Bonjour! As a kid, me and bingo kind of clicked. I don’t think anyone has ever felt the pure joy of saying bingo, running up to go claim your prize, only to realize that all the goodies are already taken and you get a pencil eraser. But still…you bingoed. So yay?
When I saw the amazing Kyera over @ Kyera’s Library came up with her own bingo, I was intrigued. I had always been interested in doing a book bingo, but I had always felt all kinds of confused by it. But Kyera is awesome (she has amazing book reviews, amazing tags, and this super cool series full of book recommendations based on the Hogwarts houses) and this seemed like fun, so I took the plunge.
Here is the lovely bingo square:
So, the rules?
Try to fill up your board with all the books that you read from June to August to have some fun – and you wouldn’t end up with a stupid pencil eraser at the end but instead a good chunk of your Goodreads challenge done…which I think is a much better accomplishment. So, I figured, like Kyera, I would spend this post going through what I plan to use in these squares or asking for some suggestions.
Row 1
Book with Yellow Cover – Ermmmm…I’m a bit lost on that one. Can On the Fence by Kasie West count since the spine is and the words are yellow? D: Any suggestions?
A Contemporary Read – It’s Not You, It’s Me by Stephanie Kate-Strohm (√)
A Book by a Female Author – The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy
A Book Genre That You Don’t Normally Read – Wild Irish Women (non-fiction) by Marian Broderick (I AM FINISHING IT THIS SUMMER – I DON’T CARE – IT’S BEEN A YEAR)
A Book Set In a Foreign Country – Murder, Magic, And What We Wore (London) by Kelly Jones
Row 2
The First Book in a Series – Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova

A Book Published This Summer – Love and Other Alien Experiences by Kerri Winfrey (√)
A Book With a Strong Female Heroine – A Gathering of Shadows (Lila Bard!!!) by V. E. Schwab

A Graphic Novel – Sailor Moon

This would be such a fun way of getting through my summer TBR! I might try this out, I’ve never done a book bingo before either😊

YES! It definitely looks like such a fun way to get through it and I mean, bingo is always fun. XD Can’t wait to see if you do! 🙂

This looks like such a good idea! I don’t think I’d be able to read that many books so fast, but I might give it a go anyway!

Yes! It definitely helps get a lot of the books that have been piling on the TBR for a while. But yes, it could be fun either way! 😀

Oh my gosh Sailor Moon! I’m sure it’s amazing, but you have to let me know if you read it what you think. Thank you for joining and I hope you fill the board!

IT. WAS. AMAZING. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I just got confused in a few parts with the plot, but it was amazingggggggggggggggggggggggg. My obsession is back in full force. You’ll definitely love, Kyera. Did you love it as a kid?

Of course! I was even Sailor Moon for Halloween once 😊 I actually re-watched a few episodes while I was here, I wish I could have watched more but I don’t have internet (just terrible data on my phone) – but I already added this to my wishlist on Amazon.

Ahhhhhhhhh, I’m jealous. I just remember having the dolls. And that’s next on my list. Did they live up to what you remembered as a kid? And lol, yay!

Oh yeah, I think I had Sailor Mercury. I don’t actually remember who my favourite Scout was as a kid, because I think I liked Sailor Moon, Mercury and Jupiter – but rewatching I can’t imagine now picking Sailor Moon as my favourite. (Obviously she grows and that would change, but initially… well they don’t call her crybaby for no reason.)

Ahahahaha. I don’t either. I know I liked them all, but I was talking with my dad and he’s like, you were NOT a fan of Tuxedo Mask and I’m like, oh dear, poor guy. XD
But ahahaha omg. XD She…yeah, she cries a lot in the manga. I found it hilarious. Luna is like, FIGHT, Sailor Moon and then she just starts crying. Definitely not Wonder Woman but very entertaining at least? XD

Oh gee poor tuxedo mask! Luna totally gets on her case in the show too. Ahhh okay, now I’m searching on my library’s site to see if they have an ebook version…

If you’re still not sure about the sci-fi square, you could always try Stitching Snow by R. C. Lewis. It’s a science fiction retelling of Snow White that I will continue to recommend to anyone who doesn’t like sci-fi books.

Ooooooooh okay. I might have to try that then. Because I was so lost. XD Thank you so much for the suggestion, Moira! 🙂

Oooo BINGO! I just might try this out!

Yes, Rendz! Once you fully committ, Rendz, you feel the odd need to get really competitive…although there is literally no one else you’re competing against. It’s a bit strange so watch out. XD

Oooooh! I want to participate in this! I’m going to see if any of my June reads count towards this yet! It might also help me get back on track with the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge…since I’m a tad behind…he-he! Great post and suggestions!

Oooooh, yes! I managed to get a lot of mine to fit with some working, so hopefully you do! 🙂 But oh dear. Hopefully it does, Jenna, and good luck! Thanks as well! 🙂

An awesome book with a yellow cover for summer is Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins! It’s an anthology of short stories about summer that vary in genre!

Ooooooooh, okay, I’ll totally have to do that – it’s literally the perfect time for it as well! Thanks so much for the suggestion! 🙂

Thanks so much, Krysti! I just have to figure out how to blackout my squares. XD But I think you are right. o.o My competitive streak is calling out to me, and I may totally feel the need to get a few blackouts! XD

Yay! Even though I’m 18 officially I still love Bingo’s and all those boring lab hours in college are spent playing BINGO with a lot of my friends. So this summer I had been really thinking about doing a bookish BINGO and now that I saw this post I think I might try it out!
Do update me about the books you’re using I’d love to know..

I KNOW. It’s like even as an adult, it’s still such a fun game. XD I wish I had some bingo buddies like you. XD But it’s super fun (I saw your post and will check it out in a few to see what some of your picks are!). 🙂

I’ll be participating in a different bingo challenge this summer! I’m quite excited because it’s my first time and I feel like it’ll be so much fun!
AND I NEEEEED TO READ SAINTS AND MISFITS. LIKE RIGHT NOW. 😍😍 Unfortunately I’m on a book buying ban AKA I HAVE NO MONEY TO BUY NEW BOOKS hahaha. Anyway good luck with your bingo challenge and have fun! ❤️

Yes, Jackie, same! I can’t wait to see what your bingo is like. Are you a hardcore bingo player, because I really do feel the need to try and outdo my bingo board.
AND YOU DO. It must be bought after the ban is done because it really was quite good. :O But thankies and you as well! ❤

I mean I can get quite competitive but I don’t think I’ll be able to fill all the categories from my bingo card thingy! *boo* I am hoping to get AT LEAST 3 bingos though! XD

Ahahaha, yes, but you got this! I definitely think you’ll get that. Although there must be breaks for fangirling.

A book about fandoms…..has everyone hear read Carry On? Rainbow Rowell’s follow up to Fangirl? I don’t know anyone who has read it and I’m dying to know if it lives up to her other work.

You know I’ve heard quite a few bloggers that I follow mention that they really enjoy it and like. I see them giving it a lot of four stars. Personally, I haven’t read it, but I have heard that it does! 🙂

This really is a cool bingo and seems very easy to do! 😀 And you have so many amazing books there!
I really wanna read Saints and Misfits, Eliza and Her Monsters, Bad Romance, Empress of a Thousand Skies and Odd & True! Those are for sure in my TBR, altough I don’t own all of them yet, sigh! Let’s see if I can manage them for the summer still!
I’ve read the first manga of Sailor Moon but I never continued, is that the one you are talking about?
Also, can I do like you did in my post? It’s a bit easier seeing by row!
Enjoy the bingo! ^^

Yes! All the other bingos seemed so intimidating.
I’ve read the first three, and you will loveeeeeeee them, Joana! But I’m with you on the last two. But yes, maybe it will work out!
And that is the one! What did you think of it?
And absolutely! ❤ I was trying to figure out an easy way to look at them all and I found this to be less overwhelming. Can't wait to see your own! 😀
You as well, Joana! ❤

My Goodreads says I gave it 3 stars but I can’t really remember the book 😛 I read it way to long ago… I guess I have to pick it up again! 😅 I saw you really enjoyed it tho! What’s your favorite sailor? ^^
Thank you Mandy!! 😍 It’s really much easier! Otherwise it gets a bit to big to put each image with the topic >.< Your way is just perfect!!
I think we will manage this bingo just perfectly! 😍

Ahahahaha oh no, Joana. XD That’s too fun. Oh, that’s hard so far. XD I love Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter so far, but it’s constantly changing. They’re all so brilliant. You?
And yessssss! We got this! 😀

From the originals mine used to be Sailor Mercury 😀 Nowadays I don’t know, I have to read them again ^^ But probably the same… I tried to see the anime again but I found it to be so terribly high pitched >.< I didn't notice that before…
Also I found your two obsession together!! 😍
I found it in google and shared it in my Pinterest here: https://www.pinterest.pt/pin/3166662221165260/
