Rapid Fire Book Tag

Side note: today is the day I’ve been dreaming about for months. By Your Side by Kasie West, Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer, and Caraval by Stephanie Garber are all hitting shelves today. *squealing forever* I cannot wait to get my hands on these amazing books and look in the upcoming weeks for some reviews since I’ve ordered them all. Also, The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles is arrived on shelves as well, and check out my review here!

To tell the truth, I’ve never been good with rapid fire things. I need time to think things over, come up responses, and dear gosh, having questions thrown at you seems too intense for this Book Princess.

Anyway, I would like to thank Kourtni @ Kourtni Reads so much for tagging me in this wonderful book tag! It looks so much fun, and I suppose it’s getting me over my weird aversion to rapid fire questions. XD Go check out her great blog here!

Let’s begin!

eBooks or physical books?

While I am discovering the amazingness that is ebooks, I am still a bit more partial to physical books. I love the feeling of a book in my hand, and I just love flipping through the pages. However, I am beginning to realize ebooks have a lot of merits as well.

Paperback or hardback?

I’ve always chosen paperback, since it is the cheaper of the two and I hate it when the pointy ends of the books get curved. I injure paperbacks less. XD However, I do love looking at the covers underneath the dust jackets and hardbacks look so much better on a bookshelf in my opinion.

Online or in-store book shopping?

Don’t hate me – online all the way. Me = total book cheapskate. I need my coupons and major discounts. D:

Trilogies or series?

Trilogies, for sure. I like having everything wrapped up, and if books go for too long, I might get too bored of it.

Heroes or villains?

Villains can be fun for a bit, but I still always end up rooting for the heroes. I always am a sucker for the good guys and gals.

A book you want everyone to read?

six-of-crows

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is possibly the book that I fangirl the most over in this blog. I just can’t stop recommending it. But, seriously, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer is so ridiculously amazing.

Recommend an underrated book.

The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee. I just reviewed this book a few days ago, and I have no clue how it doesn’t have more ratings than 430 something ratings. It was so good.

The last book you finished?

under-rose-tainted-skies
Credits to Clarion Books

Well, as I’m writing this post, the last book I read was Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall – which I cannot wait to write my review on because it was such an interesting read. Although I probably have finished another book by the time this post actually posts. I seem to be on some sort of reading streak.

Weirdest thing you used as a bookmark?

I don’t really use weird things as a bookmark. A few times I’ve used my phone in a pinch, but my go-to used to be receipts…which is still super common. I’m going to have to use something weird now just in case I ever get a weird bookmark question again. XD

Used books, yes or no?

Okay, I’m super super picky about my used books. I need my books to look pretty much perfect, and then I’m kind of a germaphobe, so I get super freaked out about unidentifiable stains or smells in my books. XD So…it’s pretty much a no, although I’m getting better about it.

Top three favorite genres?

Contemporary Romance, Fantasy, and Mystery/Thriller. Also, GHOSTIE GOODNESS. ❤ Wait…is that not a real genre? Oops.

Borrow or buy?

Both! I used to only borrow and actually only buy books that I had read before. However, in the past few years, I have been buying more and while I do enjoy it, I still do borrow quite a bit.

Characters or plot?

Um, both? XD Perhaps character because sometimes I can get behind a character-driven book instead of needing a super intense plot. Although that always helps.

Long or short book?

SHORT. I like a good, short, easy to read book. Although if the book is amazing, I hope it never ends. I’m looking at you, Under Rose-Tainted Skies.

Long or short chapters?

Short chapters, again. That way I can convince myself to read a chapter for a few minutes and then read another chapter and another and another and not feel guilty. XD

Name the first three books you think of.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi, You Were Here by Cori McCarthy, and Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. All fantastic reads by the way.

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Laugh, all the way! For some odd reasons, I tend never to cry in books. I’m not sure why, since I’ve cried at McDonalds commercials before. XD It takes a lot for a book to make me cry, and I’m pretty sure I can count on one hand all the ones that have made me do it.

Our world or fictional worlds?

Both! I really love both the contemporary and fantasy ones. Give me a cool storyline, and I’m eager for both!

Audiobooks: yes or no?

No for the moment! I feel like I would get too distracted to ever pay attention to an audiobook.

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Absolutely! Books with pretty covers definitely makes me want to read them more.

Book to movie or book to TV adaptation?

I haven’t watched too many book to TV adaptions, but I feel like it would be a lot cooler to get all of the storylines in there in a longer format. I do always love a good book to movie adaption…unless they suck and change the entire storyline.

Series or standalone?

I do love a good standalone, since sometimes I just want to get my Happily Ever After and be done with it. A do love a good series, though.

  1. I had been wanting to do this tag for quite a while now, so THANKYOU for tagging me! I agree with a lot of your answers. I’m a huge cheapskate myself so I can relate.

    1. Oh, yay!! It’s such a fun one to do, and it makes it even better that you wanted to do it. XD
But yes, expensive and me do not work, so I’m glad I’m not the only one. XD
Yessssssssssssss – my enthusiasm is too much for that book. XD
Thanks so much again, Ava, and I can’t wait to see yours! 🙂

    1. Yes, that is so true. I hate the waiting for books when you order it, but as you said, the moment you buy an ebook, it’s right there. And it really is a fantastic read and hopefully you do enjoy it if you decide to pick it up! 😀

  3. For chapter lengths, I like a mix of both short and long. And for borrowing or buying, I do both. However recently, I’ve been borrowing a lot more. I will buy books in series though if I already have them, because I like having the complete series.

    1. I know what you mean about short and long. I don’t want something too short and nothing too long. (Kind of like Goldilocks XD) So a mix is always good! But that’s a really smart plan. I need to start doing that since I used to be the same way, but I keep buying lately. D:

  4. I loved reading your answers! I totally feel you with wanting/needing those cheap online book prices!! They’re soooo much better for a broke college student like me, haha. I’m also super glad to see you liked Under Rose-Tainted Skies! That’s one of my favorite books and I get so excited when other people read it and love it 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! Thanks again for the tag. ❤ But I know what you mean. XD Between buying the books for school and other college debts, there isn't much money left for expensive books. XD And yes, it was so lovely! I think it was your own Rapid Fire Tag that got me super excited to read it again and made it jump quite a few spaces on the TBR. XD

  5. As someone who doesn’t live in the States, I appreciate ebooks so much. They allow people everywhere access to books and they are usually not so expensive. I really want to read The Secret of a Heart Note, I own it, I just need to find the time to read it. Also, I can’t wait to get my hands on Under Rose-Tainted Skies, it’s one of my most anticipated books of the year and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

    1. Ahhhh, I definitely see what you mean. And you are so right about the not as expensive part which is always lovely. I never thought about that, but you make such a good point how it makes access to everywhere.
It really was a beautiful read, so I can’t wait to see your thoughts on it when you get to it.
And yes! I was a bit worried since I saw a few bad reviews on it, but it turned out so good!

  6. Hahahaha ghostie goodness is an awesome genre xD I do a lot of my shopping online too… I just hate the hassle of shopping at real stores, be it books or otherwise! Not a big fan of crowds and waiting 😛
Thanks so much for the tag but I already did this one 🙂 I loved your post, though, and as always enjoyed a good laugh!

    1. I’m always a sucker for a good ghost story!
I so agree. I have become such an online shopper. The crowds just drive me insane and people are so rude sometimes. I so agree about online shopping.
Oh no! I missed it somehow. Thank you though!

    1. Lol, yes! They’re just so handy…and cheap XD But it’s just so different to have them in your hands and holding them than just staring at it on a screen. And it was amazing! ❤ I didn't realize how good it was going to be until I was in too deep. XD

    1. I haven’t either. I’m hoping to try some soon. My best friend read the entire Percy Jackson series through audiobooks and she loved it, but I’m always scared I’m going to get too distracted. I really think I’m going to try once this year, though, so to be decided!
