Ouran Host Club Book Tag

Even though I have yet to read this particular manga or seen the anime, I’ve had my eye on it for a while. I’m still super excited to do this tag even though I might not quite understand anything else past the opening question. I was tagged by the wonderful Ava @ Reads, Rhythms, and Ruminations a while back, and without further wait (although it’s definitely been a while wait for me to get here), let’s begin! Make sure you check out Ava’s amazing blog, though, because it’s full of epic book reviews and tags, and all the anime content you can dream of!

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who tagged you!
  2. ALWAYS PINGBACK TO CREATOR (icebreaker694 – who has an epic, epic blog as well!! – per Mandy) she wants to see your post.
  3. Answer all the questions below! (You don’t have to watch the show to answer them.)
  4. Tag 8+ bloggers!

THEME SONG – A misleading character.

red-queen
Credits to HarperTeen

I wouldn’t post any spoilers, since I’m not sure just how many people have read this book, but there is one person in the Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I totally thought he was a sweet little teddy bear and BAM! I felt so betrayed.

HARUHI – A character every other character loves.

cress
Credits to Feiwel and Friends

Cress! She’s just so sweet and adorable that literally no one except for the evil people hate it – maybe because she’s so epic at her job? But still, there’s no one that you can hate Cress.

TAMAKI A character who started a movement.

cinder

…well, now Cinder! Isn’t it just amazing when I use back-to-back TLC references? No? You’re not that impressed? You think I need to read more books? 😉 No, but Cinder definitely helped start a revolution, so I definitely think she can be said to have started a movement.

KYOYA – A character with parental issues.

geekerella
Credits to Quirk Books

You can definitely say Elle from Geekerella by Ashley Poston had some pretty big issues with her parental units – namely her evil stepmother who totally lived up her name and folklore inspirations. Also, this book is insanely epicccccccc. I’ll be posting my review next week, and I can’t wait to turn into a fangirling mess for it.

KAORU & HIKARU – Brotherly love.

a court of mist and fury
Credits to Bloomsbury

Az, Cassian, and Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas had some major brotherly love, and I loved every second of their bromance! Also, the book hangover on this book is so real right now, gals and guys. I’m in deep.

MORI – A character who is scary on the outside, but a bundle of fluff on the inside.

grave-mercy
Credits to Houghton Miffin Harcourt

Beast from the Grave Mercy series! He was literally described to be a beast, but he was so kind and funny and sweet that you couldn’t help but loving this murdering beast on the battlefield.

HONEY – A character who loves to eat.

Oh, gosh, I feel like there is a lot, but I totally can’t remember any of them. D: There’s always this one question in the tag that leaves me questioning if I literally read any books at all…OH WAIT. NINA from Six of Crows! She loves a good dessert. And waffles. Definitely waffles.

six-of-crows

RENGE – A tag along character.

16906571_1442162635802062_2644939980132057088_n

I’m going to use Ava’s answer for this one and say Iko! She totally owned it in Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer.

NEKOZAWA – A character who likes the dark side.

a court of mist and fury

Oh, look, it’s ACOMAF again. Is this book going to be a staple now in my tags? I’m not quite sure, but after a  disastrous start this series, I totally fell in deep into this book, and it might have been due to totally being into the darkness-loving High Lord, Rhysand? Just saying.

Don’t forget to check out Ava’s fantastic post, and thanks so much to her for the tag!

Tag…you’re it! (In the most polite way possible of course and don’t feel that you have to do it if you’re not into tags and such!) It’s such a fun tag, too, so if feel free to do it as well even if you’re not in the list below!

Rendz @ Reading With Rendz / Zuky @ Book Bum / Jannin @ The Book Nerd Dragon / Olga @ Olga’s Oddish Obsession / Jamie @ Book Pandamonium / Kayla @ KDREWKTHEBOOKWORM / bookfandom1001 / Nadwa @ painfully fictional

What do you think? What are some of your answers to the questions above? Do you watch anime/read manga? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

      1. Why do you hate Cal? *pout* It’s like I like him way better than the other guy. Haha! Maybe because he’s older and more mature. 😀 And now I really need to buy the second book. But I still need to wait for the third. Oh my gosh what to do? >.<

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Lol, I think it’s because I liked Maven! XD And then I hated Cal by default because I thought Maven was the right guy and it was Cal all along. XD I got myself too confused, and poor Cal suffered. And lol, I’m sorry. XD It really is quite hard. But you will definitely want the third book close by when you read the second one because it’s kind of insanity at the end.

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Haha! Maven is so charming and you fell for it. He’s irresistible I know. 😀 But then I guess it’s also the reason why I wasn’t betrayed by the book. Because I like Cal and that made me suspicious towards Maven. (We are somehow talking spoilers here. Hahaha!! XD) Okay so I just need to fight this urge on buying the second book and wait for the third one so I won’t suffer the insanity you’re talking. 😀 (Which is going to be so dang hard.)

      4. I DID, JANNIN. I was soooooo much more gullible than Mare was with Maven. XD But yes, I can totally see where you wouldn’t have been super betrayed by it. XD And oh yes, right. SPOILER SPOILER ALERT…even though it’s a few comments too late. XD And lol yes, I totally know what you mean. I wish you best of luck but you won’t have to suffer a major book hangover and insanity waiting for it.

  1. Mandy, I’m literally going crazy over the fact that YOU’VE JUST READ ACOMAF!! Excuse me while I fangirl…. I NEED a book review ASAP 😭💘 Sorry, I went totally off-point 😂. Thank you for the tag!! This looks like so much fun!

    1. IKKKKKKKKKKKKK. It was an impulse choice and I see what you mean from your review. It’s just insanity, and I’m going to try so hard to come up with some coherent sentences. XD I’m now in such a huge book hangover, though. XD

      1. I totally understand the book hangover thingy, I was so sure I’d never come across a book as good as ACOMAF. It took a while for me to let everything sink in. (Tumblr, Pinterest, and weheartit helped me get rid of the hangover) 😂

  2. Ouran!! This was actually the first anime I’ve ever watched and it has a very special place in my heart lol. It’s hilarious and heartfelt and I recommend it 1000%. Thanks for tagging me!! I can’t wait to do this one. (Also I will be patiently waiting for your Geekerella review, I’m so so excited to read that book!)

    1. Ooooh, then I will definitely have to get on watching it! 😀 You definitely have me super excited now. And I can’t wait to see your answers for it! 😀 And yessssssssss, Jamie, it’s SO GOOD. It totally was everything I wanted it to be and more! Excitement = totally deserved.

  3. MANDY, you read books TURBO fast and I have yet to accomplish my goal of reading five books in two days. (I know I’m just weird.) Your choices were amazing as usual. No one color me surprised. Mandy is fantastic people. Got it? Good. Thanks for the tag, your the best!!💖

    1. LOL, I do. XD The binge read gets so real with me. But yeah, I have not accomplished that goal either and I’ll be jealous when you do – and you will one day! 😉 LOL, and thank you. I’m just waiting for the day where I can slide SVU in there XD And I can’t wait to see your answers, Olga!!

      1. HA. IN MY DREAMS which is usually dedicated to dancing deer selling free chocolate. Most people have big dreams like making it to broadway or starting their own company but for me it’s all about the amount of books I read.😂 You should create an SVU tag! We can audition for their show to play dead bodies!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. LOL. No, it’s a perfect dream. XD You could start your own business mentoring people how to get to their own dreams once you accomplish your book dreams. XD And lol, I could! Although I feel like it would probably get too dark? And lol I feel like I couldn’t stay still enough. XD

        Liked by 1 person

      3. What a wonderful idea! I could be like the Santa of the business, I’d buy a white long mustache, and get a wizard’s hat so I can be Santa AND Gandolf. 😆Na, I think your capable of mixing some dark magic into it but also keep it fun and uplifting. 😂😂 I’d say I’m making my dead scene slow so talent agents can notice me.

      4. :O :O :O Olga, you are a GENIUS. It’s like your triple decker sandwich post – combining all greatness together. How about Dumbledore, too? So we have a magic number 3? And lolllllll, slow and dramatic, right? Because drama is where it is at.

        Liked by 1 person

      5. AW. MANDY. Your the Queen at making people feel awesome! Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Dumbledore has to be part of it. How did I miss such a character? I must buy his outfit and wear it everyday to school. Is there really any other way? I’ve seen the soap operas…I took notes.

        Like

      6. Awh thank you, but your genius speaks for itself here. But oooooh yes. I can see the trends starting now. Can you imagine though your epic robes when you twirl at school? Although you will have to make sure no evil people step on your beautiful robes.

        Liked by 1 person

      7. 😊❤️️. I’d be the Beyonce of the wizard world and high school! All thanks to you! I’m sure if they ever make another Harry Potter movie they’ll call me but I’d say, “Sorry. Gotta talk to Miss Mandy, my long time manager.” I’m gonna keep a BEWARE OF DANGER sign so no evil peeps mess with it.

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Ooooh yes. Yessss and we will have to play tligh at first until they offer you a recurring dead person role on SVU and time away to accomplish your five books in 2 days goal. And then you can be star of the Dumbledore big screen.

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Your are a magician with words. I couldn’t have put it better myself! The producers better accept my days off needed to train so I can accomplish my goal and the morning/night it actually occurs. You think Dumbledore will sign my beard? 😂

        Liked by 1 person

      10. Good thinking! Should I decorate or copy his style?🤔 We could start own tv show based on a favored book series and I can play dead while my fingers lay on my side in a peace sign position!

        Liked by 1 person

      11. Hmmmmm…maybe decorate. Because you’re Olga. It needs some Olga flair. Oooooh I like it, Olga. Each episode, you can do that role in a different angle. Very much a thumbs up…or peace sign.

        Liked by 1 person

      12. AWMIGOODNESS GRACIOUS. How do you know it needed Olga flair?! How come “Mandy’s intelligence” has no bounds?! A thumbs up when the ending is good and a thumbs down when it sucks butt.

        Liked by 1 person

      13. Mandy, one of your ancestors have to be part of the entertainment world. You are a unicorn!😆 You think we can get Daniel Radcliffe to star in an episode if we bribe him with a new wand?

        Liked by 1 person

      14. Yes!! I saw this video of him rapping on the Jimmy Fallon show and I’m hoping if asked nicely he will do at least three times as the theme song.

        Liked by 1 person

      15. Ooooooooooh. I like this, Olga. I feel it. So, in this book I was reading, I had a major Olga déjà vu. So it’s in this land where every character ever exists, and there’s this evil guy who is trying to store up and use all this magic. Anyway, he gets Dumbledore there and Dumbeldore gets hit by this magic ball of energy and somehow turns into a bunch of kittens with beards and hats. XD im like, I feel like this is naturally our progression in the show so how did this lady know??

        Liked by 1 person

      16. Mandy, I’m above privileged to be the purpose of your déjà vu. 😌 “I’d like to thank all those who supported me… you know it, food! Mom and dad I hope you still allow me to go out on the weekends!” A world with every character that has ever been generated? HEAVEN. H. E. A. V. E. N. 😱That just might make me cry. This evil guy is going down like an expired slice of apple pie. Ha! I figure I shouldn’t be cackling like a witch but that is totally believable! Dumbledore would equal kitten with beards and pointy hats! A while back I thought he would be a dozen or so talking hats and the color the hat changes to would express his emotions. We-ladies- are always surprising even ourselves.😉Ha. I tried to be mysterious..Fail.

        Liked by 1 person

      17. Lol, you were a delightful part of it. XD And that does make one epic award speech. *cheers* And ik! It actually was a good read, and she had some interesting take on the characters. XD BUT YES. WE MUST TAKE HIM DOWN. Maybe we feed him too much apple pie so we don’t be the cackling witch. XD And lol, oooooh, I want a hat like that. Dumbledore is cool and all but I want the hat!

        Liked by 1 person

      18. Knowing me, my impediment that keeps it from being the perfect verbal speech is my stuttering. I would be ridiculous! YESSS. Too much apple pie will make him stuffed and tired. He’ll forget the reason he’s even attacking people. You should plan an adventure on the search for that hat BUT don’t forget about your blog since I need my daily cup of awesomeness!!

        Liked by 1 person

      19. YES. WE SHALL CONVINCE HIM BY SWEETNESS. Although…we probs shouldn’t tell anyone this, because you know, there was that whole witch candy thing from Hansel and Gretel? That was a thing. Ooooh, I like this. You will have to come with me, though, because who else will know what color it should be! You are a hat expert. And maybe we will find a top hat for you along the way?

        Liked by 1 person

      20. Your right. We are secret spies on the hunt for a vile man. We need to get a boombox for when we try to tiptoe inside his home we could play Pink Panther music to make it seem “normal”.😂 Hansel and Gretel could come and attempt to protect him…you’re never certain with those two. Duh, I’d have to come because my seeking incredible hat talent can finally be shown! Top hats are a must. We can not go home without one.

        Liked by 1 person

      21. Ooooooooh, yes, yes, I like it. He will never see us coming. Pink Panther music just makes everything seem so much less shady. And oh yes, they could. They were quite fickle. One moment they’re like oh we love this epic sweet giving witch and then they were like SHE IS TRYING TO EAT US. You never know.

        Liked by 1 person

      22. In a FBI job interview when the government official asks me how do I think we can reduce crime rate, I’d respond with playing pink panther and lifting my phone into the air. Little me thought Hansel and Gretel were the most innocent and was very disappointed by the end.🙄 Damn where were their guardian angels!

        Liked by 1 person

      23. Ahahahahaha. yesssssss, and then you’ll instantly be sent over to the CIA because your talents of stopping crime are just too intense. And lol, I know. Like, seriously, it was a house made of candy. What could possibly go wrong? SO much, Olga, so much. o.o

        Liked by 1 person

      24. For more good ideas and people with unique talents, I’ll request they contact you so we can incorporate CIA talk into our discussions. Does that mean I can never build a dog house out of candy? I was hoping to get a chance, but everyone would conclude Hansel and Gretel were my ancestors and I’m planning revenge.

      25. Oooooh, yes, and we could be super agenttttt (wo)mans. I like it. And lol, hmmmmmm, true, true. We don’t want them to get that idea. That would just be awkward and a lot of explaining on your part when you have other things to do. You’re a busy lady. Maybe make a house out of top hats? They’ll just think you’re part of Caraval. XD

        Liked by 1 person

      26. We need a team name so agents can easily brag about our teamwork. Hmmm. Busy? Moi? I would say homework takes up most of the passing seconds in my life but would that make me seem like a loser? Why must high school be so HARD.

        Liked by 1 person

      27. Oooooooooh. We do need a team name. I’m not sure what kind of epic one we should come up with. There are so many different types and words in the world. And lol, no, not loser. Person going on to achieve something. And also stuck in the evil vortex that is high school.

      28. PRINCESSESSION! (Princess+Obsession) Eh? What font and color should it be written in on the crime reports so it POPS? My MAJOR achievement in h.s. should be me convincing orthodontists to allow people with braces to chew gum. INCENDIO.

    1. YES. There was a lottttt. I was impressed with myself. XD And I actually finished it! I managed to binge read it in 3 days. It totallllllllly upped its game from the first one so much. I might recommend waiting until the third one comes out, because I’m in such a big book hangover that I think only the third one will get me out. XD

      1. There literally is, Rendz. Do you ever just sit here overwhelmed by alllll the books you have and WANT to read…while not actually reading any? That’s what I’m doing right now, and I keep thinking, Mandy, why aren’t you reading any of these such books?? XD

        Liked by 1 person

      1. Yes, definitely will! 😀 From the descriptions of each, they all sounded adorable and awesome. But I will definitely be on the lookout for Kyoya and Honey then. 😀 (well…not really lookout since they’ll all be there but still…XD)

  4. I’ve been tagged for this one too and I can’t wait to do it! Unfortunately, I have yet to watch the anime it’s based on but I definitely want to! Soon. Hopefully.
I think after a while it’s hard to get super original choices anymore, so don’t feel bad! I totally have the same issue whenever I do tags XD It’s always the same titles in my head… I’m doing my best to change that, though. And you did really well, here, ok? Just know that.
Great choices and you go me intrigued about Grave Mercy 😉

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes! With all the other things to do and read. XD But it does look really adorable.
Lol, well, I shall try, too! We got this! Whenever I get to a tag, it’s kind of like, I FORGET LITERALLY EVERY BOOK I’VE EVER READ EVER. XD But thankies for the support. ❤ And it's interesting to go through all the old comments and see how I totally got you super intrigued by Grave Mercy by the end of it.

      1. Ooooh, I really have to get on it then. I’ve heard that about it, so I definitely can’t wait to see its adorableness in person. Definitely moving it up on the watching TBR with your rec. 🙂
