What Cats Do Book Tag

This adorable tag was created by Kate @ meltingpotsandothercalamities (funny enough, we had a great conversation about cats before even discussing this tag XD), but I would like to thank the lovely Jamie @ Book Pandamonium for tagging me in this fun and purrtastic tag! Go check out Jamie’s blog – it’s awesome book reviews and other bookish fun along with adorable pandas! Who could want more?

So, as you might have seen in my Versatile Blog Award post, I do have a kitty that was named after a Twilight character…and he definitely bites like one. But I do have two other kitties as well! One is the cutest, fluffiest kitty in the world – okay, fine, I’m a bit biased – and the other is…well, it’s a bit complicated. We thought she was a girl for like, seven years, but apparently she’s a boy…and it’s just problematic? Anyway, that’s a whole other problem, but all the kitties are adorable but only one somewhat enjoys snuggles. 😦

Another lovely picture of the fluffball that is Jasper

Purr – As cats do this when they’re happy or relaxed, what is the book that makes you happiest or relaxed?

My Unfair Godmother by Janette Rallison or The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller. Both of them are so adorably cheesy and funny that whenever I need some cheering up or feeling, I can open up to anywhere and know it’s going to make me happier.

Sleep – What is a book that put you to sleep or was just boring?

15625175_184537632019090_1238083615095521280_n

Gilded Cage by Vic James. I was seriously Grumpy Cat when I looked over and knew I had to read it because it was just so boring.

Twitch While Dreaming – Have you ever dreamt of a book you read?

Okay, I never really dreamt of a book, like, that I was in the world or with any of the characters. However, I did have a dream that I found How to Break a Boy by Laurie Devore on Book Outlet for like 3.00, and I was super excited. Too bad it wasn’t real life. 😦

Seems to Play Nice…Until the Claws are Out – Which book had the biggest plot twist?

16122478_1739104079737609_2006044520902295552_n1

Ugh, I’m not sure. All of the plot twists seem to have flown out of my head. Maybe Gemina? I didn’t quite expect what was coming in this one.

Cuddles – Which book character would you give a hug to?

cress

Cress! She’s just so adorable, and I love her to pieces. Wait…maybe I will make it a group hug with the second half of Cress’s ship? 😉

Catnip – What’s a book that made you have warm and fuzzy feels?

by-your-side

My latest one was By Your Side by Kasie West! This book was just so adorable and fluffy. Although many of the time the characters were quite cold, I was definitely feeling the warm and fuzzy feels like a great pair of slipper socks!

Cat Breeds – What are your favorite books?

dscn2592
One of the babies on my favorites list.

I have three main ones: fluffy contemporaries, YA fantasies, and fairytale retellings. Wait, genres of books? I’m going with genres, since I don’t think we have enough time or blog space for my favorites…although I do have a super weird thing about them only being less than 40 on my Goodreads shelf.

The Vet’s Office – Your least favorite book:

bookishly-ever-after

Oh, eeks. I probably have a few of those. Probably Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandiera since I seem to go on the most book rants about that.

Being in Places They Shouldn’t – Least favorite cliche:

I’m looking at you, TDP, for the dresses issue.

Oooooh, there are definitely a few of those. I think we can all agree on love triangles? But I have this new thing that has become a staple in YA fiction. Like, somehow super pretty, fluffy dresses have become the example of anti-female empowerment? If an author wants to show his or her protagonist as “feminist” they must hate dresses. It’s so random and weird, and come on, dresses are pretty and don’t have any bearing on the establishment? It’s a total pet peeve of mine recently. XD

Final Question: The Good Old Cardboard Box – Most underrated book series:

16230343_717072698469953_1122993785941262336_n

Same answer as my first question. But also, Princess of Tyrone (Myths of Mish series) by Katie Hamstead!

Tag, you’re it…

Sophie @ sophiethestark / Joana @ bookneeders / Princess @ royalreader / Rendz @ Readingwithrendz

As usual, don’t feel the need to do it if you’ve already done it or don’t feel like, but it’s such a cute tag so I hope you enjoy!

So what do you think? Do you have kitties? Do you love kitties? Or are they evil?? What were some of your answers for this? Do you enjoy doing tags – I never know who enjoys them to tag them so let me know if you enjoy them!

    1. YES, YOU ARE SO INVITED…I really am taking the whole we must talk in CAPS around TLC seriously. XD And…oh gosh. That’s really hard to compute in your mind. How do you talk about it in the past? Do you still call it Lilly…or George? I’m so confused on what to do now with this kitty. XD

      1. YAY, PLZ JUST INVITE ME TO ALL YOUR TLC RELATED EVENTS! For most of its life I referred to the fish as Lilly, then about a month or so before it died, we realized it was a boy so I named him George! Now when I refer to my fish, I usually say “Lilly turned George” which is then followed by the whole story about mistaking its sex! XD Name your kitty whatever you want, its just a name!

      2. Ahahahaha. Omg, I love it. You have to give stories for things like that. XD I think we shall definitely keep the name for now and just stay in the confusion. XD BUT YES, YOU ARE FOR SURE. Now if we can just get invited to the ones Meyer throws…hmmm…

  1. Yay! You did the tag! And what a cute photo! Jasper is really adorable…Oh, I don’t like it when authors also do the anti-dress cliche; while I may not like wearing dresses myself, I like looking at them, and I see why other girls like them so much. But that’s why I like a lot of steampunk novels. In the Stoker and Holmes series, both main leads are strong female characters, but they like dresses. And that’s why I liked Audrey Rose in Stalking Jack the Ripper; she wanted a man’s profession, but didn’t want to give up all things girly.

    1. Thank you! It is one of the only times he actually looked at the camera and not bobbed his head at the last second. XD I saw your kitties did that as well. XD But yes! It’s so random and looking at pretty dresses is so…pretty? XD Oooh, I haven’t checked out Stoker and Holmes, but I might have to now! There is sadly a lot of the anti-dress hate, so I will take it when I see it. XD

      1. Aww…yeah, my cats always become camera shy at the last second. (Sigh). Stoker and Holmes is a really underrated series, and I highly recommend them. Judging by the summary alone, they may seem like fan-fiction, but trust me, they’re not!

      2. LOL. Awh! Yes, it’s like they’re allergic to them or something. Oooh, okay! I think I had vaguely heard of it, and I might have thought that and might not have picked it up for that reason, but I might have to check it out!

  2. I think the stance you take on dresses is really interesting. Especially because there was a point when I was younger when I felt I couldn’t like dresses to be a feminist. (Idk why I felt that way really) but now I think that feminism is celebrating all women no matter what they wear, dresses or not.

    1. I agree as well. If I wanted to show I was “more” feminist, I would definitely dress in pants. However I definitely don’t think that should have to be this thought process because as you said, it’s a celebration of all women – and if they have a dress on, they’re still going to get celebrated too. I had the same feeling, though, as well. It’s interesting there is that correlation.

  3. Holy moly… This is probably the best tag ever created!! I love cats and they always make everything so much more fun! So obviously I had the best time reading your post! Awesome answers and Jasper is such a cutie!! I can’t wait to do this one!! … I heard of girl cats turning into boy cats sometimes… well not turning but finally showing it… Anyway, extremely awkward…. Did he keep the name? 😛

    Liked by 1 person

    1. YES! They are the cutest. I’m so glad you liked them since I never know if people love or hate them…but they’re just so cute! I can’t wait to see your answers for it! 😀 And oh gosh. That might have been what happened! We did keep it so far since it’s really hard to stop calling him Misty after all these years. XD The “him’s” and “her’s” are getting mixed up too. XD

  4. Thank you so much for this tag! I love cats so this is purrfect ❤❤❤
I don’t get the whole “you shall reject all femininity in the name of feminism!” trope either. It’s ridiculous and quite insulting, to be honest. Who came up with it? Had to be someone who knew nothing about girls and how they come in all shapes and sizes!
This is a theme in Graceling I think, but it didn’t bother me much there. Maybe because it seemed fitting of the character? Anyway, authors need to get over it.
Jasper is adorable! Too bad he’s not a cuddler hahaha (cats rarely are, though, so don’t feel too bad, he’s absolutely normal 😛)
    Great post, Mandy! 😄

    1. Yayyyyyy! I figured with the little kitty in your avatar it was a good chance. XD
But I so agree! There are some that I totally get – like with Graceling, it really fit and I feel like it didn’t used to be as big as it was in the past books but I definitely see it now. But I so agree!
And thank you! He’s even fatter now than in that picture so he’s even cuter…although much heavier to try an cuddle with. D: Do you have any kitties or just enjoy their cuteness?
And thank you! I can’t wait to see your post when you get to it. 😀

      1. Yes, I have one! She’s a tuxedo cat and a very grumpy one too hahaha She can get quite cuddly once in a while but she absolutely hates to be held. She just enjoys lying on my lap, kneading on my favorite sweaters and not being disturbed 😛
I do love cats and dogs, I think they’re both great in their own way and make for awesome company. Just wish they could talk to us! That would be the best thing ever 😄

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, she sounds soooooo cute. I love it when the kitties knead things. Hopefully she doesn’t have claws with the sweater D: Grumpy kitties are always the best because they are so much fun. XD She just sounds so cute!
Omgiosh, yes. I would love to know what they are thinking. Do you have a dog too?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Ahahahahaah oh gosh. Your poor sweater…and you, lol. That would make it hard to force a snuggle when they can draw blood.
Ahahaha. In the cute don’t get along way hopefully? Is your kitty the alpha?

        Liked by 1 person

      4. My dog doesn’t really like cats… He tolerates her, but would rather not have to deal with her at all hahaha
I would say they both want to be the alpha and that’s why they clash so much lol

        Liked by 1 person

      5. They are mostly separated, yeah, since he likes to be outside and she likes to be inside. More specifically, sleeping somewhere high up where she won’t be bothered 😆 She’s quite anti-social hahaha
I think it’s just some friendly competition since there was never an actual fight.
What about you? Do your cats get along with each other?

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Ahhhhh that makes sense, lol. But that sleeping arrangement isn’t too fun for snuggles. XD
But that’s good. Actual fights between dogs and cats are scary. D:
Nooooooo. They totally don’t. Jasper is a total alpha kitty and wants to maintain it. And then the she (oops, he) was an outside kitty so she’s kind of rough. And then there’s the sweet kitty who just gets so beat up because he just wants to give everyone sniffs and kisses and has the fluffiest tail so everyone wants to eat it. D: So, they have a few chasing each other around the house per day.

        Liked by 1 person

      7. Hahahahaha that actually sounds like they have a lot of fun! Not a dull moment at your house 😆
I would love for mine to be that sweet and cuddly! She does like to come down from her spot and get snuggles once in a while but she’s an absolute diva.
Bushy tails are so cuuuute though! One of the reasons why I love Norwegian Forest cats and Ragdolls ❤️

        Liked by 1 person

      8. LOL, no. There really isn’t. And they each have their own weird cat quirks, so it’s doubly never dull. XD But yes! XD Lol, that sounds so cute. Divas are quite entertaining, though.
YES! His tail kind of looks like a feather duster in a sense? So it looks like feathers ruffling when he twitches it and the others think it’s a toy. XD

        Liked by 1 person

      9. LOL, yes! It does get a little interesting when they try to eat it, though. Like, you’re not going to get very far since it is attached to him. XD
Awh, I can bet! You’ll have to put a picture of her in one of your posts since I want to see her one day!
