The Liebster Award

liebsteraward1

So, this Book Princess is massively behind on all of her stuff – reviews, tags, awards. It’s because she decided to go on an intense book binge in January, and she doesn’t know what to do with herself. But #noregrets.

Anyway, I would like to thank the lovely bloggers who nominated me for this award while Mandy was in her book void: Sophie from BlameChocolate (books…chocolate…the combination is amazing and her blog is filled with a lot of bookish fun), Krysti from YAandWine (again, YA books…wine…could we ask for anything more? All of her stuff is amazing so definitely check it out), and Princess @ TheRoyalReader (a blog I’ve only discovered recently but it’s so cool and book royalty! Plus check out the an awesome tag she just created!) Thank you so much to all of these lovely bloggers – blog hugs to everyone!

The Rules

Thank the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they’ve written for you.

Nominate 11 people and give them 11 different questions to answer.

Sophie’s Questions – check out her blog post here

What is your favorite art movement? (Impressionism, surrealism…)

Impressionism, for sure. I love all the pastels (I’m looking at you, Monet…even though, you’ve been dead for forever). I just always really connected to their pieces in my art classes, and Monet is easily one of my favorite painters ever. Although the top title goes to Alphonse Mucha, who basically started Art Nouveau, so that movement so that is a close second.

What was the weirdest thing a stranger ever told you?

elsa
Elsa is cheering for my paleness, while Moana is shaking her head.

For my graduation, my family went on a trip to Hawaii. While we were at a lovely fast food restaurant, a man stopped me while I was getting my Ketchup and informed me that I really needed to get some sun. Like, ASAP. I was far too pale for Hawaii. D: Like, thank you, sir? He said some other traumatizing things, but I’ll save you from that.

Do you get motion sick while reading in the car/bus/train?

I do not, but I get horrible motion sickness in boats and airplanes. Not sure if that’s a good or bad tradeoff?

The best advice someone has ever given you?

Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Cliche, but it has gotten me very far in life.

What time of the day are you most productive?

Mid-morning to early afternoon. The rest of the time I get far too tired and my attention is drifting.

Would you rather be a villain or a hero in a story, and why?

Hero, for sure. Perhaps because the villain always gets the happily never after? I just want some happiness, guys and gals! XD And my Princesses are never the villains.

tiana
MACAROONS? It’s beignets, Mandy, get it together.

If you were a type of candy/snack, which one would you be?

Is there an official snack of the Princesses? Macaroons seem very princess-y, so I shall have to say that. 😉

Pirates or ninjas, and why?

Pirates! Mostly because I’m can’t wait for all the pirate novels to come out this year, and…Peter Pan. There has yet to be a ninja in a Disney animated movie I’ve seen…so we will go with pirates.

What was your favorite thing to do when you were a kid?

Play with stickers. I once stickered my entire house while my parents were outside doing yard work. I called it redecoration…they called it, “Mandy, what have you done?!”

Favorite and least favorite tropes in literature/cinematography/etc?

Least favorite: love triangles. I hate not knowing who to ship for.

Favorite: Friends to lovers. I love the slow burn and wishing for them to get together and finally see that…Oh gosh, if I finish that sentence, it’s totally a Taylor Swift song that I won’t be able to get out of my head. D:

If you could change a single thing happening in the world right now, what would it be?

Lol, one? Just one? Then I would choose to make it possible to redo 2016. XD

Krysti’s Questions – check out her post here

cinderWhat hero from a Dystopian novel do you think our world needs right now?

Cinder! Wait, that’s scifi. Can I still say Cinder?? Please?

What book have you read that has lifted you up and made you feel stronger?

Oh gosh. I’m not quite sure. I’m sure there were a lot in my childhood, but I just can’t remember them right now. Goodness, Krysti, I’m not sure I can be deep so early this morning. 😉

Name one book that has made you better understand a different culture.

Okay, this is going wayyyyy back in my childhood but Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry gave me such a better understanding of history and culture. It was eye-opening and so heartbreaking. I just remember this was a book that gave me a lot to think about.

What’s your favorite diverse book you read in 2016?

Six of Crows. It dealt with different sexual orientations, diverse characters, and even disorders. It was so beautifully done as well.

What diverse book are you most looking forward to reading in 2017?

When Dimple Met Rishi is definitely a book I’m super looking forward to. It seems so adorable and like it will be a lot of fun!

What book would you make required reading for everyone in the world if you could?

Six of Crows. For reasons up above. 😉

What book quote do you find most inspiring?

Okay, I used to be a major quote lover, but I finally talked myself out of gathering up all the quotes and hoarding them forever a while ago. So, a look at my Goodreads page gave me nothing. There is a beautiful quote that I found from Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers that says:

There is no shame in scars, Ismae.grave-mercy

And I think that’s beautiful, because so many times we’re worried about being flawless and perfect – which I do a lot – but there is something beautiful about scars and imperfections that we forget.

Things just got deep here at Book Princess Reviews.

If you could have any super power, which one would you choose?

Lol, I think having one of the great superpowers would just gave me far more responsibility than I could handle, so I came up with two of them: make myself an actual Disney Princess so woodland creatures could do stuff for me so I could read more or be the fairy godmother of books and grant book wishes.

Pick a genre: Contemporary, Fantasy, Dystopian, Mystery, or Science Fiction.

Contemporary probably. I love my fluff!

What is your favorite book series of all time?

The Lunar Chronicle has just slightly edged out Six of Crows again recently, but those are my top two. Lunatic for life! Wait…that sounds kind of bad without context.

And because I just have to, if you could have a chat with any book character over a glass of wine, who would you choose?

Thorne. If he acts like he acts sober, I would love to see my little Captain Carswell Thorne drunk on wine. My TLC love is going to new heights apparently.

Princess’s questions – check out her blog post here

snow-whiteLet’s start with an easy one: night owl or early bird?

Night owl if I have to choose. Me and mornings = very grumpy Princess. Yes, I turn from Snow White to Grumpy in a manner of seconds. So night owl = safest bet

If you could visit one fictional land/world, which would it be and why? (e.g. Narnia, Wonderland, etc)

Hmmmm…maybe Storybrooke from Once Upon a Time so I can hang with all the Disney peeps…and I mean, Maine is super pretty.

What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever travelled to?

Poland! I went there two years ago, and I have never gotten the images out of my head. I desperately want to go back.

If you were president for a day, what one thing would you implement?

THAT I WOULD BE PRESIDENT FOREVER, MUAHAHA. No, I would hate being president. Probably a law to never make me president again? Or a free book to every child?

Which song and/or movie reminds you most of your childhood?

Okay, there was this song that me and my childhood best friend never knew the name of or understood what was even going on it. We would always just look at each other and go, “Why was this guy’s car on the front lawn??” before changing the channel because we hated it.  It would take me a while to understand. That song always came on, though. I finally found it, and it’s called, “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit.

Movie: anything Disney.

anna
Anna was like, girl, you better say Disney movies were your childhood.

Would you rather be able to only watch movies or listen to music for the rest of your life? (must be one or the other)

Probably movies.I love me some music, but I think there is just something about movies that you just get lost in their world and it’s a greater form of escape for me.

What’s one super interesting fact about you? (hobby, hidden talent, etc.)

Um, um, I can’t ride a bike?? Literally my go-to fact for anything interesting…let’s pretend you totally didn’t see that before…like four days ago or anything.

If you had the option to travel to space, would you do it? Why/why not?

NO, NO, NO. I have seen too many space movies to know what a horror story it is. Oh, ugh, space scares me. Sorry, Cinder.

Do you believe in the supernatural/paranormal? If no, why? If yes, any stories?

I’m not really sure. I’m always suppppper interested in it, and I think a part of me believes enough to be scared about it, but I don’t think I have a firm belief of it. My grandma has seen ghosts before, and sometimes, I’ve known things that I’m not sure are just coincidences or weird supernatural stuff. XD And I did have lights turn off on me in a hotel without me ever turning them off…right after I heard a story about ghosts in hotels. But that could probably be explained by a few different things. So, who knows?

What would your ideal day out be a) with friends, and b) by yourself?

Ideal day for myself: would just be relaxing in the house, curled up with a good book in peace and quiet. And maybe a kitty finally snuggling me?

With friends: just hanging out and laughing and there must be food. One my set of friends always knows how to make me laugh.

Simple, but good.

And finally, if you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

Don’t dwell in the past or future. Focus on the present and actually enjoy it.

Well, this was a long one. Double brownie points to you if you made it down here, and such a big thank you for the three lovely bloggers that thought of me!

Now, here are my nominations (8 of them are my newest followers so I’m sharing the love with them as well – I saw you were already nominated, Olga, but still check out her blog, Olga’s Oddish Obsession here):

  5. What season is your favorite? If you don’t have seasons, do you prefer warmer or colder weather?
  6. Do you binge watch things or prefer to watch things nice and slow?
  7. Do you use any social media? And if so, what’s your favorite?
  8. What was the last book that instantly became a favorite?

Again, if you’ve already done it or don’t feel like, you don’t have to do it! Thanks again for reading and to my lovely nominators! What are some of your answers to the questions? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Aw thank you very much! I’m actually gonna do a post where I answer all these questions and from other bloggers also so I can answer your amazing questions.💖

  2. Thank you so much for the nomination, Mandy!! 😍😍 You should set this post as your synopsis or your résumé 😂 I had so much fun reading it! And I can’t wait to answer your questions 😍
PS: I started reading Six Of Crows last night, it’s such a complex world. I’m only in the second chapter; is it supposed to feel a bit vague?

    1. You’re very welcome! And lol, thank you! XD There definitely a lot. And I can’t wait to see your answers!
And okay, yes. Know how when you love a book so much that you totally forget that there was a time when you were super confused or iffy about it? I forgot that SOC was like that. For the first few chapters, it’s kind of rough to get into the world and everything that is going on and I was super confused for a while, but after a few more chapters, it is better explained. It just is super vague for a while. D: Sorry for not warning – I was blinded by love. XD

      1. Oh gosh, no I can totally relate to that! I usually sort of dread fantasy books in the beginning but then totally fall in love with them. I’ve read a couple of them that were vague at first but then turned out to be one of my favorites ever (see: The 5th Wave & Red Queen). Still super pumped up for Six Of Crows though! I’ve got very high expectations 😍😍

      2. Yes, I super agree! It’s like I love fantasy but that first part when they’re setting up the worlds…it’s like ughhhhh. Can’t I know it through osmosis already? You said it wonderfully. But yayyyyy! 😀 I’m so hoping you’re going to love it…and if you don’t…I’m not here. *already planning hiding spots*

    1. Oh, thank you! AND YESSSSS. You will be my first call! 😉 Yessssssss. It’s a bit cliche at parts, but the couple in there was my first ever real, real ship. SO I’m super biased for that book. XD And thanks so much, Rendz! ❤

  3. Hahahaha oh Mandy, are you getting all deep on us? I think so! 😛 And I simply love it and laughed throughout your entire post, so congrats, your answers were awesome xD
Art Noveau is easily one of my favorites, too. Chatting with Thorne over a glass of wine is honestly asking for trouble… Though very welcoming trouble? 😀 (To me, anyways…)
I would absolutely love traveling to Storybrooke! It’s like all fairy tale worlds rolled into one! Very clever of you, very clever indeed…
Do write more posts like these, they’re a lot of fun to read! 🙂 ❤

    1. LOL I tried? XD I was all like :O Mandy getting deep? I’m not sure I can handle that. But thank you so much!!
It is so pretty! Mucha is like the king of it so if you like it, his work is amazing.
Lol, oh, I would so welcome that trouble. 😉 That man is too much for his own good…and mine.
LOL, thank you. I thought so myself, but I was going to brag too much. XD I was like, well, maybe I want to go to this Princess’s land…but no this one…but why not them all? XD
And oh, thank you, Sophie! I’m always so worried that I babble too much in these and that nobody will like that. That makes me worry. Blog hug time? Total blog hug time!

      1. Blog hug time!!! ❤❤
And not at all! I personally love people’s babbles hahaha It just makes everything so much more fun and casual (we all get super professional when it comes to book reviews and stuff, so we need to vent our weirdness somewhere!)
Plus we get to know our fellow bloggers and connect with them on a deeper level 😊 (sappy sappy Sophie)
Mucha is amazing! Before I even knew who he was, I kept bumping into his work and soon enough became mesmerized. I’m so thankful he made Art Noveau a thing! 😄

      2. YAYYYY!
Ahaha, I do too. As you said, everyone gets so into the reviews and the memes and I’m so excited whenever there is an award post since it really shows their personality fly.
Now who’s the one getting deep? 😉 But I so agree. 😀
Lol, yes! I have the calendar with his works for 2017 and I’ll just sit there and stare, knowing full well the date and month but still staring at it going, can I just be you? XD

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Hahahaha Mucha fangirl alert! ❤
And a calendar, really? That sounds so pretty and awesome! I don't even use one but, like you, I'd definitely get it just for the pictures 😛

      4. LOL…that’s pretty much the sale reason I bought it. It really has zero purpose whatsoever. XD And I found it at a bookstore too so it was like it was meant to be.

      1. I can see what you mean, but it gets progressively better. The romance was flat for me between Alina and what’s his name. But the heat with her and The Darkling. Wow! 😉

      2. Okay, good. You have renewed my faith. Because I’m thinking I should probably finish that series before I read the Language of Thorns which I’m SO pumped for. Thank you for telling me it gets better – I needed some encouragement. XD

      3. So true. I keep getting approved for books I SWEAR I didn’t request. I took a screen shot of my requested list today to refer back to. It’s probably me, but just in case…

      4. AHAHAHA. Omg, Netgalley is just messing with you now! XD That’s hilarious. It’s like, we know Krysti already has insane reading list, we’ll keep giving her more. I just got approved for 3 the other day that I requested back before Christmas when I joined and I’m like :O Where did you even come from?? I was DONE with my February TBR.

      5. I SWEAR it is. LOL. Yeah, yesterday this week was like NetGalley explosion for me. I don’t know where it all came from. LOL. I ADORE NetGalley, but sometimes, it just buries you out of nowhere.
