The Bigfoot Files by Lindsay Eagar
From the author of Hour of the Bees comes another captivating story that deftly blurs the line between reality and magic — and will leave you wondering What if?
The Loch Ness Monster. The Frogman. Bigfoot. Twelve-year-old Miranda Cho used to believe in it all, used to love poring over every strange footprint, every stray hair, everything that proved that the world was full of wonders. But that was before her mother’s obsession with monsters cost Miranda her friends and her perfect school record, before Miranda found the stack of unopened bills and notices of foreclosure in the silverware drawer. Now the fact that her mom’s a cryptozoologist doesn’t seem wonderful — it’s embarrassing and irresponsible, and it could cost them everything. So Miranda agrees to go on one last creature hunt, determined to use all her scientific know-how to prove to her mother, once and for all, that Bigfoot isn’t real. Then her mom will have no choice but to grow up and get a real job — one that will pay the mortgage and allow Miranda to attend the leadership camp of her dreams. But when the trip goes horribly awry, will it be Miranda who’s forced to question everything she believes?
BE. STILL. MY. BOOK. HEART. If you are new to the blog, you might not know that Bigfoot is my downfall. I have been fascinated by the big hairy creature since I was a babe, and Finding Bigfoot – which is more of a sitcom than a reality show – made it two million times worst. I love Bigfoot. I love books about Bigfoot. I mean, I had a full meltdown when I read Sasquatch, Love, and Other Imaginary Things. So ANOTHER BOOK ABOUT BIGFOOT? THAT INCLUDES MORE MONSTERS LIKE LOCH NESS AND FROGMAN WHO I’VE BEEN INTRIGUED WITH ALSO? I. Cannot. Deal. I also cannot breathe, because I need this so badly. I’m going to cry, okay. The feels are too much. Thank gosh, I have a physical copy in my possession thanks to the wonderful peeps at Candlewick Press and now I’m going to go sit in a corner somewhere.
What do you think? Is this on your book TBR as well? What books are you waiting for this week? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
Haha I know you were raving about The Truth Lies Here (if memory serves me right, it has Bigfoot in it, right?), but I didn’t know your obsession with Bigfoot was to this degree! But I must admit, this book sounds like a lot of fun; weird creatures plus adventure? Yes! 😊

It actually focuses on aliens…which is another thing I awkwardly fangirl about…but yes, it is sadly to this degree, LOL! What’s so weird is I don’t even believe in Bigfoot, but I still love finding out more about the hairy creature. And yes!

Oh whoops, I have no idea where I thought Bigfoot came into the picture with that book lol…. 😂 But I feel you! I have an obsession with golems and jinnis myself, so your obsession with Bigfoot ain’t weird at all!

I wouldn’t say I am all about Big Foot, but this sounds like it will be delightful and pretty heartfelt too. The middle grades books coming out just keep impressing me more and more this year.
