March Book Haul

That’s right – my first ever book haul post! Are we excited? Well, I’m not, because in doing this post, I now realize I am in over my head in books. Dear gosh, me, what have I done? I at least got some epic preorder swag, deals, and used up giftcards for them? Yay?

Frogkisser! by Garth Nix

I stumbled upon this book during one of my massive Goodreads binges, and it literally looks SO CUTE. I CAN’T HANDLE THE CUTENESS OF THE COVER AND THE FEW PAGES I READ. I literally can’t wait for this, and it gives me such Princess Bride feels…which made have totally lead to the bottom purchase. XD

A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston

I discovered this book series had the most insanely pretty actual book covers under the dust jacket, and Mandy was all about that. Oh, and it does sound like a pretty epic Arabian Nights retelling.

The Princess Bride: Illustrated Edition by William Goldstein

Umm…I don’t think I have to explain this one other than: ILLUSTRATED PRINCESS BRIDE.

First We Were IV by Alexandra Sirowy

Somehow, the book publishing gods (aka a very lovely agent over at Simon & Schuster) heard my pleas on how much I wanted Sirowy’s new novel and granted my wish. Sirowy has become one of my favorite writers since The Telling, and I literally cannot wait for this book. AND IT’S SO PRETTY. DO YOU SEE THE EPIC PURPLE??

Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist

I won this during a blog tour, and it looks super cute and fluff! And I will totallllllllly admit it that I joined the giveaway because the cover is so pleasing. AND IT’S ALL SHINY AND SMOOTH. But I mean, it sounds cute. o.o

Soulmated by Shaila Patel

I mean, the title says it all, but I actually super want to read it. I’ve heard so many good things about it from the lovely book blogger community, and I mean, it WAS St. Patrick’s Day this month and this features a swoony Irish male lead, so I had to go for it.

The Winner’s Kiss and Crime by Marie Rutkoski

I read this series foreverrrrrr ago, but I totally couldn’t remember anything and never picked up the second book. But I’ve seen so many book bloggers love it, and Rendz over at @ Reading With Rendz gave it such a huge praise that I just had to pick it up. If only I got that third one -_-

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

I bought this for the Netflix show, but in the past few days, I’ve seen a lot of stuff that has me rethinking this a lot. I never realized some of the problems behind it and especially the show since I somehow knew nothing about it for the past few years, and I’ll definitely be putting this majorly on hold.

Pivot Point by Kasie West

This has been one of my favorite books for years, but I’ve only ever had the digital copy (which I always forget about). It’s so different than her contemporaries, but it SO GOOD.

Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan

Another book blogger rec, and it has fairytale feels. Plus, the flowers on are so pretty. This March book haul was literally categorized by me judging every book by their cover.

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

Pretty cover, lots of blogger recs, and a Snow White retelling. SIGN ME UP.

Newt’s Emerald by Garth Nix

That’s right – those few pages of Frogkisser! were so good that I went and bought another one of his books. XD It sounds adorable, though, and sort of Oscar Wilde-ish.

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

I loved her book, Out of Easy, and so many bloggers have loved this one as well. I thought I would give it a try.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

I read The Names They Gave Us by her earlier this month, and I supppper enjoyed. It was only 2.99 too, so I figured I would try this out, too.

Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi

I’m sooooo excited for this. I tried to start the binge read the other night, and my head was so tired that I couldn’t do. Expect some major fangirling soon from this, though. XD

Other Lovely Mention:

A lovely book pen pal box. Thank you so much again, and I can’t wait for The Diabolic!

I think that was it? I feel like there was more. I’m pretty sure there was more, but I can’t remember. And this post is getting longgggggggggggg. Let’s just say I will only be picking up one book for April and it’s just a preorder. My bank account could use a breather, and I now have an epic amount of work to do on my bookshelf. Please send help. D:

  1. Omg that is an awesome book haul!!!! I think all us book lovers have bigger TBR piles than we plan to have….there are just soooo many awesome books out there and we need them all!!!

    1. Lol, yes! I was totally fine with my TBR, hadn’t added anything, was amazed by my restraint, and then this happened and the pile is now insane. XD But you said it wonderfully: there are just too many. Thank you! 🙂

    1. Yes! I wasn’t sure what the illustrations would turn out to be (I always get a little worried), but as you said, they were SO GOOD. I was very impressed. Now I can read the book, look at the pictures, and watch the movie at the same time, right? XD And thank you!

  2. WOWWW what an impressive book haul!!! It’s so cool that they sent you First We Were IV ahhh I’m so excited for it to come out!
And about 13 Reasons Why… I read it ages ago and gave it 5 stars on Goodreads but now that I think of it, it really wasn’t the best book like I can see that it has some major issues. The show never really interested me, I didn’t really like the teaser trailers so I don’t think I’ll be watching it!

    1. Have you read any of Sirowy’s other books? But yes! There was a lot of !!!!!!!’s going on. And ah, gotcha. Good to know. I didn’t see much of the trailers but good to know you didn’t like them either, and I’ll be skipping it with you.

      1. YES! I wasn’t a super big fan of The Creeping although it was decently good (lol, that makes it sound so lame – not a very good seller on that one), but The Telling was SO good. It’s a super haunting mystery that is totally mind trippy and it includes these super dark and creepy fairytales. It’s what got me hooked on her, and she has a very lyrical prose.

I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL YOU FINISH THE REST OF THE WINNER’S TRILOGY! *prays you adore the next two* I think the third one might be my favourite I’m not sure XD Book Outlet has a huge stock know…maybe you might want to bring that wallet out again hehehehehe…. I’m just kidding. We must practice self-control….for a while anyways…..maybe. So many great books = so many great reviews from Mandy! Rendz is happy 🙂

    1. Lol, IK, RENDZ. I DON’T KNOW WHAT I DID. I DON’T THINK I KNOW THE MEANING OF OVERBOARD ANYMORE BECAUSE I WENT SO FAR OVER. But yesssss. I read a bit of A Crown last night and if you think the writing is pretty in Star Touched, just you wait, Rendz, because I think Roshani’s writing somehow got prettier? And Frogkisser! looks adorbssssssss. And lol, oh dear gosh. I might have to. They sent me a coupon too with the second haul and I’m like realllllly. I said I was doneeeee. XD Depending on what they get in in the next few days, the April ban might be done. XD But thankies, Rendz. 😀 😀 😀 You’re the best. ❤

      1. ❤ I am loving the Star Touched Queen! I'm gonna go off and read it now hehehe. I have a coupon from a previous order too…but I'm waiting for something I know for surezies that I want. (Kind of regret not using it for ACOMAF…but then again I am on a BAN) No books for Rendz! Not until May…I can wait…hehehe *crazed laugh* AWWWW YOU'RE THE BEST!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. It is just so pretty, isn’t it?? I can’t get over her writing, so I’m so excited to see your final thoughts on it!! And yes! Very smart, Rendz. It is most wise. I had an issue with my last order and they offered to send me a coupon and I’m like…NOOOO THAT MEANS MORE BOOKS BUT I MEAN YESSSSS. I wish you the best of luck, Rendz. YOU CAN DO THIS…but I mean, do we really want to, BUT ALSO YES. WE CAN. XD Are you planning on picking up anything particular for May?

  4. Tremendous haul, Mandy! You got some AMAZING books! I can’t wait for you to read Soulmated. That is by far the swooniest read of 2017, for me at least. 🙂 Also, I need to read Love and First Sight. It looks/sounds adorable.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thankies! I can’t wait to as well. I was going to read it for St. Patrick’s Day and then totally feel apart on it. XD But I cantttttt wait. Might have to move it up to the April TBR. And yes! I knew nothing about it before the tour, but it does sound SO CUTE. And the cover is super shiny.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Oh, that would have been a good St. Patrick’s Day book. I didn’t think about that. My reading scheduled is always way more ambitious than what I can keep up with, so I hear you. LOL. Oooh, it’s shiny?! Definitely going to have to order that one then.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Lol, yes! XD I was really going for that plan and as you said, the schedule just got too mean. XD And yeah! Well, kind of? Like, the cover is that super shiny material so it kind of glistens? So it’s not holographic or anything but it has a super cool sheen to it. If that makes any sense. XD

      3. I’m always doing something else while I listen. I listen a lot during my commute. Sometimes during work, depending on what I’m doing. When I jog and also when I clean too. And when I get ready in the morning. LOL. Basically I’m always listening to an audiobook. I don’t have a hard time paying attention to them though.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Okay, good to know. I always feel like I’m going to be distracted by something else, because I have a bad habit of that. XD BUT if you can do all of that, I might have more faith in myself to try it. XD

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Hahaha! You can do it! Just start with a book that’s really action packed to get into the flow of things. SoC is like the PERFECT audio book, but I know you’ve already ready that. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Ooooooh, okay, that could be a good one to try, though, since I can test out if my mind wanders since if I zone out, I will at least know what is going on when I zone back in. XD That’s a great idea though.

        Liked by 1 person

    1. I have as well. Two bloggers I tend to agree with on books really enjoyed it, so I thought I would give it a try. And it’s really pretty, too, so if I hate it, at least it’ll be pretty? XD

  5. Yay, Mandy, your first book haul!!! OMG OMG OMG pretty much all of these look amazing!!
    Illustrated Princess Bride! ❤ ❤ ❤ I can't envy you enough!
And I hope you love the second and third installments of The Winner's Trilogy. I love it so much! It's one of my favorites *_*
Can't wait to try Blood Rose Rebellion, The Diabolic, ACOTAR, Reign of Shadows, First We Were IV and The Shadow Queen!
(the punctuation is strong with this one)

    1. Thank you, Sophie!! When I found out there was an Illustrated version, I may have gone all :O and just said, take my money immediately, Barnes and Noble. XD
And ooooooh, yay, I’m super excited. I binge read the first one so fast, and now I definitely need to get onto the second one soon because it’s just totally lingering in my head.
Oooooh, yes, me too!! 😀 There are just too many, though,Sophie. XD
      And lol yes. XD
