Waiting on Wednesday: Save the Date by Morgan Matson

waiting on wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Breaking the Spine where each week we discuss upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Andddddddddddddddddddddd this meme is back! I took a very, very, very long time off this meme – my last one was for Hunting Prince Dracula, so, um, seeing how long that has been out, you can see how that goes. However, I said to myself, I’ve been missing this meme – especially since it helped me realize when books are actually coming out, and I’m super excited for it again. Let’s see what this week brings us!

Save the Date by Morgan Matson

Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.

There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.

There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.

Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.

This looks like exactly the book to start off summer, and I can’t wait until it arrives on my doorstep next week. I read Matson’s The Unexpected Everything last year? Maybe the year before? IDK, all the book years are blending together now. ANYWAY, I read it, and it just brought allllllllllllllllllllllllll the summer feels…and I AM READY FOR ALLLLLL THE SUMMER FEELS. Fingers crossed that it will bring all the adorable cheesy goodness the summary seems it will have??

Are you excited for this book? What are you waiting for this week? Are you excited for this meme to be back? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

      1. P.S. I have been going on following sprees since last night and I think I have 50 followers on here and 177 on Instagram. Not that numbers truly matter. But there have been lots of dancing over them, haha.

      2. Ahhhhhhhhhh! That’s so great, Colleen!! WordPress really lends itself to that medium to get more. And a lot of publishers are caring a lot more about Instagram. So this is great!!! Congrats! ❤
