The Raven Cycle Book Tag

I would like to thank the wonderful creator of this tag for tagging me for it! If you haven’t followed Inside My Library Mind yet, you so need to be doing it! It’s full of amazing book reviews, bookish content, and amazing tags like this – plus the author of the posts is pretty awesome herself.

Now, I’ve actually yet to start The Raven Cycle, but I’m thinking after this tag I really need to? This sounds great, and I’m so intrigued by it. It’s definitely on my list of books I’m sort of scared to start because of the hype, but one day, I shall overcome it and try it. Let’s take one step closer to it today?

  1. Mention the creator (meaning me)in your post
  2. Thank the person who tagged you
  3. You don’t have to use my graphics, but you certainly can! Just be sure to credit me
  4. Be sure to include this set of rules in your post
  5. Tag more people so we can all enjoy it!
  6. Most importantly – HAVE FUN

bluesargent

Blue Sargent – your favorite quirky character

“Blue was a fanciful, but sensible thing. Like a platypus, or one of those sandwiches that had been cut into circles for a fancy tea party.”

I’m going to go with Iko from TLC. I mean, how would expect an android to be a lovable, adorable, amazing fangirl that I just SO relate to? She has evolved so much from being just a plain little robot with personality to the amazingly fierce, strong android/human that she is. I love her dearly – with alllllllllllll of her quirks being the biggest reason.

gansey

Gansey – a leader

“Gansey was just a guy with a lot of stuff and a hole inside him that chewed away more of his heart every year.”

…can I use Cinder from the same series? Will this just turn into another TLC fanfest? She is a leader, though, and she rocks it. Okay, maybe I will do Hero from Speak Easy, Speak Love instead. She truly led her ragtag team to making sure that Hey Nonny Nonny was open and just right every weekend.

ronanlynch

Ronan Lynch – your favorite character of all time

“I am being perfectly fucking civil.”

inej-full

How am I supposed to pick a favorite character of all time??? There are far too many. Um, um, UM, I DON’T KNOW. Cress and Thorne from TLC are definitely top loves, but I did do an in-depth discussion about how much I love Inej from Six of Crows. Those three plus Kaz are definitively some of the top characters that I’ve ever read.

adamparrish

Adam Parrish – a character you disliked at first, but you love now

“If you combined these two things – the unfathomable and the practical – you were most of the way to understanding Adam Parrish.”

It wasn’t so much dislike, but I rather I didn’t feel anything at first for Rhy from A Darker Shade of Magic series. I mean, he was just kind of there, and I felt that he was SO overshadowed by the magnetism of Kell and Lila. I loved them so dearly, and I thought nothing could dull my love for them being the top characters of the series…and then in walked Rhy in the second book and I was in loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. He truly was such a fantastic character, and I love, love, loved him in the end far more than I ever thought possible.

noahczerny

Noah Czerny – the most lovable character

“Depending on where you began the story, it was about Noah Czerny.”

Now can I talk about my lovable Cress. It’s been like 2 questions since I mentioned them, so I’m going to mention her here! Loved her dearlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

300foxway

The Women of 300 Fox Way – your favorite female role model

“ You could ask anyone: 300 Fox Way, Henrietta, Virginia, was the place to go for the spiritual, the unseen, the mysterious, and the yet-to-occur. ”

six-of-crows

Well, obviously Inej. XD But Nina is a fantastic female role model as well, And I do love Beatrice and Maggie and Hero from Speak, Easy, Speak Love. And then all the ladies from TLC. There are just so many out there!

glendower

The Search for Glendower – a book series you wish had never or will never end

“He was everything Gansey wished he could be: wise and brave, sure of his path, touched by the supernatural, respected by all, survived by his legacy.”

jackaby banner

To switch it up, I’m going to go with the Jackaby series! I feel like it could have gone on a lot longer and with more fun cases. I totally wish that it had never ended, and I’m hoping something of a spin-off will happen with. *fingers crossed*

mrgray

Mr. Gray – an anti hero

“There aren’t terrible ideas. Just ideas done terribly.”

John from Speak Easy, Speak Love! In the original Shakespeare play, John’s character is the nefarious villain that messes things up to mess things up. George re imagined the character with a lot more complexities and yes, he still messes things up but there are reasons and darkness and light to them. Loved him dearly and GOSH JUST READ THIS BOOK ALREADY OKAY.

psychics

Psychics & Tarot Cards – your favorite magic system

“It was impossible to forget that all of these women were plugged into the past and tapped into the future, connected to everything in the world and to one another.”

The Uncrossing Cover

A recent favorite was The Uncrossing by Melissa Eastlake. The magic itself and the unbreaking of it was so fascinating and then the whole complexity of the people around was brilliantly done. If you’re looking for a book to fill your ADSOM vibes, this is the book!

kavinsky

Kavinsky – your favorite unlikable character

“Reality’s what other people dream for you.”

Ermmmmmm, I don’t usually like unlikable characters? I usually fail with them. Oops?

cabeswater

Cabeswater – your favorite book setting

“Cabeswater was such a good listener.”

Speak Easy, Speak Love? 1920s speakeasy in New York’s outer limits. SOLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Tag….you’re it (or were the first four bloggers to pop into my head)!

Kyera @ Kyera’s Library (you’ve got to tell me if I’m tagging you too much XD) / Sydney @ Fire and Rain Books (she needs your help as well for a project so maybe take a looksie?)/ Anatomy of a Book Thief / Dani @ Perspective of a Writer

…and anyone that is a fan of The Raven Cycle books!

What do you think? What are some of your answers for this? Do we have any of the same? How much do I need to read this series? Let’s discuss it in the comments below!

  3. Yay thanks so much for tagging me (and shouting out my project!). I love this series and all your answers were amazing. Especially your love for TLC. I really ant to read Speak Easy, Speak Love after you kept mentioning it. Also, 1920s is SUCH a fun setting.

    1. Absolutely! ❤ I wanted to get it more out there. 😀 And thanks so much, Sydney. And yessssssssss, I definitely need to be a book pusher for you with Speak Easy, Speak Love. It really is such a cool setting, and I didn't realize just how much I loved it before that?

  4. Haha totally cool with the tags, I usually call it Tag Tuesday in my head so I’ve got a special day to do them and everything! I’ve never read the Raven Cycle either, but I hear about it all the time. I can’t wait to do this tag and I loved reading you answers!

    1. *breathes sigh of relief* Perfect! I was a little worried about it. XD But glad to know I’m not the only one that hasn’t read it, because I feel like everyone has. Do you plan on reading it it at all or just haven’t gotten to it yet?

      1. I’m pretty sure it’s on my Goodreads TBR, but I’m torn? I read her Wolves of Mercy Falls series and wasn’t impressed, but everyone raves about the Raven Cycle. Plus they’re all 4+ stars on Goodreads and the wolves ones are high 3’s. So I probably will eventually?

      2. That’s the exact same state that I’m in now with it. But that is good to know about the 4+ star thing, because I hadn’t saw that. Eventually will be the thing for it. Hey, random question, I’ve been meaning to ask you for a while, but I always forget: I was trying to follow you on Goodreads, but it won’t let me and I wasn’t sure if I could friend you instead? I didn’t know if you wanted to keep it a certain way without the book blogging overflow. 😉

      3. Hmmm maybe I have some weird privacy setting thing clicked, you are welcome to friend me. Your stuff is already on my feed, so I’m not sure if that means I’m just following you or we’re friends. I should check.

      4. Goodreads always confuses me, so I’m like, I need to figure this out and ask Kyera because I’m like, I need to get the book scoop. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as followers on them until a few weeks ago. XD

  5. I haven’t read THE RAVEN’S CYCLE series yet. Have you? I hear mixed reviews, so I’m conflicted in reading it. Anyway, LOVED reading your answers here. Love that you picked John too of course. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. I have not, Krysti! I constantly think about it, but you’re right – I’ve seen so many mixed reviews I don’t know what to do. I didn’t really enjoy her prior series so I’m always hesitant about that too. But thanks so much! And yesssssssssss John was amazing. XD

  7. Okay… I may do this tag even though I’m not tagged because I’m pretty obsessed with the raven cycle and I love the characters… 😅.

But anyways I loved your answers! Inej is definitely one of my favourite characters (I think the dregs in general all are) and I can’t have enough of them!

    1. Yesssssssssssssss, I would love to see your answers, Nia! 😀 And I definitely need to get on this book series if you’re obsessed with it. 😀

And thanks so much! But yesssssssss. I have such a hard time choosing which one is my favorite from them, because they’re all so brilliant. ❤

  8. *claps at all the TLC and SoC mentions because they are literally perfect* I totally would have filled in all of these with TLC and SoC answers so kudos to you for having a variety! Speak Easy, Speak Love is also a popular answer I see! Gotta read it. I actually have read the Raven cycle and I quite liked it! The story can get a little confusing…but I did enjoy the series! Great answers Mandy!!
