Listicle Tag – Take 1

Whoosh. A lot of things have been happening on the Book Princess Reviews lately but do you know what hasn’t changed? My love of a fierce heroine. (really, the two things don’t relate but I just needed a good way to flow into it. XD) Erm, take two?

I was tagged by Not-So-Modern-Girl, and she also happens to be the creator of this fantastic tag – and seriously, this tag is seriously SO cool. I’m totally obsessed with it. Basically, you create a theme/concept (i.e. best comfy reads/best fierce heroines) and then you list your top five choices. So easy breezy while also being fun. Although I said this was easy breezy before I realized I would have to narrow down my top five favorite leading ladies. XD Also, make sure you go check out Not-So-Modern-Girl’s blog because it is full of such goodness – amazing tags she creates, wonderful reviews, and more!

So, here are the rules:

  1. Create your own listicle tag, using the prompt from the person who tagged you.
  2. Tag the creator of the post (not-so-modern-girl!) so that I can read all your brilliant posts and see how the joy of listicles is being spread.
  3. Nominate as many people as you want!
  4. Set those 5 people the subject/prompt of their listicle post!

The Prompt: Top 5 Favorite Female Characters

Wait, can this post just be all the TLC and SOC ladies? No? I have to have SOME differences? Well, okay then. 😉

The Ladies of TLC – Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Winter, and Iko (yes, I’m leaving you out, Levana)

Well, I couldn’t just pick one, could I?? It would have been mean and unfair to all of these epic ladies. I’m currently in a TLC re-read spiral and it’s so amazing. I can’t believe how much I forgot how fierce and strong these girls are. There is no question of their strength and power – they fight hard for those that they love and what they believe in; they fangirl; and they kick some major butt. Okay, one of them was a little crazy for a while, but did it ever take away her power? No, that was another crazy Lunar queen, but still. If you haven’t started this series and ever want to read about some strong – in all senses of the word – ladies, read these books.

Nina and Inej from Six of Crows

Well, clearly I had a bit more of a preference of Inej, since I used her as my champion in Book Madness. Here is the post about all of my love for her. But I loved Nina as well. She was hilarious, understands the love for sweets so well, and never stops fighting. While Jesper and his guns; Wylan and his bombs; Matthias and his wolf; and Kaz and his scheming face would definitely scare some people, if I had to be afraid of going up against someone, it would be Nina or Inej because they were definitely the fiercest for me.

Ismae from Grave Mercy

Credits to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

One of these days, someone will have to humor me and read this book so I can fangirl about it. XD I got into this book because the concept seemed so interesting – assassin nuns with an immortal god that is basically death as their leader. How could this go wrong? Add in one scarred, broken heroine who is ANYTHING but broken and kicks some major butt. She’s smart, she’s real, and she’s easily one of my favorite heroines ever. I literally couldn’t help but root for her. She was totally a wolf among the sheep. Check out the book here.

Alosa from Daughter of the Pirate King

Um, I loved this book. SO MUCH. And it was mostly due to Alosa. Not only did she ruin me for pirate books, but she became a character that I instantly loved from the beginning – which NEVER happens. Goodness. She knew what she wanted and she took it. She fought her own battles and if somebody served something bad to her, she dished it right back. Check out my review here and find me fangirling more about her there.

Gauri from A Crown of Wishes

Gauri made up one half of the best banters in YA that I’ve read in a REALLY long time. She was hilarious, witty, and goodness, she pants Vikram in conversations at least 3/4 of the time. She started one way in the book, but she had her own journey that made me love her even more. I loved her, and I connected to her far more than I did Maya in the first book. Even though this is a book set in a super fantasy land, she is someone that feels so real. Check out my review here.

These are just five (okay, okay, five books/series with fierce ladies), but there are SO many more out there. I had such a hard time choosing, but these gals are so strong – mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. While I picked a lot of ladies that were physically strong, Cress and Winter were predominantly emotionally strong and Gauri and Ismae had some fantastic growth in that area as well.

Tagging & My Listicle

So I clearly tagged a TON of people for The New Disney Princess Book Tag and I’m actually going to be doing two more of these listicle tags in the new few weeks, which I want to tag people for them as well. SO, I’m just going to tag a few people each time; HOWEVER, if I don’t get to you/tag you right now and you would like to do, please, please do it because I was probably was going to tag you and just got scared I was tagging too many people. XD

My Listicle: Five Books to Read on a Dark & Stormy Night OR Your Five Swooniest Leads (I like options XD)

Dusk Angel Reads / A Pretty Story (not sure if you did tags or not! :D) / Zuky the Book Bum (I have a feeling I know which one you’ll be picking XD) / Erynn Loves Books / Ryann the Reader

Who are your choices for fiercest heroines? Do we share some of the same? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

    1. Yes, it’s so much fun! (And I’ll be doing it two more times too since I was tagged that many times XD) But thanks so much! It was so cool to go through all the fierce ladies of YA. Thanks so much for tagging me! ❤

    1. LOL, yes. XD I was trying to guess which one all the ones that the people I tagged would choose and I’m like it’s no contest for Zuky. XD And ik! o.o I got tagged two other times too, and I’m like this is probably a sign I need to do the first one. XD But can’t wait to see what you choose!

  2. I love the way you write!

Thank you so much for tagging me. This is so exciting! I haven’t done a tag before, but I’d love to do this one. Thank you!

For fierce heroines I’d choose: Hermione (Harry Potter), Katniss (The Hunger Games), Tris (Divergent) and Queen Lakshmi and Sita (Rebel Queen). I actually reviewed The Rebel Queen; hope you check it out if you haven’t already :): https://aprettystory.wordpress.com/2017/04/27/book-review-rebel-queen-by-michelle-moran/

    1. Awh, thanks so much!
And tags can be really fun although I always get so distracted by all the books while doing them. XD
And yes, I totally thought about Katniss while doing this two. She was definitely up there. And I do believe I have read your review, and I totally wanted to read it after that! 😀 Can’t wait to see what you come up with! 😀

      1. I think I heard that someone was going to appear in there, but I think it was from the Grisha trio? I’m so behind on that one so even if I heard a name, I totally failed with remembering.

    1. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. And yes, the other fierce ladies were pretty great. 😀 And thank you. I was really inspired by Krysti’s post about different kinds of strength, and I thought why not showcase the different kinds? Plus, I was so deep in Cress at this point. XD

      1. Like, I remember it being amazing, but I literally forgot everything that happened, Rendz. Like, I didn’t remember anything that happened in Scarlet and then TOTALLY didn’t remember anything for Cress. XD I felt like such a bad TLC fangirl.
