Cress by Marissa Meyer

*cough* This will not be very coherent nor logical nor anything remotely useful. I tried. I really did. It did not go well.

In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Oh, gals and guys, I have no clue where to even begin with this book. This was the book that originally got me feverishly hooked on TLC. While I knew I enjoyed Cinder and Scarlet well enough, this was the book that hooked me into the fandom and never let me go. I could never not love this series, but this book made me obsesssssssssssssssed.

The main reason? Cress. Thorne. Cresswell. Cress again.

I said yesterday I was Wolflet trash? No, I’m serious Cresswell trash. I said I would never read fanfic…this ship reduced me to reading fanfic about them anywhere I could get it. They were just so cute. Okay, it was probably tropey beyond belief, but it was just SO CUTE. THEY ARE SO ADORABLE IT HURTS. Oh gosh, the swoons, the feels. They truly are Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. AND I CAN’T HANDLE IT. CRESSWELL FOR LIFE.

But the real reason I love this book was Cress. She is this daydreamer with a desire to be free. She was so lovable and her dreams were my dreams. She was sensitive, sweet, and she just wanted to live like a star in the nets. Omigosh, I love her.

And Thorne? *forever swooning*

The rest of the crew was amazing. The plot was amazing. Everything was amazing. I was even convinced that I was amazing just by reading this book. This book, ugh, it was everything, and I can’t even try to get into in-depth reviewing skills here. I really tried. I feel like I got much further than originally planned and far less ALL CAPS use.

Five crowns, and a Moana, Rapunzel, Aurora, and Mulan rating.

five-stars

  2. I agree with everything! I loved Cinder and Scarlet but once I got into Cress it was all over, my heart was officially attached to the Lunar Chronicles. And I too have perused the internet for Cresswell fanfiction, lol.

    1. Yesssssssssssss. It did it to me as well. Who would have thought that the third book would be as wondrous as it is? And be the one that sucked you so completely into the fandom? But lol, yes, Fanfiction.net may or may be the place with some really cute ones 😉 Not that I would know *looks innocently around*

  3. I love Cress but my heart still belongs to Scarlet XD I’M SO SORRY!! But it’s true. Creswell is indeed cute and sweet and lovely but Wolflet? Yeah, I’ll go down with that ship!!
I did love Cress’s character though. And Thorne. Oh Thorne. I mean, I wouldn’t want to date him but I sure would love to hang out with him XD
Fanfiction will forever be a part of you, Mandy. It’s true. I know it, you know, we all know it. Just accept that fact hahaha

  4. Just came across this Blog and oh my gosh, I love The Lunar Chronicles Series so much! Thorne was one of my favorite characters and I really thought Cress and Cinder were the best in the series. Now that you mention it, I totally agree that Carswell is the Flynn Rider type!
