BPR Original: The Sleeping Beauty Book Tag 💤

Sha and I are bringing a new feature to the blog. I absolutely love making tags, and I went off on a whole host of ideas that Sha and I could tackle. So, each month, we’ll hopefully be bringing a brand new BPR original book tag — just like how we did for the Halloween one last month.

This month, we are tackling Sleeping Beauty! She is one of the original princesses, and Sha and I were both amazed that there was no tag already created yet for her. Therefore, we knew we had to tackle it!

Sleeping Beauty: A Main/Title Character That is Overshadowed by Others

Mandy: I think this is a personal thing, but I definitely think Annith in Mortal Heart is a bit overshadowed in her own book. I mean, yes, everything is about her, but I was forever living for moments when Ismae and Sybella would pop up. She definitely felt shadowed for me.

Sha: Jason in Heroes of Olympus. Yeah, okay, I know that HoO is an ensemble cast but I always had the vibe that Riordan was setting up Jason to be the next Percy. Except Jason just fell so flat to me, especially matched up against *cough* *cough* LEO.

Prince Phillip: Name a Character You Would Slay a Dragon For

Mandy: My standard answers: Leo Valdez, Cress Darnel, and Carswell Throne. Although I think Leo would be upset that I’m over here slaying dragons when Festus is around.

Sha: Hannah in A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel. (Releasing Feb 2019.) This girl struggles with so many fears that I have had myself that I just want to be like, girl, I get you! I understand!! You’re not alone!

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather: Your Favorite Fictional Dysfunctional Family

Mandy: They aren’t my favorite, but the first dysfunctional family that came to mind was the Grant family from Save the Date by Morgan Matson. They were messyyyyyyyyyyy.

Sha: They have their moments of dysfunction (mainly by way of our boy Sevani) and their moments of bright burning love so I’m going with the Carter family from The Hate U Give

Maleficent: Name a Villain You Can Relate To (I mean, I might curse a few people for not inviting ME to a party)

Mandy: Um, can I say Octavian from Heroes of Olympus??? He is dramatic af and just all about the diabolical plans. I feel his need for all the drama.

Sha: Evie’s sister in Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. Going on a rampage because you just want to be united with the only person who can understand you, after being messed up by evil fairies your entire life? Yup. I feel it.

Briar Rose:A Book/Character Whose Name Confuses You/You Always Mess Up

Mandy: Am…Amtharia…the villain from ACOTAR. I have nothing for her. I’m also notriously bad with names. I once tried to remember a name for a book I read a year ago, and I’m pretty sure I gave names like Coco and Adam and it was like Andi and David.

Sha: Shazi from Wrath&Dawn. I always forget how to spell her full name, and I don’t know how to pronounce it. If someone has an IPA spelling for her name, I would appreciate! O:

Once Upon a Dream: A Book That Gave You Deja Vu (♪♫♬ I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam ♪♫♬)

Mandy: Royals/Prince in Disguise. I literally can’t figure out/separate the two in my head. They are one book in my head. Whelp.

Sha: I actually haven’t read either, but the summaries for You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone by Rachel Lynn Solomon and Rules for 50/50 Chances by Kate McGovern sound suppperr similar. When I read the latter summary, I thought I was reading the first one?

Blue Vs. Pink: A Character Who Can’t Make Up Their Mind

Mandy: Audrey Rose in Escaping from Houdini. You know what you did, Audrey.

Sha: Is it cheating if I say Addie Coleman from Pivot Point, considering when she can’t make up her mind, she goes on to use her powers to read what happens to her in two alternate futures … and thus the entire novel is born?

Sleeping Spindle aka Fulfillment of The Curse:  Name a Book that Turned Out Exactly How You Thought It Would Be (Good or Bad)

Mandy: Sasquatch, Love, and Other Imaginary Things. I knew it was going to be 5 crowns with that premise, and it wassssssssssssss.

Sha: The moment I read the first sentence in The Wrath and the Dawn, I knew it was going to be a five star read for me!
