Top Five Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm where bookworms get to chat about their top five books based on different topics.
But how to define something that is practically perfect in every way?
*does it anyway*
Reading is educational. I mean, school is cool, but there’s something about reading about real world issues happening to people your own age (or around your age), with personalities you can relate to and get to know.
Books are imaginative and take you to new places. I’m not just talking about “I’ve never been to California and this book takes place in Cali and now I know so much about beaches!!!” (I have obviously never been and so have no examples.) I’m talking hello, surprise, it’s time to explore assassin nuns or pirates who love mermaids or actually talking monkeys why not.
Books create communities. Not that I don’t end up shattered and broken inside when my fave series ends, but then I have the chance to create my own spin-off ideas with friends who *also* are major fans. Or read some fanfic, or find shows that are based on the series.
Reading inspires. So much art is inspired from books. Writers take up the craft after being motivated by favourite authors. People with poor mental health can see characters with similar issues persevere and gain courage. Diverse reads provide representation that individuals might not be able to find at home.
Reading is emotional. In books I have found comfort that I didn’t always get from friends or family. I have laughed and cried, felt horrible embarrassment and hoped for love. Books have been the friend I can turn to no matter the time of day, day of the week, week of the year. That’s why I love reading!
Number 3 is so beautiful!! It’s so true but not something I’ve thought of really. You made my bookworm heart grow today!!! Thanks for participating 🙂

Ooih I didn’t think of that one but creating communities is an excellent reason Sha! I might borrow it in my post and give you credit! I love it!

I feel like so many people don’t realize how much you can really learn from reading.

Agreed! It’s my favourite way to learn new things, because it’s not just facts being thrown at me but shared from protagonists I can connect with at the same time.

Oh Sha!!! This was beautiful! I love reading because life needs a little excitement and what’s better than going on an adventure from the comfort of your own couch. Although I would love to go adventuring in the real world too XD

Thanks Rendz! 😀 Hahaha, adventuring on the couch is much less expensive too, though, right? In the real world can come with time, and the knowledge you’ve gotten from all that reading time!

I mean if we take into account all the money I have spent on books, theoretically I could have gone on a real adventure *awkward silence* but nope! What’s one compared to many!

*awkward silence continues* Yes we cannot compare the one to the many!

Great list! Reading is definitely emotional and I often find myself reading to escape into another world. I love learning about different characters and their stories just as much as I like hearing other peoples stories in real life! Awesome post yay reading!!
