)

🌞 Are you more of a morning person, or evening person?

MANDY: I’m a morning person by force, but really, I hit my stride in afternoon and could be an evening person.

SHA: I’m going with neither, because I would always rather be sleeping.

🌞 (In no particular order) Name some of your favorite things

MANDY: books, The Princess Bride, Disney princesses, Bastille, and, um, um, I’m sure either things.

SHA: sleeping, animals, makeup (cruelty-free), video games, music, books (duh)

🌞 Can you think of a place or object that you associate with a happy memory? What is it?

MANDY: Can I say Scholastic school fair? Like, that was ultimate joy for me.

SHA: The sun. Please come back to me!

🌞 What are some of your all-time favorite books?

MANDY: Grave Mercy. The Summer I Became a Nerd. It’s Not You, It’s Me. Cress.

SHA: The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Sky Without Stars. Grave Mercy.

🌞 What are some of your favorite blogging moments?

MANDY: Omg, there are so many. Can I say cheesily that like anytime interacting with the community is fun stuff? Oh? I’m being too fluffy, Sha? I do love me some buddy reads with Sha, and when I try to imagine I’m a YA heroine and then fail in How YA Lied To Me.

SHA: Collab posts with Mandy. All of them. And long comment threads with blog friends. Those threads have brought me great joy when I least expected it.

🌞 What makes a book an instant buy for you? Appealing cover, specific author, specific topic, etc?

MANDY: Despite my love of some authors and themes, I will honestly take a long time to commit. Like, even some of my authors that I totally fangirl about, I really have to look at the summary.

SHA: no disposable income = no instant buys. But an instant TBR for me is any book with mental health rep or a fairytale retelling.

know the rules say to nominate eleven people but I can’t be the only one who struggles to find eleven people who 1) aren’t tired of being tagged in all of my award/tag posts (sorry all!) and 2) actually do tag posts.

In any case, I’m going to tag two bloggers whose posts always inspire me to keep my own content *fresh* *exciting* and *passionate*! Cassandra | Amanda

And very important!!!!!! Pleaaase check out all the bloggers we tagged in this because we are not kidding when we say they are amazing and inspire us in all things. If you enjoy BPR even 1% you will adore the blogs we mentioned.

Our eleven questions: [1] What’s your favourite TV show? [2] You have a bookcase and you can decorate it. What do you decorate it with? [3] What’s your choice reading spot? [4] If you could get any 2019 release right now, what would it be? [5] What’s your favourite smoothie combination? [6] If you could have any animal in the world, real or imaginary, what would it be? [7] What book blogger(s) would you choose as your superhero sidekick? [8] What’s your comfort food? [9] What’s the first memory you can recall? [10] What is your favourite Disney movie? (I had to) [11] Who is the first person you (usually) recommend a great book to?

Do you share any of our answers?

  1. I loved the school book fairs – I let my small person spend a fortune at her last one and I worry that I had more fun than her 😀 Good memories.

  4. Thanks so much for the shout out, Sha! 💕 Honestly, I think YOU are also one of my inspirations, haha! I totally feel you about the college-essay style posts – when I first started blogging, all of my writing was so weird and boring and *structured* – but I’m glad that’s all behind me now! Everyone just takes time to find their own voice. 🙂

Thanks again for including me in the post ❤️

    1. You’re welcome, Xandra! I feel like I’m *still* searching for my blogger voice, I keep thinking I need to be super factual with everything, but I know the posts I enjoy the most are like yours: totally authentic, chatty, a friend on the other side of the screen. ❤️
