The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
When Dee Moreno makes a deal with a demon—her heart in exchange for an escape from a disastrous home life—she finds the trade may have been more than she bargained for. And becoming “heartless” is only the beginning. What lies ahead is a nightmare far bigger, far more monstrous than anything she could have ever imagined.
With reality turned on its head, Dee has only a group of other deal-making teens to keep her grounded, including the charming but secretive James Lancer. And as something grows between them amid an otherworldy ordeal, Dee begins to wonder: Can she give someone her heart when it’s no longer hers to give?
For some odd reason, this book always gets lost in my TBR pile, and I’m really not sure why – because it sounds awesome. I mean, deal with a demon; being heartless; and CHARMING BUT SECRETIVE. I love me a charming man. It definitely means there will most likely be swoons.
Plus, I mean, look at the cover. The little details look so cool. I mean, look at the font and the words and the cool distorted background, and I just found it really pleasing.
And I mean, finally, just look at how Lloyd-Jones describes it:
There are Faustian deals and Lovecraftian horrors, but mostly this book is about people. It’s about how the scariest monsters are often human and to escape those monsters we must leave parts of ourselves behind.
Plus, they say there is something called a Rumpelstiltskin Clause, and you know how I feel about my fairytales. I WANT THIS. I WANT THIS. I WANT THIS.
Check it out here!
THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD!!! Will have to check it out!

This sounds so cool! A Faustian deal? A heartless (kingdom hearts anyone?) And a charming yet secretive love interest? Count me in. This sounds really interesting. I’m also a fan of fairytales, so I’ve GOT to know what this Rumpelstiltskin clause is! 😀
