Heart of Iron by Ash Poston

An action-packed tale full of romance, royalty, and adventure, inspired by the story of Anastasia. Perfect for fans of Six of Crows,Cinder, and the cult classic television show Firefly.

Seventeen-year-old Ana is a scoundrel by nurture and an outlaw by nature. Found as a child drifting through space with a sentient android called D09, Ana was saved by a fearsome space captain and the grizzled crew she now calls family. But D09—one of the last remaining illegal Metals—has been glitching, and Ana will stop at nothing to find a way to fix him.

Ana’s desperate effort to save D09 leads her on a quest to steal the coordinates to a lost ship that could offer all the answers. But at the last moment, a spoiled Ironblood boy beats Ana to her prize. He has his own reasons for taking the coordinates, and he doesn’t care what he’ll sacrifice to keep them.

When everything goes wrong, she and the Ironblood end up as fugitives on the run. Now their entire kingdom is after them—and the coordinates—and not everyone wants them captured alive.

What they find in a lost corner of the universe will change all their lives—and unearth dangerous secrets. But when a darkness from Ana’s past returns, she must face an impossible choice: does she protect a kingdom that wants her dead or save the Metal boy she loves?

It’s no secret that I loved Ash Poston’s debut this year, Geekerella. If you haven’t had a chance to find out more about this book, please do, because it is one of the coolest and best retellings I’ve ever read. Geeky Cinderella with so much heart and funnies and feels. Seriously, check it out.

The book also cemented my love for Poston and her fantastic writing. Imagine my surprise when she announced a bit ago that her next book was going to be out in 2018…and was a mashup of Anastasia and Firefly. ANASTASIA. AND FIREFLY. Anastasia is one of my favorite princess movies of all time (so, so sorry, Disney), and she is easily a five crown princess in my world. So, um, a book that features anything like her by one of my new favorite authors? Oh, Heart of Iron, is already basically on my favorites list and I literally only have this summary and cover.

AND NOW THE SUMMARY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SAY FOR FANS OF SOC AND CINDER. IS THIS BOOK TRYING TO KILL ME?

Oh, 2018, why must you be so far away?

Check out more info about it here!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR THIS WEEK? ARE YOU AS EXCITED AS I AM ABOUT THIS? WHAT BOOKS ARE YOUR BUZZWORDS? LET’S DISCUSS IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!

      1. V.E. Schwab!! She will be here for comic con but I’m not 100% sure I’ll be able to make it. My sister from England will be here that same weekend so we will see. I’d love to meet her if I can though! She was here last year for This Savage Song but I had something that same night which I’m bummed about now!

  1. OMG I can’t wait for this one T_T Anastasia is probably my favorite movie/Disney princess of all time as well! I have never watched Firefly in my life but I believe its fandom when they says it’s epic XD
I didn’t think Geekerella was perfect but man, did it give me the feels! It was so cute! And I hope this one is a bit more serious, but equally enchanting. I need that in my life LOL
I don’t believe when publishers say “for fans of” because, rarely, does it hold true. BUT I’m giving this one a chance, nevertheless, and try really hard not get my hopes up too much!

    1. YESSSSSSSS. Same with Firefly, Sophie! I feel like I’m in deep with the fandom even though I never watched it. XD BUT ALL THE ANASTASIA LOVE>
Yes, I do agree. I definitely am hoping that it will have a more serious vibe, because I really can’t imagine the funny or light hearted feel up in space. XD
But sooooooo true. I always try to forget those because it always leads to exceedinly high expectations. But yes, I’m hoping for us, Sophie!! ❤ ❤

  2. YES! I saw this one on Goodreads not too long ago, and I just had to add it to my watch-list. I admit I haven’t read Geekerella yet so I don’t know much about Poston’s writing, but I am super excited for this one. Especially with the Six of Crows/Firefly vibe! 🙂

      1. I think she’ll nail it. I mean, just the little scifi elements she had in Geekerella, even though they were on a set, were fantastic. I’m sure it will be awesome. I cannot wait! I may have to totally copy you and do this for an upcoming WOW.
