Invictus by Ryan Graudin

Time flies when you’re plundering history.

Farway Gaius McCarthy was born outside of time. The son of a time-traveling Recorder from 2354 AD and a gladiator living in Rome in 95 AD, Far’s birth defies the laws of nature. Exploring history himself is all he’s ever wanted, and after failing his final time-traveling exam, Far takes a position commanding a ship with a crew of his friends as part of a black market operation to steal valuables from the past.

But during a heist on the sinking Titanic, Far meets a mysterious girl who always seems to be one step ahead of him. Armed with knowledge that will bring Far’s very existence into question, she will lead Far and his team on a race through time to discover a frightening truth: History is not as steady as it seems.

In this heart-stopping adventure, Ryan Graudin has created a fast-paced world that defies time and space.

After refalling in love with Doctor Who this season and also really enjoying Cold Summer featuring a World War II time traveler, I’m all about the YA time traveler plot – and this book sounds just the perfect fix for it. And I mean, look at that hook. It’s so perfect.

Plus, A HEIST ON THE TITANTIC? You can’t tell me that won’t be epic and tense and oh so perfect. Plus, there is an epic girl one step ahead? Count me in, count me in, count me innnnnnnnn.

Ugh, I just want this in my hands now. It seems amazing. Can it be September already? At least it will appease my Doctor Who withdrawals. Oh sigh.

What are you waiting for this week? Are you waiting for this book as well? What do you think of time traveling books? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

I’m not normally a science fiction fan, but I’m so intrigued by Invictus. I’m frustrated that I can’t pre-order it because I don’t have a mailing address for my university dorm at the moment.
