Summary:
Oh, this month was a bit of a weird one. I mean, I read 9 books this month, which is so unlike this Book Princess. I will admit that I seemed to get bogged down by one audiobook that basically took the entire month to read, and I did get into a bit of a funk. And overall, it was a super weird month of ratings, too. I mean, I went from 5 crowns to 2 crowns and all in between. But I think it was overall a good month? Maybe??? It seems like I had some good ratings, but mostly it seemed mehhhhh.
The Highs
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein was totally my high of the month. It was brilliant. The characters, the writing, the plot twists and turns – everything was so so well done. I so so so recommend. Before the Devil Breaks You was really epic as well. There were some things I wasn’t pleased with, but it was such a good addition to one of my favorite series in YA. It’s so epic in mood/atmosphere, and I loved the whole team aspect. I want to push this series on everyoneeeeeeeeee. Seafire was epic, too, and full of alll the female empowerment. Girl in the Blue Coat and A Thousand Beginnings and Endings were pretty good ratings, too.
The Lows
I only had one real low and it was Hocus Pocus. It was a total mess, and while I liked the novelization of the movie, I wasn’t a fan of the sequel. Sawkill Girls was a lot of weirdness and I still don’t fully get what I read. And Dreaming Darkly was a lot of meh.
Other BPR Activities
Sha and I went all Halloween and spooky this month with a bunch of themed spooky posts. We even debuted our new tag, Disney Channel Original Halloween Movie Tags, which is based on all the classic Disney Channel Original Halloween movies that I miss soooooooooo hard. WHY ARE THEY NEVER ON??? Also, this lady just watched Hocus Pocus so at least I”m still basking in that.
The countdown is also on for this girl going to Yallfest. I think the panic is about to be setting in as I start to look at all the places I need to be and all the things I want to do. The schedule finally came out and I have two authors I want to see at the same time, and like is it about to be battle bots in here for my love and affection??? Idk, but you’ll probs be seeing some stories on Insta of me just going AHHHHHHHHHH. Also, I shall be doing the hiatus thing during that time.
Sha and I have some different things planned for November. We’re trying out some new things and trying to get into a new flow, so be prepared for some new things to be popping up. I’m feeling reenergized with all of it, and I’m super pumped.
November TBR
I will actually be participating in Bookishly Rebecca‘s and Malanie Love Fiction’s Read-A-Thon. Ever since we hosted one here at BPR, I’ve actually discovered that I can actually follow a Read-A-Thon, and they were pretty fun! I feel accomplished after that. This one is called Read-And-Chill-A-Thon, and our TBRs (Sha and mine) will be coming out later today. Since I’ll be at Yallfest this month, I need some chill reading, too.
Other books I plan on reading:
- Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers
- Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
- Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd
- Love a la Mode by Stephanie Kate Strohm
Anddddddddddddd that is honestly about it that I can figure out. I’m a total mess at trying to figure out what I want to read right now. Hopefully I’ll find some inspiration soon. Although, I mean, I’ll be at Yallfest and could be picking up some wondrous books so I might just fling everything to the win if I get some great ones.
I really want to read the Diviners series! I hope you have a great reading month in November π

I’m so glad you enjoyed Before the Devil Breaks You! I really want to read it since The Diviners is one of my favorite series, but I’m a bit nervous because we still don’t have a release date for the fourth book and I don’t want to have to wait without a new book for a long time

Omigosh YES. I had the same struggle, and my will power didn’t win out. The book is amazing, but it does end on a super hard note and you’ll definitely be wanting that fourth book ASAP. It’s so hard! D:
