It’s a little over halfway through the month, and I thought I would check in and see just how well I’m actually doing on sticking with a TBR and a readathon??? And I have to say that it’s been going swimmingly! That’s right – this girl is loving her spooky books and just needs to keep on going. Look at how well I’m doing on the scoreboard:
LOOK AT THIS. This girl has her reading groove back on, saved by the world of spooky books. However, it’s been kind of hit or mess a bit on how the books are actually shaping up? I feel like they are literally either AMAZING with five crowns or really quite meh. I haven’t had any disasters per say, but I have had quite a few two and three crowns. And I crushed a favorite book into a million little pieces like I usually do. I’ll be doing a full wrap up at the end of the month, but shall we take a quick peek at the highs and lows so far?
If you’re interested in joining in, you can find out more information here! I know many people are still thinking about doing it for October so it is not just for September!
The Highs
The Lows
I do have to say spooky Middle Grade really has been killing it. And I’m really in a bit of a lost direction for the rest of the month. I haven’t really been sticking to the TBR that I originally set as well as I planned to, but it seems to be going okay.
Here’s what I have left:
- Mayor of Halloweentown: Hocus Pocus: The All New Sequel
- What’s This: A Book with a mystery (which should be, like, the easiest read since it’s so general but I haven’t figured one out yet???)
- Jack’s Lament: a book with sad overtones (this one I’m having the most struggles with – please help with any recs!)
- Sally’s Song: a book with a love story (still waiting for Escaping from Houdiniiiiiiiiiiiii)
But overall, it seems to be going well, and I’m actually super super super shocked??? I totally thought this girl would be failing. But I actually have a new favorite to replace the one that I failed and I’m totally getting into the fall/Halloween vibes.
… Gillian Anderson wrote a book?? Sad to see it was a low point. I have to admit, I’m still intrigued! 😂

Yes! It honestly had such an X-Files feel to it. It was just rather dry, and while there was nothing really wrong with it, it just didn’t excite me. But definitely had solo Scully vibe!

You’re smashing it! I think I’ll take part in October, though I have no idea what I’ll read yet – I’ve got so many books that I’ve been saving for this time of year so hopefully some of them will fit! 😀

Thank you! And I can’t wait to see what you pick! I hopefully made them general enough that they should work. 😀

Awe I’m sad I’m only hearing about this readathon now! 😦 I would have loved to participate, haha.
Hope you’re having fun with it though!

We have people joining in October, too, if you were still wanting to join. 😀 But yes! Totally getting me into the spooky mood for sure.

I wanted to do this so much but I’ve been suuuuper slacking on the blogging front. It’s been like 3 weeks and I haven’t even gotten to look at your posts. It’s a mess. I really just need to print out the graphic, figure out my life and attempt to at least get a few checked off? Congrats on all your progress though!
