From January 1st to January 31st 2019, Book Princess Reviews will be celebrating 8 different YA and MG book releases with a special event: JanuARCary!
On MONDAYS and THURSDAYS we will release ARC reviews for each of the books.
On WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS we will release a special post celebrating the two books we reviewed that week. The special post might be a character study, book cover comparison, teaser, and more. See full schedule below!
FULL SCHEDULE
January 3: SLAYER by Kiersten White
^^ ARC Review
January 5: Feature on SLAYER. In this feature, we’ll be diving into our favourite moments from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show. (And Sha will be absolutely fangirling over everything that series did SO. WELL.) Did Kiersten White hit the same marks in Slayer? To be discussed!
January 7: COME FIND ME by Megan Miranda
^^ ARC Review
January 9: Feature on COME FIND ME. In this feature, we will test our ability to survive in a Stranger Things world (which Come Find Me is likened to, as well as Gone Girl).
January 10: THE DEAD QUEENS CLUB by Hannah Capin
^^ ARC Review
January 12: Feature on THE DEAD QUEENS CLUB. In this feature, Mandy and I will answer (fake) Dear Book Princess letters for relationship advice and chat about the dynamic on besties versus boyfriends. Who should you trust with your heart??
January 14: GOODBYE, PERFECT by Sara Barnard
^^ ARC Review
January 16: Feature on GOODBYE, PERFECT. In this feature, Mandy and Sha will take a quiz to see how strong their friendship is, and then discuss how far bestie promises should go (a question protagonist Eden struggles with in Goodbye, Perfect).
January 17: A DANGER TO HERSELF AND OTHERS by Alyssa Sheinmel
^^ ARC Review
January 19: Feature on THE DECEIVERS. (Review coming later in the month.) In this feature, we will share what hi-jinks two book princesses would get up to at a school for con artists.
January 21: COURTING DARKNESS by R. L. LaFevers
^^ ARC Review
January 23: Feature on COURTING DARKNESS. In this feature, Mandy and Sha will share their experiences doing the different training classes expected from Death’s handmaidens. (We didn’t *actually* do them, unsurprisingly.)
January 24: THOMAS WILDUS AND THE BOOK OF SORROWS by J. M. Bergen
^^ ARC Review
January 26: Feature on THOMAS WILDUS. In this feature, Mandy and Sha share their own “doodle war” efforts based on Thomas’ favourite game with his best friend, Enrique.
January 28: ROAM by C. H. Armstrong
^^ ARC Review
January 30: THE DECEIVERS by Kristen Simmons
^^ ARC Review
Which book release are you most excited for??

Wow! This is so well planned out. I am really impressed. I sort of only have blog tours planned out in advance, and then select by mood. This sounds great!

Mandy and I were plotting this since mid December, it was a whole production. Things also got a little messy when I was unexpectedly approved for another January ARC last minute…. but it worked out! We don’t do a lot of blog tours because we like more freedom with when we post reviews. But we might try to do more this year.

I am very much looking forward to the SLAYER posts. I remember sneaking into my parents’ room when Buffy had new episodes on (it was past my bedtime) and watching it because I loved the show so much. Kiersten White writing this new book was such a great announcement last year. It’s going to be an awesome book, I know it!

OMG, I would have loved to experience watching Buffy as new episodes came out. As great as it was streaming everything at once on Netflix, there is also the thrill of thinking, What happens next?? I already know I’m buying a physical copy of this book in addition to my ARC copy, White hit a lot of emotional points for Buffy fans. ❤

That is great to hear! I loved how she dealt with some of the darker moments in her last book, ELIZABETH FRANKENSTEIN, and I think that there are a lot of similar feelings in tone between the two MCs, so I was hopeful. 😀

I didn’t get to read ELIZABETH FRANKENSTEIN!! I’ve heard only great things, so I really want to, but it hasn’t made it past my wishlist yet. I keep saying “when I have more money.” But from what I’ve seen on White’s Twitter, she’s a huge Buffy fan herself, and I think that helped for this book (as well as the future sequel).

Future sequel, you say? O.O Nice.
If you have a Kindle or the app, maybe you could keep an eye out for a sale? YA books go on $1.99 or $2.99 sales a lot, so that might be a good chance to snap it up.

Why do I always overlook these super smart ideas? I will totally look into this, thanks!

You’re welcome! I’m trying to think if there’s an alert system or something that let’s you know when a certain title goes on sale. 🤔 I know the Kindle app does genre sale alerts. Maybe Goodreads has something. 🙍 Browsing the website from time to time helps too. I find deals I never even realized were available sometimes. 😂

You’re so kind ahh thank you for even taking the time to think of an alert system! I’m going to prowl on the Kindle app now, and watch the site. That book will be mine! (for 2.99 or less) haha.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be more specific. 😅 I get emails sometimes with notifications about sales, but I can’t remember from whom or how they got set up. 😳
