The Disney Princess Book Tag ~ Collab with Miss Abigail

FINALLY, FINALLY, I HAVE FOUND…well, the lovely Miss Abigail found…A BOOK TAG THAT COMPLETES MY BOOKISH SOUL.

That’s right – you read it right. The Disney Princess Book Tag. It was created by Of Stacks and Cups, who now has my eternal bookish gratitude, and I’m going to prepare you – there will be a lot of fangirling over my Princess counterparts and loves for the next few paragraphs. Does anyone need a raincoat? Because sometimes the feels can be hard to get out of clothing.

I would like to thank Miss Abigail for finding this Book Tag, and also for suggesting an awesome collaboration between us. That’s right – this is a collaboration book tag, and I will be featuring her answer for one of the Princesses, and she will be featuring mine as well! It was such a pleasure to collaborate on this with her, and we both hope you enjoy!

Are you ready for this? Because I’m literally bouncing in my seat now like a five-year-old kid being told they’re going to the most magical place on Earth. Let’s begin! And check out her post here!

3 Princess Facts:

1. I don’t have a favorite Disney Princess. I just can’t. If you ask me, I will give you a Top Five list, but not just one. It’s too hard, and I’ll probably cry if you force me to just pick one….because like the grown woman I am, I CAN’T.  XD If you’re interested to know the Top Five, it would be: Rapunzel, Aurora, Tiana, Moana, and Mulan – literally all five stars for me and in no particular order.
2. Literally half of the shirts I own have Disney Princesses on it. I think I own Disney stock with how much of my closet belongs to them.And…I might have just bought five more. *shopping shame has begun*
3. My dad was actually the one that got me into Disney and their Princesses. And like the die-hard Disney family that we are, we totally went to see Moana together…with no shame?

Snow White – What’s your favorite classic?

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. This book had me in stitches. Wilde, being Wilde of course, decided to create a play for the wealthy aristocrats of England, making fun of them while they either were too ignorant or ironic to notice. It gives us one of the best scenes I think ever will grace literature: two grown men who literally are given the worst news ever only to argue over muffins. Brillaince…unlike Snow White. Oooh, Princess burn. Sorry, this Disney Princess is not my fave…although I do enjoy a lot of Snow White adaptions. Weirdness?

Cinderella – What book kept you up way past your bedtime?

Well, there has been quite a few where I just couldn’t stop reading all of the brilliance on the page…although I don’t think any books have caused me to lose a shoe or join into a hasty marriage with a charming prince. Drats? Anyway, quite recently, Lost Among the Living by Simone St. James kept me up far later than I anticipated.

Aurora – What’s your favorite classic romance?

Huh. Classic, classic romance? Or a romance you consider a classic? Well, I’m not quite sure what to do with that, so can I do double duty? I don’t really read classic romances…most due to the fact that I don’t really do classics (erm, yeah, I plead silence on that one). So, I’m going to go with a romance that I consider a classic for me? Can we go with this? XD It’s The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller, due to the all the perfect cheesy romance that it includes. It was the first real book to ever give me the feels, so it makes me always put it in the classic category. Funny enough, this book also has an Aurora rating from me.

Ariel – Name a book about making sacrifices and fighting for your dreams.

For some odd reason, I just kept thinking about Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys for this one. I’m not entirely sure this quite fit for this, but Josie definitely fights for her dreams and doesn’t take the easy way out. Side note: I feel like everyone totally forgets about this Sepetys book even though it’s totally an amazing book.It’s not even an Ariel rating.

Belle – Name a book with a smart, independent female character.

Ismae from Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. She’s smart, she’s strong, and she’s totally independent. Some people may argue she gets a bit dependent when the man enters the picture…but I mean, does Belle really stay super independent? Shhhhh…we won’t talk about it. 😉

Jasmine – Name a book with a character that challenged the social conventions of his/her world.

Cinder from Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Not only was she a poor, orphan girl, Cinder was also part cyborg which mean she was treated lower than low by just about everyone. Throughout the series, Cinder continues to challenge the social conventions and stigmas against cyborgs and why they can’t be epic, full citizens. You go, Cinder, you go!  Also can I also just throw in Shahrzad from The Wrath and the Dawn here because she did challenge the killing of innocent girls because I mean, duh, and she is basically Princess Jasmine?

Pocahontas – Name a book whose ending was a roller coaster of emotions.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. There were things that I sort of knew was coming, but totally didn’t want to come and then totally came and kicked me in my feels. I also wanted an ending to the book, but I also did not want this book to end. So it definitely was a super roller coaster of emotions and feels and me making D: faces.

Mulan – Name a book with a kickass female character.

Inej and Nina from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo were some of the most kickbutt female characters that I have read in YA in a long time. Both of them were intense, independent, and totally epic. They showed major girl power – just like Mulan – and while they were more morally corrupt than the wholesome Mulan, they were just as worthy of being hailed book heroines.

Tiana – Name a book featuring a hardworking, self-made character.

Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James. This is the book I’m currently reading, and the main character, Kitty, is definitely hardworking with all the crappy assignments that she’s been given – and literally crappy – and she is determined to make it on her own…as best she can in the 1920s and totally lying her butt off. But she seems pretty epic as Tiana is. Also, I just rewatched this movie the other day, and it’s so epic. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do because Tiana is such an empowered, epic princess.

Rapunzel – A book that features an artist.

The Anatomical Shape of A Heart by Jenn Bennett was the first book to pop in my head even though I couldn’t even make it a few chapters in this book. It did involve very artsy people and a graffiti artist, but it just felt a bit too pretentious for me. Rapunzel is far more epic than this book, but they do feature artists.

Merida – Name a book that features a mother-daughter relationship.

Veiled by Karina Halle. Okay, this is definitely an interesting take on the whole mother-daughter relationship, but Merida’s mom was a bear for almost the entire movie, so I think Merida would approve. This book was such creepy goodness, and Ada’s mother kept popping up in the creepiest times. I really felt for Ada and her mom, and their relationship and love could definitely be felt through the pages. It definitely showed some major motherly love and power. Also…Ada’s mother was stuck in the bookish hell of that book, and I imagine being a bear was kind of like that too?

Anna & Elsa – A book with a great relationship between siblings.

Wanderlost by Jen Malone. Okay, “great” relationship is a bit of a stretch for this book, but “great” is also a major stretch for Anna and Elsa. Elsa literally froze her sister twice – almost killing her both times – and even though I love them to pieces, they were a bit problematic in the sisterly love department. That being said, so was Wanderlost. The two sisters went on a journey together and despite being super far apart in the beginning, by the end, the two sisters had such a greater understanding of each other, it almost moved me to tears. Sisterly love power!

Now, this tag was created before Moana was released, and since Moana was what inspired the whole idea of Miss Abigail and I even collaborating on this, we definitely had to include her. Moana – Your favorite beach read.

At the start of 2016, I was sitting on Byron Bay in Australia sipping on coconut water and reading We Were Liars by E Lockhart. I’d heard a lot of mixed reviews about this book, but it was short, so I decided it was ultimately worth giving it a go… best decision I’ve ever made. Its length means it’s the perfect entertainment while you bake for a few hours by the pool, and it’s writing style is gorgeous. I’ll definitely have to reread this in the summer time this year!

This was so ridiculously fun, and I fangirled so much. Since I wasn’t actually tagged in this, I won’t tag anyone else, but if you want to (I know a few certain bloggers who have shared some Disney love in the past, so I’m looking at you ;)), please do!! I need to fangirl with someone else about this fantastic tag.
