The Nintendo Book Tag

I used to play on the Nintendo when I was a kid…but honestly, the Nintendo DS was my jam when I entered the tween years. I could play the weird Sims game where you were off in the deserted Sim desert and there was aliens? And cows. I definitely remember the cows. Not much else, though.

ANYWAY, I was super excited and thankful when Joana @ Bookneeders tagged me and then Nadwa @ Painfully Fictional did as well. They both have wonderfully fabulous book blogs, and I’m always so jealous of how pretty they make their blogs…and fun their posts are. 😉 Check out Joana’s here and Nadwa’s here to join in their bookish fun!

Let’s begin…before I go off on weird old Nintendo DS games I remember!

1. NES (NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM): A CLASSIC YOU WANT TO READ

The rest of Oscar Wilde’s work! I read The Importance of Being Earnest last year, and I was soooo in love. The man is unnaturally witty, and I can’t wait to dive back into his wonderful writing. I will probably want to start with The Picture of Dorian Gray.

2. SNES (SUPER NINTENDO): A SEQUEL YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE FIRST (CAN BE A SECOND BOOK IN A SERIES)

My Unfair Godmother by Janette Rallison! Don’t get me wrong – I still loveeeee the first one, but Hudson was so super swoony. He totally stole my fairytale-loving heart. I couldn’t help but love this book a bit more. But seriously, read this series!! It’s so hilariously epic and adorable.

You know, truthfully, I’m not sure there has been a book that has changed the way that I looked into the world drastically. I read a lot for entertainment and as a bit of an escape from real world issues, so I tend to stay away from the deep, insightful books. If I have read any, their titles are all escaping me now. XD

4. GAMECUBE: A POPULAR BOOK THAT DID NOT GO OVER SO WELL WITH YOU

a-court

…well, next week I’ll be posting my review of this book here, but um, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. There really was nothing wrong with it – I just couldn’t get into it, and trust me, I’m super sad about it myself since I expected the hype would actually work out for this one. *waits for the mass exodus of fellow book bloggers*

5. WII: A NEW FAVORITE BOOK

16122478_1739104079737609_2006044520902295552_n1

Well, if you’re still here, my last favorite book was Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I’m super, super weird about my favorites shelf. I’ve read over a 1000 books, but I have only 34 official favorites. I’m a mess…or my book hipsterness is really showing. XD

6. NINTENDO POWER: FAVORITE GRAPHIC NOVEL SERIES OR A SERIES YOU WANT TO START

16906571_1442162635802062_2644939980132057088_n

Lol, obviously, Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer. I had to get TLC in here somewhere, right? Now, where is Six of Crows going to go? 😉

7. SUPER MARIO: A CHARACTER THAT YOU’D LOVE TO SQUISH LIKE A GOOMBA

dscn2592

That one guy in Crooked Kingdom. No spoilers but if you’ve read the book, you know why and who I’m talking about. -_- ALSO, I apparently just needed to look at the next question for my answer to the above question. XD

8. ZELDA: A NEWER FANTASY THAT YOU CONSIDER TO BE A MODERN CLASSIC

Six of Crowssssssss. Goodness, I really need to read more books. XD

9. SAMUS-ARAN: FAVORITE SCI-FI NOVEL OR ONE YOU WANT TO READ

empress

Okay, I’ve used enough TLC references, so here’s one that I would like to read: The Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza! It looks so good, and it’s sitting so pretty on my shelf, calling out to me.

10. POKEMON: BOOK EDITIONS THAT YOU WANT TO COLLECT

I really want the UK edition of Caraval. It’s sooooo pretty. Me wants.

11. DONKEY KONG: A BOOK WITH ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

I’m going to use My Unfair Godmother again. It has a sucky fair godmother, a gambling leprechaun, a problematic Robin Hood, and so much more!

12. NINTENDO FANDOM: FAVORITE NINTENDO GAME(S) OR GAME

Errrrrrr…crazy Alien Sims thing?

Tag…you’re it (in the most polite and kind way if you would like to – no worries if not):

    1. LOL. Oh goodness. XD I thought I found a tag that you hadn’t done, but you were too sneaky. XD But I can’t wait to see the rest of your answers (and Oscar Wilde is just too amazing. Yay for thinking alike, though!)

    1. AHHH YAYYYYYY. I’m so glad I’m not alone. I swore I was. YAY JANNIN. I mean….um, we should be very serious about this grave problem. XD But yes! I always love little Boo. He was so cute. And you’re very welcome!

      1. Hehehehe. Okay, I’ve been told that it is soooo much better than the first one, so I kind of want to try it out? My curiosity is at an all time high. And I just want to find out about this Rhysand guy. Did you try it out?

      2. Me too! I wanna know what’s so amazing about him. Lol. And I haven’t read it yet. I’m waiting for the release of the third book so I can buy both the ACOMAF and ACOWAR. 😀

  2. TLC!!! Six of Crows!!!! That one guy from SoC that I would love to squish and protect with all my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want all five copies of the UK Caraval too, they are so pretty. It’s too bad you didn’t like ACOTAR, they say it gets better in the next one though! I can’t wait to read your review!!

    1. YESSSSSSSSSSS. He needs some major protecting. D: IKKKKKKKK. I wish there was a way you could just order specifically so I can have all the pretty ones. I keep debating which one I want the most and then I’m like eh, just give me them all. I keep hearing that too and I’m considering being a bad book child and just reading a super detailed summary of ACOTAR and then reading the second one. XD

      1. It is. I feel like I need to be shamed for doing such a thing. XD But I really want to meet this Rhysand man but I never made it. D: I heard he is the book boyfriends of all book boyfriends (although seriously who can compete with Thorne??).

  3. Excellent answers and thanks for the tag! I’m about to start Caraval since everyone I know has been raving about it so I’m super happy! I also have yet to read any books from Marissa Meyer (I KNOW. WHAT A SHAME.) and Leigh Bardugo (DON’T THROW TOMATOES) but hopefully I’ll get around to it.

    1. Ooooh I’ll be interested to see what your thoughts are, Olga! You’re super right about people raving about it, so I’ll be super interested to see if you raved as well! 😀 And ahhhhhhhhh shame, shame, Olga. 😉 But I really do recommend because they are amazing.

      1. 😄Hells yea! Plus the cover is already glamorous. I even kept poking it because I wasn’t sure if it was exactly real! I’m taking that recommendation as “READ IT NOW” sign from the universe.😂

      2. Oy gosh. Wonder if I end up petting it instead of reading? The universe is one smart pickle. 😂

      3. You know it! OR else they could forget your love for them when you don’t have spare time to read a book. That would be insanely tragic.

      4. IMAGINE. Death raises over the city as books start ripping out their own pages, authors resign from their jobs, and decide to be showcase girls. 😰

      5. O sizzle! That was more terrifying because by the time they finish we’re gonna have to wrap ourselves in cloth like a mummy.

      6. Haha. Watch books inspect closely your compliment and now try to prove you wrong. Books should sit nicely on a shelf and have great words not start a war! Jesus forget zombie apocalypses.

  4. This tag is so nostalgic! I don’t remember the Alien Sims thing, though…? XD
Dorian Grey seems like the perfect choice for Oscar Wilde beginners, or at least that’s what I’m told. I need to read that one too, since I’ve watched the movie and it was quite enjoyable (Ben Barnes could have something to do with it, though).
Empress of a Thousand Skies is everywhere! I guess I need to see what all the fuss is about 😛 (for research purposes)
Anyway, great post, Mandy! ❤ I've been tagged for this one too and I can't wait to do it! 🙂

    1. Ahahahaha. I apparently only vaguely remember it. XD I failed so hard with it. I think it was just called the Sims? I’mma have to investigate it further and let you know. 😉
And LOL, that’s what I keep thinking too (about the Ben Barnes). After I read it, I totally have an excuse to rewatch…although I never need an excuse to watch his cuteness.
And lol, yes! I read a few pages of it, and it sounded like a cool TLC like book.
Thanks so much, and yay! It is rather fun! 😀

  6. Aw thank you!! Loved reading your answers! And I keep adding books to my TBR every time you do a book tag 😀 Like this, I don’t think I will ever manage to make my TBR go down….
Oh no, everyone seems to love ACOTAR! I have the book since it came out and I don’t know why but I never got to it… I’m thinking on reading it around now since the 3rd book is coming out *prays she loves it*
Empress of a Thousand Skies is getting a lot of good reviews, I always arrive late to the party but i think I’m gonna get it if not for the hype for the cover! I love it! Hope you enjoy it!

    1. Ahahaha. Books tags = dangerous but amazing at the same time for TBRs. Sorry…but yay!!
I think you will, Joana! I think the mood just wasn’t right for me, because there literally wasn’t anything really super wrong with it. Book mood = wasn’t right.
And lol, I so agree. XD But yesssss, I will admit I was totally sold based on that cover. The reviews kind of helped. XD
      Thanks so much, Joana! 🙂

    1. YES. THANK YOU. I literally couldn’t remember what it was called and felt like an idiot for calling it the weird alien Sims. THANK YOU. XD It was such a good game, though. Although I think I lost a lot on it.
