Waiting on Wednesday: Black Bird of the Gallows

LOOK. TWO WEEKS IN A ROW. Literally this will apparently be done every week. Me, being surprised that I actually managed to do my meme for the week. That’s so sad. Okay, off we go!

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Breaking the Spine where each week we discuss upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week is…

Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel

A simple but forgotten truth: Where harbingers of death appear, the morgues will soon be full.

Angie Dovage can tell there’s more to Reece Fernandez than just the tall, brooding athlete who has her classmates swooning, but she can’t imagine his presence signals a tragedy that will devastate her small town. When something supernatural tries to attack her, Angie is thrown into a battle between good and evil she never saw coming. Right in the center of it is Reece—and he’s not human.
What’s more, she knows something most don’t. That the secrets her town holds could kill them all. But that’s only half as dangerous as falling in love with a harbinger of death.

Okay, Sleeping Beauty totally told me that NO way that I could pick this for my choice this week, but um, LOOK at that description. IT SOUNDS AMAZING. But then Sleeping Beauty was like, um, excuse me, do you remember the evil raven that Maleficent had? But then I was like, BUT LOOK. BROODY BOYS. SWOONING. HARBRINGERS OF DEATH. HARBRINGERS OF DEATHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I now feel like I’m in a metal band. I didn’t even get to be a cool punk pop one – just jumped right to full on metal. But I’m so into it. I have this on my most anticipated reads of 2017, and I was literally sold on this novel with its two sentence description back when it first came out. So, you can safely say that I’ve been waiting a while on this. AND I WANT IT SO BADLY. But what is that? Oh, another September release date. But at least it will be a perfect fall read. Yay for that? D:

Check it on Goodreads here!

What do you think? Are you super excited to read this as well? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

  1. Hmm.. this one sounds interesting. But it also sounds like the book I’ve read before. I can’t remember the title though. It doesn’t have the exact same story or something but it kind of has the same concept, which is the heroine being caught up in the center of a battle. Haha! But if you read this, Mandy, I’ll be looking out for your review. Then I’ll think if it is worthy of a spot in my TBR. Lol! Haha! XD

      1. I wasn’t that satisfied by it. For me it wasn’t good. The age of the author was obvious while you’re reading the book. I mean, it felt like the author lacked experience to write a book like that. Huh.. how do I explain this more? XD
