The Black Cat Blue Sea Award

I would like to thank so much to Diana from Diana Prince Reviews who nominated me for this wonderful award. Please go check it out because it is a wonderful blog full of reviews, tags, the most epic Nancy Drew cartoon at the time, and other bookish and real life goodies. Plus, her blog’s name comes from Wonder Woman, so you can’t beat that. Check it out here!

“This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it, and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.”

The Rules

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate eight other bloggers.
  2. The nominee answers three questions posed by the nominator.
  3. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions.
  4. If any of the questions asked are offensive or the nominee simply does not want to answer, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

Diana’s questions:

What song(s) remind you of your favorite book?

Oooh, this is a toughie. What’s funny is I was just thinking about a song I heard on the radio and how it made me think of a certain book. And now I can’t remember that. I would have to say “An Act of Kindness” by Bastille definitely reminds me of Six of Crows due to the fact that song is kind of somber and a tiny bit gritty, and it kind of reminds me of what Ketterdam would feel like. Also, I have major heart eyes for both Bastille and Six of Crows.

How do you pick which book you’re going to read next?

Oh, gosh, I am the worst at picking out what book I’m going to read next. I have a tendency to do it based off feelings. So whatever genre or book I’m feeling at the time is usually what happens to get picked up next. With some of the ARCs I have received, though, that makes it difficult since I need to actually have them read by a certain date, and it so messes with me if I’m not in the right mood. It’s just whatever book calls to me the most, I suppose.

What’s your favorite non-book item on your bookshelf?

By non-book item, can I count my bookends? XD They’re not a book? I got these a few months ago, and they are just so beautiful…and surprisingly sturdy. Although, Belle kind of looks a bit high/confused/surprised/aghast by whatever she is reading which always makes me chuckle when I glance at her.

If that doesn’t count, I have a beautiful Polish egg sitting on my desk that I got a few years ago when I went, and it means a lot to me.

Okay, here are my questions – I promise no Disney questions for once:

  1. What was your last favorite book and why?
  2. Has there ever been a time when you hated or gave up on reading?
  3. What book are you most excited to read this year? (Doesn’t have to be a 2017 release)

Nominations:

Abby from Miss Abigail

Annike and Zoe @ Twin Tales Book Reviews

Jamie @ Book Pandamonium

Janin @ The Book Nerd

Jasmine @ How Useful Is It

Joana @ bookneeders

Krysti @ YA and Wine

Nadwa @painfully fictional

Rendz from Readingwithrendz

Again, please feel free not to do it if you don’t want and I did look to see if some of you had gotten the award before, so that might be the reason why you’re not up here or my spacey Book Princess brain might have forgotten. Thank you so much again to Diana!

  1. Omg! Another one, Mandy! Thank you so much! 😀

I feel you on question number 2! 😀 I always pick my next read according to my mood so sometimes ARCs are on the backseat. Not just ARCs but those books scheduled for a tour stop in my blog too. And it’s a hard problem to have. xD But I have found a solution to it which is to write those books in tiny papers and roll them and have your next read in a draw lots! xD You should try it! It might also help clean or lessen your TBR list. 😀

    1. You’re very welcome! ❤
But it makes it soooooo tough. It's like, I know I need to get it done, but this one book that can be read anyyyy time just feels right. XD I'm glad I'm not the only one that goes by feel. Does it make it hard for you to pick out books too because nothing feels right? I have that issue too.
And oooooh, I like that! I'm definitely going to have to try that when too much feels right or nothing feels right. XD

      1. Ahahahaha. Oh, that’s a good idea, too! XD It makes so much sense, because I just end up always making other people choose it for me and then I’m still not satisfied. But if I reread, I know I like it. XD I may have just found the answer to my annoying book feelings. XD

    1. Yes! ❤ They are the cutest. I accidentally found them earlier this year, and I'm obsessed. Not only do they hold the books, they look so adorable. XD They're by Jim Shore. Also, fun fact: I got your comment perfectly right here and in my email, but in the little notifications, it just said your entire comment was "Mandy" and I'm like…am I the all powerful Oz now or something that I just go by one named things and nothing else even though I know there was wayyyy more to your comment. XD

  3. Thank you so much for nominating me! 😍😍 Interesting answers and I can’t wait to answer your questions!! And I relate to Jamie; I don’t own any bookends. My bookshelf is already overflowed so I don’t think I have any use for bookends anyways (see: bibliophile problems😂).

  4. Congratulations!! Omg this is one of the cutest awards ever, in my opinion, and you totally needed it. Now you have it so I’m happy xD
Those bookends are seriously adorable. But the princesses’ faces do crack me up hahaha
    Great post, Mandy! 🙂
