Goodbye Book Princess Reviews! πŸ‘‹

good bye GIF by Cheezburger

Book Princess Reviews entered the book blog world in 2016 and underwent a few changes here and there since its birth. (Namely, Mandy used to drop three posts a day like a maniac. Did she even sleep? Who knows!)Β But now. . . It’s time to sayΒ goodbye forever.

WHOA. Okay. Did I give you a few heart palpitations, a mild tremor of fear? BecauseΒ no fear, BPR is not going anywhere. I just succumbed to those pesky click-bait titles. In fact, Book Princess Reviews is not shutting down, but doing a little . . . re-branding, shall we say?

For our devout followers, you’ll have noticed that with the start of 2018 the blog began to introduce new features (and some new looks) all thanks to a certain someone *wink wink* wanting to shake up the place. Yup, I, Sha, joined Mandy as a co-blogger and suggested the blog adopt a lifestyle aspect (a.k.a. our #POLL feature, as well as posts about book shopping hacks and DIY tricks for book lovers). This July, BPR is going to enhance its lifestyle side, change up the blog colour scheme, and maybe some other things?

But before all that, I thought it best to ask the people Mandy and I aim every day to please: YOU! If you want a say in how BPR moves into the future, drop a comment below letting us know what you think of our blog, or answer any of the question prompts.

(And let me just disclaim here and now: Book Princess Reviews is still and always a book review blog first!)

Les Questions!

(Answer them all, or answer your faves.)
  1. What do you love the most about Book Princess Reviews? (Blog feature, layout style, writing, etc.)
  2. What feature would you love to see introduced?
  3. What makes Book Princess Reviews unique/stand out from other book blogs?
  4. How many times in a week would you like us to post? (Currently we post every day in the week.)
  5. Do you like how we format our posts? If not, how should we format them?
  6. Do you follow any of other social media? (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube). If not, why?
  7. What is your favourite feature on BPR?

Thank You!

We will use these questions to guide our re-branding and make this siteΒ even better for you!Β

  1. I was about to be all crushed. Cause Mandy got me to join WordPress from Blogspot.

Anyway…I like the writing style here. I like how we have books in common. I will pick up books because you guys reviewed them, I trust your opinions to get them from the library most of the time.

I think you guys should stick to posting what makes you comfortable, not us since blogging is a passion and if you try to schedule too much then it doesn’t make it fun anymore. I went through that a bit last month.

I do follow on all platforms..yours is the only Facebook I follow I think. I’d love to see more Instagram posts though! I just love pretty book photos or ebook photos.

    1. Don’t worry, BPR is not going anywhere anytime soon! This re-brand is actually because Mandy and I have so *many* ideas, we want to expand the site to include even more stuff. If only to have more hours in the day to write it all down! πŸ˜€

So glad our reviews inspire you to check out more books! That’s great to hear. And don’t worry, if Mandy or I really don’t like something, we would never force the content. We know that wouldn’t be interesting for anyone. But if you had something cool you’d like to see, and we didn’t even think of it, then all the better.

As for Instagram… you have to talk to Mandy about that one. She manages the Insta page, haha.

  2. You gave me a heart-attack when I saw the title. I was so worried that you were shutting down the blog. Well, my favorite thing about BPR is the writing. It’s super funny and I can’t get enough of it. When I first read one of your posts, I knew that this would be one of my favorite blogs. I can’t wait to see what happens with your make-over and all of the new content.

    1. So sorry for the heart attack Annalee! I forgot how truly dangerous click-bait titles are. I’ll put them in the “DON’T” category for BPR Version 2! πŸ™‚ Awesome, so glad the writing stands out. It’s certainly no fun when a post is dead serious, because you can get that kinda writing style anywhere. Haha, I’m working the re-brand and I can’t wait to see how the blog looks at the end either!

  3. Aside from the minor panic attack I just had…I am really excited for you guys! Obviously I love the writing (the wit and sarcasm) and I really enjoy the majority of your content! I would be super pumped to see some more DIY/lifestyle stuff too though (once in a while). Best of luck! :]

    1. Oh dear, sorry for the panic Samantha! I’ll leave the click-bait titles to other bloggers then, haha. So we shall keep up the wit and sarcasm and work on some DIY/lifestyle. Yeah, the lifestyle portion is more like 1/3 of the blog, while 2/3 is books (reviews, tags, discussions). We want to stay true to being a book blog will exploring some of our (Mandy and I’s) other passions and helping book lovers do the same, all in one place πŸ˜€

      1. Haha no heart attack, I just looked at it while I was at work and the preview didn’t alleviate my fears at all… I was just confused and sad.

  4. Ooh, here are a few of my favorite things about BP!
-I like that you guys are dual bloggers, have distinct writing styles
-You guys post consistently, but not an overload (I find every other day pretty good)
-Love the colors and layout. Pink, blue, white…yum. ❀
-I appreciate that you guys can gush without rambling (seriously, this can be a problem for me with many bloggers, but for some reason I love reading your posts)
-Aaaand…yeah, you guys are awesome. Sadly not that helpful in terms of constructive criticism, but I enjoy your blog a lot. 😊

    1. Thank you for the input, WC! SO glad to hear that you like the blog πŸ˜€ Being co-bloggers managing the blog does help in a lot of aspects… But I’m afraid the layout is one thing that may change! We’re talking bolder colours right now, royal purple, teal… Does this throw you off too much? Any comments help, haha!

      1. Hehe I personally like pastel colors because they make the text stand out more, but I’m down for change. πŸ‘ It won’t change the quality of the content, so go for it! 😊

      2. Haha oh no, I feel kinda bad πŸ˜‚ I hope I wasn’t being too negative about the change, because I’m always down for bloggers doing what they want. (After all, that’s where our motivation to blog comes in!)

      3. Not negative at all! Mandy and I were actually testing a bunch of bold backgrounds (think teal, magenta) and nothing was working. Then I read your comment and was like, okay, let’s just try another pale pink one. And we fell in love with our new current one! So you actually saved our butts from another week of testinf backgrounds we didn’t come close to liking hahaha.

  5. This is so mean! hahaha I cried out when I read the title of the post! haha I think that rebranding and maybe reconsidering what we have been doing is a great way to bring some new light to our blogs! Innovation and evolution! I am happy that you are not living! haha

    1. Re-branding and shaking things up also helps bloggers bring in new ideas and get some fresh energy… works for the readers and works for the bloggers! Mandy and I are happy to be staying too, we love the blog world too much to leave any time soon. ❀ Thanks for commenting, Satou!
