The Versatile Blogger Award

versatilebloggeraward

I was so kindly nominated/tagged (I don’t know the right word anymore, lol) by Joana over at Bookneeders for the Versatile Blogger Award! She has a fantastic blog covering all things bookish including reviews from manga to YA and more, and so much more! Check it out here, and thanks so much again, Joana!

The Rules:

1) Display the award on your blog.

2) Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

3) Share 7 facts about yourself.

4) Nominate 10 bloggers for the award and provide links to their blog.

I never know what to say for those facts about yourself. I just kind of stare at them blankly, trying to come up with something interesting to me – which is super hard because I’m always like this with specific book questions, like books, I read books? You want me to book a book? That’s the same. Me? Interesting facts? Do I even exist to have interesting facts?

Let’s try this?

anna
As usual, Anna is giving me that look like, really?

I didn’t actually pick out the name, Book Princess Reviews.

My dad was the one that came up with it. I was super stuck on blog names, and the only two names that I came up with, Hearts and Pages or Queen of Hearts Books because I was in obsessed with Heartless at the time and super into the Queen of Hearts aesthetic…but I don’t even like Alice in Wonderland so that was a bit problematic. I thankfully ended up with this, and I don’t understand how this wasn’t the choice from the start.

I don’t know how to ride a bike.

As an adult(ish) person, I should have been riding a bike a long, long time ago like any normal person. And I mean, I was going to, but once I got the training wheels off, I was paranoid about falling. And that was it. Paranoia and logic convinced me that I didn’t have time for that in my life and needed to go on safer pursuits…that didn’t involve me falling off a bike.

I consider myself a bit of a book hipster. cinder

I tend to stay away from books that are overly hyped up or getting a ton of press about it. I’m convinced that I’m going to constantly be Captain Unpopular Opinion with it, and I talk myself out of reading it. I actually almost missed reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer, which was the start of one of my favorite series ever, because I had heard too much about it. Insanity, I’m aware. I’ve gotten so much better about it, though, but I’m still a bit of a hipster by heart…except in the usual hipster sense of the word.

I can’t watch horror movies.

I honestly can’t. I’ve watched two – one was more of a thriller than anything and the other was from the corner of my eye, so I’m not really sure I can count either of those. Give me a horror/ghost book – I’m good. A movie? Never.

Him biting the tree – and thankfully not me.

One of my cats is named after a Twilight character.

It was a trying time. And I let my mom borrow my books. She became addicted to that name, and my cat will always have the intense name of Jasper no matter how many odd nicknames I give him. Don’t get me wrong – I love the name, but I think he sometimes subconsciously knows he was named after a sparkly vampire and will decide to bite your hand off.

I don’t actually have a bookshelf.

There are bookshelves in my house, but I only have one shelf on those. Where most of my books are in my house is my desk which has a few shelves that could work for part of a bookshelf. That’s why there are not a lot of shelfies are taken because it doesn’t look as cool as a bookshelf would.

It has taken me entirely too long to create this post.

I never know what is interesting or not, so I’ve taken about an hour now just randomly thinking about random facts, vetoing them, and then playing on Twitter, hoping something will happen to me on there (update: no, nothing happened).

Thanks so much again to Joana! Check her blog out here!

Tag…you’re it.

I had a weird system to doing this tagging. Know how you play the game MASH? Well, I swirled my mouse around a bit like that and whoever’s wonderful blog it landed on got the nomination to share the versatile love! The things I do to entertain myself. XD  Feel free not to do it if you’ve already did it or don’t feel like, but I would love to see your cool facts!

the royal reader / panic at the bookstore / Salmah’s Bookshelf / evyreadsbookblog / By Hook or by Book / Kourtni @ Kourtni Reads / bookishdiana / Ali @ I Wuv Books / May @ Sunsets and Bookfests / Tiana @ The Book Raven

The swirls of my mouse has spoken. I tried? XD It was actually weirdly fun. Maybe I start making all decisions this way?

  1. Thank you for tagging me, such a fun tag, but like you I struggle to talk about myself too 🙂
Jasper looks so cute and mischievous under that Christmas tree 🙂
Do not feel bad about not being able to ride a bike, I’ve only learned it too in the last few years.
Lovely post, and thank you again for tagging 🙂

    1. You’re welcome! Sorry, though, for that. XD it can be super tough sometimes. 😩
Lol he does. He actually ruined the Christmas tree that year, so he was quite mischievous indeed.
Was with worth learning or would you still be fine still not knowing, lol?
Thanks so much and can’t wait to see your answers, 🙂

      1. Aw bless Jasper, he sounds so cute 😊 I don’t feel more of a person for learning it, it’s just an extra skill I can do. I live in a city where I wouldn’t cycle around much but I will definitely plan on going for some bycicle hikes and stuff 😄

  2. I tend to stay away from over-hyped books too. With the same thought that my opinion about it would not be noticed or something. Though I read some over-hyped books, I don’t review them because there are already a lot of people reviewing them. Mostly popular. And man, you’re lucky we’re not in the same country because I would be dragging you with me to watch horror movies alone. Haha! I love watching horror movies alone but will really scream a lot. Though it’s a lot fun when you’re watching with friends!

    Great post! Amazing facts! 😀

    1. I agree! But I see what you mean about people already reviewing them. It makes it far too busy sometimes.
And ahaha oh gosh, no! That sounds so ridiculously frightening. Anything that amakes me scream is not really for me. XD does it ever make you not sleep?
      And thanks so much! ❤

      1. Sometimes I can’t sleep but most of the time it doesn’t bother me. I just keep in mind that whatever happened in that horror movie isn’t true. And you know, watching the behind the scenes right after watching the movie helps with recovering from the scare. 😀

  3. “I think he sometimes subconsciously knows he was named after a sparkly vampire and will decide to bite your hand off.” THIS CRACKED ME UP OMG 😂😂😂
The same thing happened to me with Cinder; it was always hanging out in the recommendations section on my Goodreads homepage, and I was always like: “What kind of stupid sci fi novel has a friggin shoe on its cover?!” and then TADAA, look at me now.

    1. Ugh. WordPress ate my comment to you.
Anyway, Yes! He is so cute but evil. Twilight never warned me about the repercussions!
Lolllllllll. Yesssss. I never saw the cyborg parts either and didn’t know she was a cyborg so I was super confused on what was really going on with her foot, lol. It was all very weird, but I’m so glad we found it in the end.

  4. I love this! Those were very interesting facts about you. I never know what to say in these posts either I just look around and see if I find anything remotely interesting to talk about! I hate horror movies too! I almost made the same mistake with Cinder too! Lucky for us we had some sense knocked into us!

    1. Awh, thanks, Rendz. ❤ It sometimes is the hardest. And then I get scared that I've already said the same things and then things are just awkward. XD Horror movies = the worst, and that is so funny that you almost missed it too! Maybe it was the cover that messed with it?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Lol. I agree. I never understood that her foot was supposed to have the parts in it (because, you know, she was supposed to be a be a cyborg). So that cover doubly threw me off. But it’s so true. Thank goodness for that. 😀

  5. I love your cat, he’s adorable. I did try to read the Twilight books when I was in middle school to see how bad they were…I didn’t get through the first chapter. I think I found out quickly they weren’t for me, haha. My cats always hang around the Christmas tree during the holidays, too!

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Oh, thank you! Oh lucky! I thought they were pretty good in middle school, and that fact has always haunted me…that I once liked them. XD Lol, does your cat enjoy climbing up it or batting the ornaments? Little Jasper enjoys doing all of that and eating it, too. XD

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Haha, it’s okay you liked Twilight in middle school…I think we all regret something we did back then. Nah, my cats don’t climb up the tree; they bat the ornaments or try to eat them. Or chase each other around it. Or sleep under it. That’s basically what they did this year, 😅

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yes. That’s basically what happens. Well, we do have some cardboard ornaments and soft ornaments (like toys almost) and those are the ones they attempt to eat. (Sigh). Cats. It’s like they came straight from Simon’s Cat…

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Ooooh, okay, that’s better. XD I once had a candy cane ornament. The homemade kind you made in grade school. The lovely Jasper up there grabbed a hold of it and has hid it so good that we still haven’t found it seven years later. D: I’m not sure if he ate the hard beads…or not. So your soft ones sound far more safer for the kitties. XD And lol. XD How many do you have?

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Yep, they’ll ruin the black pants…and shirts. My orange cat slept on a black turtleneck I was going to wear one day, and I didn’t realize it until I put it on… I can’t wait to see the tag! I’ll make sure to check it out once you post it.

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Oh gosh. I have a white long haired cat, too, so I definitely have had those moments as well. XD But that has got to be the worst. Lint rollers are a cat owner’s best friend? And thanks so much! ❤

  6. Thanks so much for the tag!
I totally get what you mean about being a book hipster. I don’t even do it on purpose, but I always end up putting off reading popular books/series, haha. I think for me it’s just that I’m worried I’ll be let down after seeing so many people love them!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes, I agree! If I do read an overly hyped book, I tend to have really high expectations and then as you said, get let down in some way if I don’t like it. Hype = some struggles sometimes. You’re very welcome, though! 🙂

  7. First off Jasper is adorable! (Both the cat and the vampire, it seems the name suits the personality)

Secondly, thank you for nominating me! I’m so excited to do this award, (I just wish I wasn’t so behind in my tags, yikes!)

Finally, I love that your dad picked out the name for this blog. I always love when family is supportive and takes part in our dreams. It is truly a beautiful thing.

    Thanks again!

    P.s. Your awesome… never change!

    1. LOLS. It really does! A little too well. XD He says thank you for commenting on his cuteness – he thinks he is pretty cute as well and that clearly means he can get away with anything.
And you’re very welcome It is well-deserved! And I’m sooooo behind on my tags as well, so I feel you. XD
And you said it wonderfully! So very true.
And thanks so much – you as well 😀

  8. Aw thank you! Love your answers! And your cat… I love cats! And with vampire tendencies?! Even more special! 😀 Although I must say that he looks quite angelic! …. Fun fact: I some times watch horror movies but only with friends. So one day we decided to see two in a row. And in between seeing and covering my face with the pillow, it somehow caused my digestion to stop, and I was feeling bad for the rest of the weekend (and it wasn’t that terrifying at all but oh well…)… Anyway, thank you for sharing your facts! 🙂

    1. WordPress ate my comment to you twice, so hopefully I will be able to answer you this time. XD LOL, he does look so angelic in this picture…until after it was done and he climbed up and ate the tree. XD But he can be so angelic sometimes. XD And oh gosh, your horror movie turned into a horror story! Watching with friends does seem like it would make it better. XD Have you watched any since then?

      1. It happened to me the other day too! :O I’ve no idea why tho… It makes me exasperated… Aww, they always have soft spot for christmas trees 😀 … Ikr?! I stopped seeing for quite a long time but now, I think I tolerate them a bit more… I can’t have a good sleep the day after and I only see through my pillow but I can handle them better nowadays 😛

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Oh no! I have no clue either. It’s so weird. D:
Lol yes they do! Which is sad for the Christmas Trees. XD
Oh gosh. Lol that’s good though. XD that’s how I would do it too if I watched. XD

  9. Thanks for the nomination! Great post! I also could not come up with a blog name so went with the generic one i have now LOL! I too, do not have a bookshelf. My older sister has sooo many books so she gets most of the shelves even though she is 26 and no longer lives with us haha. But all her YA books are mine now.

    1. Thanks so much! Ahahahaha, that worked out for you in the end with all of her books! XD I like your name, though! Very funny you don’t have one – it makes me feel like I’m not a proper book person. XD But we make do?

      Liked by 1 person

  10. Such a lovely post! I don’t have a bookshelf either. I usually keep my books in a cupboard (the thought of someone just coming and touching my babies is horrible) which needs to change haha. Thankyou for tagging us:) -A

  11. Congratulations Mandy!!! ❤ And you are most definitely a versatile blogger, don’t you let anybody tell you otherwise!
Don’t watch horror movies? Don’t own proper bookshelves? A book hipster? Sista, you and me both! I never knew we had so much in common lol!
Your dad is awesome for coming up with such a cute blog name. Honestly, you should leave a lot more decisions to him from now on and see where it goes because I’m sure it’ll be epic! 😆

    1. Lol, thanks so much, Sophie! ❤
LOL, I feel like every time you and me do one of these, we discover more and more we have in common – which is awesome! Where do you have all of your books then? Like a shelf or just put away?
Lol, I won't tell him that for fear it might go to his head, but I definitely think I will have definitely have to go with more of his ideas. 😉 This one worked out pretty greats.
      Thanks again. ❤

      1. Totally! It’s quite cool actually ^^
Oh I do own shelves but they’re not the big, IKEA ones everyone has filling up their entire walls hahaha I have like a small one mounted on my wall and it just can’t take up any more books, so I keep piling them anywhere I can… On my nightstand, my desk, and every other available surface. It’s a pretty messy sight xD (thank God for e-books)
        And no problem! ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahhhhhhhh, gotcha. That makes sense. I have to squish mine in little storage bins underneath the bed. XD But lol, I bet the piles are pretty though. XD But yes, I do love that about ebooks. It’s not another book to add to the non-shelf. XD
